    Your farm should build a new poured concrete silo with bottom unload. Extremely safe, large capacity, feed & fill @ the same time. No plastic or racoons. We had bags,didn't like, went back to silos. Built 2 new poured concrete ones.

    Having Grant along is impressive. He seems to enjoy himself so much. Your treats certainly help as well.

    If you do a pile corn in the future I would suggest pouring concrete! Seen a few other farms around us do blacktop and it never holds up as good as concrete…. They did it because it is cheaper but we’ve always had great luck with concrete and wouldn’t trade it for blacktop.

    I hear many good things about these air reels. Virtually every farmer in the plains states use them.

    Hey there
    An old farming friend of mine used to put a bag down each side of a hard pad and fill in between and the cover like a proper bunk
    Saves on the expense of concrete walls

  • @burtzorn4059
    @burtzorn4059 Месяц назад +1

    Asphalt isn't worth a shit for a bunker. Cement or stay with bags or silo. Glad to see the Grant Man. He is taking it all in and learning. This was an exceptional video today. As always thanks for the good work you put into them .
    TAKE CARE AND STAY COOL !!!

    Thanks for another great video Kip.
    It was interesting and enjoyable to watch.
    Looks like your air real is working good. Glad you got that. Most of the farm channels I watch have the air reals either Honey Bee or MacAnDon. All are good equipment.
    Glad your dad likes it.
    More hay cut and put in the bag. Your cut hay is looking good Kip. And your bags are looking good also. Will be nice for you when you get your mixer.
    Nice to see Grant out with you. Fine young man.
    Thanks for everything Kip. You all take care and be safe.

    Always found the air reel to be more of a pain in wheat then a benefit. Beans yes. We went with a air reel on our last header. Blows too much dirt into combine. But that's our ground.

  • @Ellison89Brett

    Should put the SF receiver and monitor on the combine to get accurate yield mapping and steering.

    I guess i wouldn't say you have to much feed the first year. How much is in a dag can very a good amount depending on how well there packed. The bags might work good for you but be happy you don't have deer and bears around the bags.
    Corn silage would work good to pile because it all gets chop at one time.
    But you should have a good facer to feed off a pile.

    Now Kip, where's the globe on the S670? I'm watching you miss 12-18". I know, you may not have enough wheat to warrant it for that crop but with beans and corn behind? Grant is paying attention, he's going to make a top hand sooner than you expect.

    • @Ellison89Brett
      @Ellison89Brett Месяц назад +1

      Deere Draper heads are much simpler and cut just as well. Hydraflex is superior, in my opinion.

      We've had decent luck with our john deere 640 flex draper on our S670, we've borrowed a macdon flex draper I wasn't impressed enough to switch brands of heads. On the soybean varieties that we used the macdon on, seemed like it shelled more beans than the deere before they got to the cutter bar. Yes, we were adjusting throughout the day

  • @jrolls38
    @jrolls38 Месяц назад

    So they spend all that time and fuel on rolling to keep the bumps down??. I thought it was for punching bigger rocks down so the combine header don't eat them. Seems silly if I understand this correctly.

    use concrete, not asphalt for your chopped corn pad. oil from the asphalt could contaminate your corn silage. Plus it won't last as long as concrete.
