Ugandan police detained several demonstrators in the capital Kampala, as scattered anti-corruption rallies began despite being banned by authorities. The protests were planned by Young Ugandans, who organised the anti-corruption rallies online. The protesters have drawn inspiration from the mostly Gen-Z-led anti-government protests that have roiled neighbouring Kenya for a month. President Yoweri Museveni, who has ruled Uganda with an iron fist for almost four decades, warned the demonstrators that they were "playing with fire" on the weekend. However, despite the warnings, protesters went ahead with their plans.

Shame to the Ugandan police and the senior government officials who are arresting young people for holding peaceful signs. I am wondering why the police and the army are supporting the government that is paying them less salary and the leadership is so corrupt and too much nepotism. Ugandan citizens are smarter than that. They need to stand up and support those young people.
