Sir I’m and older gentleman I have taken many martial arts I took Kali for a year it was my favorite I really want to continue the school has moved to Albany , I can’t go that far how much is your class I have loved and have played with knives as long as I can remember my favorite tool . Thank you for you time
Thanks for the updated information. Any knife drills are helpful. So various grips would be great, also tricks and exercises to assist with switching from grip to grip. Thanks!
Such an incredible drill! It lets us practice both of our hands, with all stab, hook and slash movements, but also reminds us of how FMA knife techniques work (every single move is supposed to be an attack or a trap). Thank you so much for sharing this. Salute!
Paul, great double knife reverse grip technique as usual you never disappoint! Thanks for sharing much appreciated keep those videos coming peace Bro 🙏🏼
It's 9:00 pm Central. Chillin looking for new techniques. New student. Not ready for double knives. Saved for later. Would love to see techniques in tiger grip, which is currently the main focus of my training. I work my left some at each workout. I recently injured my right shoulder, minor strain, which is actually a blessing because I am currently only training with my left. I cannot believe that after only going solely left, how good I am getting with it. My point being, I plan to train double knives after becoming advanced single knife. I also want to train with the sticks. I have been training with you for only about 3 weeks, for about 2 hours a day and I am getting very good at the basics. You are a great teacher. Thanks. God bless. I really appreciate you and your instruction.
On some of the movements the back of the blade is leading, would that be an offensive slash or more of a clearing of the opponent‘S obstruction? Obviously if it is more thrust it probably doesn’t matter as it’s the tip that’s the focus vs a slashing blade?
i'm learning more from you than i am at my escrima class. and I recently quit going to escrima cuz i wanna try krav maga anyway so your vids will keep my weapons real sharp
@@kalicenter interesting. I think with this channel alone I will be even better than what I had at that escrima gym so I don't feel like I'm missing out anymore by not going
Dear Sir, Kali Center, With all respect to your admirable skill, from methodological point of view, let me have have three reservations: - the reverse grip is primarily a defensive one, enabling parrying direct knife attacks and protecting our forarm. - accordingly the block with the help of knife in reverse grip should have been presented by you. - the attacking movements, with a reverse grip are less more effective if done by beginners not taught how to to defend themselves . First things first! Best regards Paul,68,retired instructor of Karate.
I couldn’t stop anyone from doing that so I guess so. When I started my online school back in 2015 a number of “instructors” who downed me for making my online school did exactly that. Best thing to do it properly and make sure you’re able to teach it correctly is to train, attend my training camp and join the Leadership Program. There’s A LOT I don’t put online. 😉
Hi Paul, great double knife Pakal drill. Thanks for sharing. I like how you incorporate both hands and cover all of the fundamentals. Is there a partner drill version?
All benefits to training aside, I wouldn't use this grip in a real life situation: say bye to your fingers when the tip lands on a collar bone, rib, etc. Again, I do still see benefits to training this way - translation to empty hands, as a general upper body moving-stretch/warm up, and because it makes all of the above fun, which sure makes training easier on the hard days.
Hey Paul it's Travis k hunt aka travdar the barbarian form Bayshore NY hey I got to brush up on my double knife movements plus that's a cool show you just did but speaking on fillipino martial arts the kicks I know sipa but I for got the kali foot stomp move is called again well when you get this note write to me back soon I just want to know what the kali foot stomp is called this is Travis k hunt aka travdar the barbarian sighting off all great warriors united

After reading the comments, have any of your followers ever been in an actual fight,I have read a lot of their comments and it sounds like a bunch of kids that are going to get hurt trying your ineffective tactics, please stop putting people at risk and giving them false training and hope. You are putting people at risk with your training.
Well, this is one way to go... Unless it's an unarmed opponent, probably not the best advice. Practice your strikes, but these are horrible for fighting. People draw weapons for three reasons, in order. 1, fear, 2 challenge, 3 murder. You're best offense, is your defense, attack the weapon, which is the hands and arms.
I didn’t give any self defense advice in this video. I have no context whether to use these techniques offensively or defensively. I only shared the movements for those who have interest in martial arts. As for your 3 reasons… these are the only reasons why people fight period. Fear of something, challenging something or to cause harm to another, whether with or without a weapon. Not sure how this comment is supposed to challenge the content of this video?
@@kalicenter I left it because I have 20 years of combined martial arts experience, including Korean and Japanese traditional weapons. People fight for all kinds of reasons, weapons are always and only those 3.

LOL this video makes me feel stupid.. Loved the info.. was weird never watched any videos related and this popped into my feed so I watched it. Dude some great stuff here. I'm very confident in my skills with a knife on the streets and have made it through my youth with only one incident and a small scar to prove that knives do stick into bone.. I gave that life up a long time ago.. but this now has me interested.. It also seems like some great knowledge and the practicing you stress, which I agree with totally, seems like something I could use and do for health reasons. Get me moving more and a bit of cardio.. I am no longer a young man and seems I have 2 options now well three I guess technically.. I have lots of training and carry daily a firearm. I always carry a knife into places a firearm is not allowed. As I am no longer able to run away or fight for any length of time against a youth.. Now perhaps would be better to actually learn proper knife fighting techniques and how to use them. Would honestly love to stop an attacker with a few well placed cuts and give them the chance to walk away than them to take the bullet.. As when I pull the firearm.. It is used and used effectively with the double tap. At that point, I would be using it as a last resort.. not as a first... I have found you can normally deescalate a situation but sometimes the other it to bone headed and full of youth and bravado.. It never helps if their friends are about egging them on. But it seems to me pulling out a knife and just demonstrating a few practice moves might be very and or more intimidating than brandishing a gun. I also have noticed when law enforcement arrives, the victim that used a firearm is more likely to be shot by the law enforcement on "accident" than someone with a knife in hand. Can not reach out 15 ft to knife an officer but you sure could shoot them at 15 ft.. Be nice to learn proper techniques. As I am new here and just subbed and liked and commented to help the channel. Do you have any beginner videos to help someone break old habits which probably are not very good to begin with LOL I sometimes feel I was more lucky than actually skilled when younger. Some of this looks like that Philippine stick/knife fighting style, I have seen that once when one of our friends decades ago showed us. They ended up moving back before I could actually get a chance to learn anything of it ...was very interesting. It may be that this seems all very attack attack oriented like the aforementioned Pilipino martial arts. I appreciate the video and will check out the rest of your videos when I can. As one should be doing work and not watching you tube videos when at work. But honestly I am allowed to design my work weeks and take breaks whenever. Be well and much love and respect from a new (oldman) viewer.
Then you get shot. Duh. Stupid question. That’s like. What happens when the other guy nukes you or poisons you in your sleep or sneaks up behind you and just squeezes the trigger with no warning. Reality check, no one can win everything. Moronic thinking.
Don't ask sarcastic questions that serve zero purpose but to make you look like an ass. The point of this video is to cover some simple knife fighting techniques, you can use your head to figure out the rest.

What qualifications do you have to miss lead people to follow this training?

Those movements would be thrusts or hooks.

Never bring a knife to a gun fight.
There’s also a saying, “never bring a gun to a knife fight.” It’s all situational. Free your mind 👍🏼
You can if your fast and only 2 feet away, no thinking react now. Other than that, very true.
Doble daga is my least favorite kali area, but it can be the most rewarding to master because i don't immediately take to it.

If you cap the knife as shown in pakal you won’t loose any fingers and the knife will break the collar bone or ribs.
