The mashup with Gogol Bordello is chef's kiss, right? 😅 So much fun and you can really feel the energy of that stadium. She just owns the stage, even during her iconic walk during Hung Up. Love that part and her stage presence - just phenomenal. 👌🏼

It was a hot day! Wembley stadium is a great venue and it was an amazing day full of great artists. We had to wait all day to watch her perform as she headlined. The crowd went nuts especially during Hung up, a real crowd pleaser considering they were not all there just to see her! It was sensational

    • @OurAnxiousReactions
      @OurAnxiousReactions  Месяц назад +2

Bet everyone in that crowd left the stadium a fan of hers! So happy that you were able to see this live (and a little jealous too 😉). Much love! ❤️❤️

    Oh my God!
La isla bonita performance is full of energy! Love this faster medley version! It makes you want to dance without stop!
    And Hung up!
    Woow wooow woooow !
Could anybody else make that performance with those Louboutin heels?
Madonna is the best performer of all time! She eats the stage!
    All the love, ladies!
    Thanks for this journey!

It's also so interesting that you just completed the Confessions era because Madonna just announced today that there will be new music from her and Stuart Price in 2025! ❤❤

She was so into Gogol Bordello back then. This was when we were introduced to them. She directed a short movie (Filth and Wisdom) starring Eugene Hutz. She took them on the Sticky and Sweet Tour. She even recorded a song called Latte using this chorus they wrote. This song was never released but can be found online as it leaked in 2010.

Hi again lol. That gentleman gave everything in his performance. You can see his love for music just by watching his passionate way of expressing himself. He playing that violin in Hung Up...I'm also jealous of whoever was there. There was CT with Hung Up and "La Isla Bonita" / "Lela Pala Tute" which are from the next Tour. The best of both worlds lol. Big hugs

Everything she does has meaning. One of the reasons she invited her romanian-gypsie friends to the stage was because at the time there was a racist sentiment against "gypsies" throughout Europe and specially in the UK. So, it was her way to support them, as she always does with minorities. They also participated in her first movie, her as a director; "Filth & Wisdom".
Thank U beautiful ladies for this!! Love U both.
Pd; Don't forget to react to her US Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction before you start the Hard Candy Era. Btw, I'm just noticing that you didn't react to her UK R&R Hall of Fame Induction which was before Confessions era! Anyway, you can do both!! ❤

Amazing exuberant remix of Las Isla Bonita and Gogol Bordello’s Lela Pala Tute gypsy song-a number she will reprise in her 2008/09 Sticky&Sweet Tour with the Kolpakov Trio, Russian Romani/gypsy musicians. Some fascinating background about Gogol Bordello, its flamboyant frontman/songwriter, Eugène Hütz and his collaboration with Madonna:
-Eugène Hütz was born near Kiev (Kyiv) in 1972. He descended from a musically inclined family, his dad of Ukrainian-Lithuanian ancestry and his mom of Romani lineage. The family fled their village in Ukraine after the ‘86 Chernobyl nuclear disaster, trekking through Easter European refugee camps until ‘92 when they were resettled in the U.S. as refugees. While in NYC he played with several bands, until he formed Gogol Bordello from expat Russian, Ukrainian, Romani and Jewish musicians. No doubt Hutz’ bravado and high spirited stage persona stems from his Romani/Gypsy genes.
-Gogol Bordello’s name was inspired by famed Ukrainian novelist Nikolai Gogol (died 1852 age 43) who wrote-Taras Bulba-(published 1835) a romanticized historical novel about the exploit of a 17th century Ukrainian Cossack chieftain and his 2 sons that inspired a 1962 Hollywood film starring Yul Brynner and Tony Curtis. Hütz and his father loved the Taras Bulba story and Gogol’s ideology of extolling Ukrainian nationalism and culture. Like Hütz’s family, Gogol also fled Russia after writing against the corruption in the Tsarist bureaucracy that drew the ire of the government.
-Madonna was aware of Hütz and Gogol Bordello from her early years in NYC when she frequented clubs featuring live punk, hard rock bands. In early 2007, she called Hütz to audition for the lead role of an aspiring musician in the film-Filth and Wisdom-with a screenplay that she co-wrote and was her first directorial stint. It was reported they had good chemistry from that call and Hütz not only played the main film character, he also wrote some of his lines in the script. Gogol Bordello also appeared in the film, and contributed 3 songs for the soundtrack, while Hütz also co-wrote 5 other tracks; Madonna added her Secret Garden and Erotica songs. The film was released in February 2008.
-Hütz also inspired the character Evgeni in Madonna’s 2011 film W.E., a historical romantic drama about Wallis Simpson and Edward VIII, that she wrote and directed.
-after their performance here in Live Earth, Madonna invited Gogol Bordello to join her for her then upcoming 2008/09 Sticky&Sweet tour, but earlier commitments precluded the band from touring with her. Hütz recommended to Madonna the Kolpakov Trio, Russian Romani musicians that he admired and collaborated with. Hütz called Vadim Kolpakov and asked his Trio to perform at Madonna’s birthday party in London that August of 2007. This Trio’s performance with Madonna later the following year in that tour was spectacular.
Madonna luvs to showcase lesser known artists from sub cultures that’s had a history of struggle against oppression and discrimination like the Romani Gypsies of Eastern Europe. She empathized with their experience and she uses her artistic platform to share her appreciation of their artistry with mainstream pop music world.
❤your joyful reaction to this concert. Very grateful to you for this Madonna journey.😊

      Aww, thank you! ❤️❤️
And thank you so much for the incredible background information on Bordello and Hütz. Absolutely fascinating!
Wish they could've gone on the Sticky & Sweet Tour with her, but we're excited to see the Kolpakov Trio too.

One of the things we really love about her - She's always used her platform to elevate others (and to enrich all of our lives in the process).
Sending so much love your way! ❤️

Great setlist. Incredible use of the stage. Her Live Earth performance was way better than Live Aid and Live 8 in my opinion. Incredible that she done all 3 through the years.
This was during her recording sessions for her next studio album "Hard Candy" and she would incorporate "Lela Pala Tute" in her demo "Latte" which would not make the album. But the demo is available online.

Hi ladies, I don't know if it's your next reaction, but I'm sure you're planning to do her induction into the Rock an Roll Hall of Fame, right? It happened around this time, right before the release of Hard Candy. I must warn you then that the official video on the Hall of Fame channel has better quality, but it has been criminally edited, taking away some very interesting bits both from Madonna's and Justin's speeches. There is a so called "full segment" recorded from the original live broadcast from a fan channel called Madonna Flashback. Make sure you'll watch the whole thing, cuz they're very good speeches and you wouldn't want to miss it! Love you both ❤
