About the performance itself, and I'm talking about the whole concert here, although this track is the best IMHO, seeing classical musicians smiliing and enjoying themself while playing classical techno tracks is as wonderful as seeing the audience yelling and dancing in front of a philharmonic ochestra. Two different worlds encounter for the best.

I own the dvd and I can tell to those who criticize the lowness of Jeff machines that it's absolutely not the case on the dvd. Listening to this on a Yamaha amplifier with 5.1 JBL system, the bass is round, warm and loud and the hi-hats are perfectly mixed with the orchestra. And about pointlessness of Jeff Mills presence on stage, I think the idea behind this experiment wasn't to transpose the tracks from electronic music to classical music, but rather to mix them together.
This is great fun and the ochestra sounds great. It all works. Some might say it's just a 909 on top of an ochestra. But imagine it the other way round and you have an epic techno track.

In addition to the originators, Drexciya (RIP James Stinson) and Dopplereffekt pushes the envelope and sets the bar high for Detroit Techno ingenuity. Much love to all of the ingenious brothas who inspired me as a kid growing up in the D.
i agree, if i had my way id have the drum machine blaring to full effct. i think he kept them low out of courtesy and respect for the orchestra. it still sounds great tho!!
