As the use of improvised explosive devices (IED) continues to grow, the Office of Naval Research (ONR) is exploring physical and social sciences to counter the threat.
I don't understand why the Military technology don't develop a remote controled Small drone with metal sensors detectors to find IEDs , wouldn't be dangerous to the operator and not so costly as it is for those trucks and personnel !besides a Flying drone could take a fell kms ahead of a convoy faster than those trucks !!
are we really putting money towards answering why "they" use IEDs???? give me a break!! we need to hire civilian contractors to tell us why. give me a break!!!!!!!!! what a waste of tax dollars.
I know how the video worded it, but they mostly learn why each village wants to use them, say they want freedom, or hate america, or just want to kill people, they then go around that village like Mormons sort of converting people to have an outward hatred for them in hopes they said individual will stop using IED or be turned in by someone who knows that they use them.

Problem with all this is as the technology advances for the military, it also advances for the insurgents. Drones with EFP's is just one example.

Great video ! Would you include the Plastic Trawl for digging a "cat hole" or finding a IED ? Would this be part of your EOD/Counter IED Kit ? tjl
Is there the technology for use of drones to detect IED’ s? Or one with a multi range frequency transmitter to fly by and blow them up safely?
Don Brown was thinking, some drones are 20USD just get a weight and put it on the RC car and drive it.
