I have a feeling in the near futures the idea of the “damsel in distress” will turn into the “male in misery” with a female to save him… hopefully Disney won’t go that far
It was 2001 so fair enough but Chief had to save the blue lady from the Pillar of Autumn. He then got stranded on the Forward unto Dawn at the end of Halo 3. I haven’t liked Halos story since the Bungie games. Luckily not as a result of the issue you bring up. Unluckily just due to all round bad writing. Whether it’s retcons or iconic quote abuse it’s painful. Then there’s the scattered nature of the ‘Halo narrative’ with so many skipped, scrapped or failed ideas. Some ideas not even making it into the game and demanding you consume EU content to know what’s going on. The factions got too powerful and they lacked logical motivation too. 10 years of meandering. By this point in Bungie’s timeline we’d saved the world four times and failed [scripted] once. Plus Halo Wars 1 so that’s another world save in the bag. 5 saves. Well written saves.
