Thanks, original ignition, original PJ carb, stock 168/65 jetting, and it starts and idles very well. Most people hate the PJ's, I don't have a problem with it.
Just bought one and want to put rite water pump cover on so it dont corode, can you suggest the rite one? Also heard ENGINE ICE cures this ? I run it in my 85 Cr and i think its starting to but dont have rite cover on it to prevent it!
I rebuilt my water pump using JB Weld and a die grinder, and a lot of patience. The "right" cover would be a newer style aluminum clutch/water pump cover, all the old mag covers end up rotting, regardless of coolant used. I am currently running Engine Ice after the refurb job though.
I believe the 86 is the same, but yes, it's an on or off deal, nothing smooth and "rider friendly" about it. Just a rude old goat (or bronco if you're not careful), and I love it!

I bought a Gnarly pipe for my 1988 cr500 just recently, they still make em
Oh hell yeah!
Can't wait to put my '85 together now.
Sounds mean. I like it. It even idles which is great. Original ignition or CR250?
That fatty pipe looks brand new and they stopped making those years ago for 500s
Haha, thanks!!!
Sweet
Beautiful
Thanks!
And you know this just by the sound? LOL

OK cool thanx, might have to getting your jetting specs too depending on how the big cat runs! Finishing YZ 465 as well!
I'm 14 weigh about 190 and I'm about 5 foot 11 do you think I could ride this? I'm thinking about buying one
Height and weight don't really matter much. If you have enough riding experience and can learn to respect the bike then you should be fine.
+jbsleddin I've got a kx125 so I have experience and I've ridden a 250 so I think I should be fine
Is the powerband hit total light switch on the 85 Cr 500 compared to 86 and newer?

Absolute must have for a Vintage MX BIKE Lover id say?
They don't make the Fatty anymore... :(
