Just sharing an experience - just finished installing. in all, it took me about 3 1/2 hrs. most of that was because of routing of the backup camera - also not knowing how hard to pull / pry the molding out. straight forward, but a pain in the toosh. the head unit itself, I think now that i know what is involved, that part literally could be about 30 min or less. 1) these videos were absolutely helpful. there is very little to no documentation but fortunately, it is relatively straight forward. 2) routing of the backup camera is a extreme pain in the butt. before making the connection for the wire going to the front, I was more successful pulling it from the back seat into the trunk. getting the large rca connector seem to get stuck on something. in my particular version, you need to hook the red wire to the p-com label'ed wire. don't ask me why but the labels on the wires was a little screwy. 3) definitely test out whether you need the aux wire or not. i cannot be sure but if you don't need it, and you plug it in anyways, the head unit will get confused. what was happening was that it was connecting and getting music through bluetooth but then all of a sudden, it would stop working. it was not a lose connection because I could reproduce this. once I unplugged the aux cable, everything worked just fine. VERY weird 4) some people talked about sleep mode. I decided to just turn it to "off". otherwise, you run the risk of when you car is turned off, that it is still draining the battery. I was seeing that my car time kept getting reset. once i turned this to off, everything started to work proper. I could be wrong - it did take me 3 1/2 hrs for the install and I DID disconnect the battery for part but not all of the install. The side effect of this is that the unit will start up from the beginning every time to shut your car down. it may be early days but it SEEMS like it got better (faster) as time went on. 5) you may need to reset the computer once you reattach the battery. you just hold the trip button for 5+ seconds or until the display changes. that may have also been what was causing #4 but combined, the issue was resolved. 6) i did do a system reset to make sure that everything was clean with the install. 7) carplay is absolutely cool. Works very well. 8) if you hit any of the stereo buttons, it will move off of aux. you can either go into the old unit interface (from the new head unit) or hit the "mode" button a few times. for the US, the sequence is FM, AM, WB, Aux hope this helps others.
Some peoples say you need cable aux and some said you dont need. I have orginal aux menu already. I dont know from what it depends. I ordered my head unit and i will try while i install. On another video peoples instal unit with no aux cable and they say its plug and play you dont need. My BMW 2008 ccc unit.

Hi My car 2004 530d EU. As far as I know, an aux source is required for this Android multimedia. But my car has no aux source. Can I code the aux from the settings of the android device? or Esys cable?
you have to code aux using ncs expert and then install the aux cable. once thats installed you will connect it to the aux female port on the new head unit harness
NEIN! ;) Audio from the android deck comes into the stock stereo via AUX cable. FM transmitter would give you audio from a phone or ipad via the tuner in the stock stereo though.
Have a look at 20:12. There is a BMW settings menu where you can change the door switch polarity (like if your door shows open when its actually closed or vice versa).
I would check the pinout on the AUX cable to the connector. Mine was actually pinned incorrectly from the seller on Amazon! I had to move a pin!!! Id bet thats your issue.
You connected the AUX cable to the BMW stereo also? It needs that for sound. You have to ensure you have AUX function coded to enable it in the car also.
You just hold down the Menu button on idrive on the cernter console and the screen toggles back to thw original BMW system. Same steps to toggle back to Android.

Mine was fully functional yes. I safely wrapped up the old screen in case I want to revert back in the future. I believe if your screen itself is bad you will be ok to swap to android, but not if the CCC system itself is bad. The android head units all piggyback onto the CCC, meaning they use the AUX input and sound through the CCC.
yeah its a great way to get updated navigation and MP3 cabability as well as bluetooth handsfree all in 1 shot. And you dont lose original functionality either! win-win!!!
hi I have a problem with the multimedia there is no communication between the android screen and the joystick and the car it does not show me any information from the car otherwise it plays works if you can help me
Hi bro, I also got the CCC android unit. Now I used this about 6 years. But some times this device will steal power and cause the car's system to display a power leakage. Over time, the system will overheat(CCC android unit), leading to a crash, resulting in the screen becoming unresponsive.

Hello! You can buy an AUX cable meant to retrofit into these cars. Then you have to code that function into the car.
I have installed CCC Android in my BMW 520i series, all the conic, but the sound doesn't come out, why?
You connected the AUX cable to the BMW stereo also? It needs that for sound. You have to ensure you have AUX function coded to enable it in the car also.
