The outro is pretty weird, but honestly Paul's whistling and guitar part right after the grime break is so soothing and really shows that even if you party all day and your schedule is always full, you gotta slow down and live life, enjoy the fruits of your labor.
Yes I know I'm responding 7 years later, but it's the "sample" test harmony Paul McCartney originally sent to Kanye, as Paul found the guitar run from a Picasso painting. Kanye turned that outro basically into the song, so Picasso -> Paul McCartney -> Kanye... masterpiece!
Kanye said himself that he is going to abandon the minimalist angst of YEEZUS and return to his more melodic pocket. We should see a return to the sampling, and if you listen to the flow, the arrogance is still there and the wordplay is improving. The slave line was a bit of a reach for me but people love it anyway (not sure Farrakhan will lol). So Help Me God should be something to look forward to

Jonmad17 writing is not the same as feature. paul and ye wrote it, why would they need rihanna to sing it then? Plus the guitar is pretty dry. I've heard the version with horns and trumpet, much better than the original
liked the review and agree with you about the song, however i dont agree when you said the "this is kanye west so lets not expect anything too deep or introspective" bit? Kanye to my mind is one of the most deep and introspective lyricists in hip hop currently, up there with lupe, kendrick bla bla. and you brought down the line "we in the muthafuckin house!" ??? that was a brilliant line with so many levels when you put it in the context with the whole verse and of course the line before it "like a light skinned slave boy" Anthony I think you may be one of these people whom kanye's lyrics go over your head, and thats a shame, because if you listen to his verses a couple times i often find you can peel back the layers and find some truly interesting and thought provoking stuff. often, though not always.
@Joshua Mitchell MBDTF is one if not Kanye’s most overrated project ever. Somehow I just don’t fw the project as a whole. There were definitely some highlights, however. Dark Fantasy, Gorgeous, Devil in a new dress & All of the lights were really enjoyable listens. The rest of the tracks just feel either like filler or overproduced. As said before, I overall did not really get the appeal of the project and the hype it keeps getting by avid fans who saw off their leg just to have Kanye spit on him. Again, there were highlights, but with the exception of the tracks I mentioned, there is a pretty good chance I won’t listen to that album again. Score = 4/10
The live version was absolutely better than the studio version. I can watch that performance over and over and love the song like the first time I saw the video.
I prefer the live version as well. It has more spirit and, well, not having "n*****" at the end of every line makes is more listenable as well. Definitely digging those keyboard flutes chirruping in the beat as well, I think he took that directly from Jon Brion (who produced Late Registration) as that sound is a trademark of his.
Got love for you Anthony... but not looking for or expecting deep perceptions on anything from Kanye? Are you kidding? MBDTF and Yeezus had some of the most thoughtful and rich rap songs released in recent memory... "Runaway" "Lost in the World" "Monster", "Black Skinhead", "New Slaves", "Blood on the Leaves"... All very political yet personal, artful and non-linear. And that follows through his entire discography as well. 808s was one of the most influential albums of the decade, Graduation is probably his most purely enjoyable album with some of the thoughtfulness and political touch of his other records, especially with the song "Flashing Lights". But College Dropout and Late Registration also attained a level of depth and complexity both in lyricism and production rarely seen today. ("Jesus Walks", "All Falls Down", "Spaceship", "Diamonds For Sierra Leone", "Heard Em Say", "Gone"). And he's only growing more and more as an artist. (One could argue otherwise as a celebrity). But I think his stuff just keeps getting more dense, more revealing, more perceptive, and more fascinating. Not necessarily better, sometimes his experimentalism winds up being to a fault, but he's never less than admirable, to me at least. "All Day" is probably one of his more lyrically straightforward tracks, but it's production and sound is as interesting as ever. I'm psyched for his new album, and surprised that someone as thoughtful and perceptive as you (Anthony) would refer to Kanye as someone we shouldn't expect anything thoughtful or perceptive from. Kind of a ridiculous statement to me.
The song is a commentary on African American youth and police brutality. The extravagant lifestyle and delinquency is juxtaposed by the "get low and stay low" calls from authority and then ultimately leads to "the let me run" outro which has a completely different vibe as to connotate an almost heavenly or outworldy experience representing death and peacefulness. Emphasising the unfortunate realities of youth growing up in gang culture with a very flawed perception of life and little to no opportunities.
My favourite Kanye song since "I'm In It". I loved Yeezus, but I agree that it didn't have the strength at times where Kanye would've undeniably have wanted it. "All Day" has the punch that "Only One" and "FourFive Seconds" absolutely needed: I want my bass-heavy Kanye, and this is it :)
"it is Kanye were not looking for any deep perception" are you kidding me? Heard Em Say All Falls Down Homecoming Gorgeous New Slaves. All songs with deeper meaning/undertones. I know this isn't THAT kind of song, more of just a club banger like niggas in Paris, but that was a boneheaded comment
Recently he unveiled the music video for "All Day" in Paris. Someone recorded and posted it on youtube. In the video there's sort of like a second half of the song where the hard hitting beat fades away after the synth part in the studio version and is replaced with him saying "I don't feel like this all the time." He says some other stuff too having to deal with feeling alone and things of that nature. It's hard to make everything out, but he's definitely confessing some insecurities. I think the song WILL have a lot more meaning and introspectiveness (if that's a word) within the context of the album. Even before I saw that clip it felt like the song was saying something else besides the usual Kanye ego spewing that people normally associate with him. I'm excited to see where he takes things with this new project.
How can Anthony say that "All Day" - a song about balling and smoking - is better than "Black Skinhead" - a song about establishmentarianism and racism?
I like Black Skinhead more, but your logic makes it seems like a message makes a song good almost no matter how it sounds. But these are that, songs, and are judged for how they sound, first. How many of the songs that are considered the greatest songs, or are your favorite songs, are protest songs or alike?

It's quite honestly embarrassing to hear Anthony's opinion on Kanye. You're still parroting the same phrases and opinions you had on him like five years ago. Do your opinions never change or develop. Does your taste never refine itself? I guess you're trying to keep some continuity but at least be honest enough to admit that you were wrong on My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Yeezus. History has objectively proven you wrong on those albums. You have critics, musicians and people in the music business giving universal acclaim to those albums but in your arrogance and stubbornness, you still remain on the side of the confused 'top 40' listening general public who didn't get and were confused by those two albums becaues it challenged them too much. Absolutely nothing compares to what Kanye did post 808s within the hip-hop genre. It's observable and his name will be permanently attached to the genre. Everyone who's even moderately interested in music can see his unparalleled contribution and sophisticated approach to the genre. I can't take a guy seriously who puts Graduation, which features some of his worst songs by far like Barry Bonds and Drunk and Hot Girls, above 808s, MBDTF and Yeezus. It's even more ridiculous coming out of your mouth. I've watched you for many years and I know you like experimental music that doesn't care about commercial performance. So why do you dislike Kanye's outputs post 808s? It doesn't make any sense seeing how you judge and value music. Your opinions on most hip-hop music were always strange and ill informed. You were hellbent on disliking Drake for as long as he had a music careers until you realized that you were on the wrong track once again while everyone else was praising him so you made a complete 180. Most of your favorite hip-hop albums are some of the most safe picks you can make. Madvillainy and 36 Chambers? I guess if you disliked those nobody would care about your opinions on the genre. Just admit that hip-hop isn't really your thing, you even made a video about it. You review hip-hop because it gets you the most views.
GOD, you hit the nail on the head with the graduation point. Not just Anthony but ppl in general over hype that album. Graduation is objectively looking one of his worst albums, not a bad album. I love when ppl say "he needs to talk about social commentary" or "kanye doesn't talk about anything" but turn around & say graduation is his best album
Steb Fantano has strong contrarian views when it comes to Kanye. I don't know if he just does it for attention or to please the big general mainstream crowd that hates Kanye but he pretty much stands alone as a critic when he dismisses MBDTF and Yeezus. There are very few albums that are as universally acclaimed as MBDTF, I'm talking about the likes of Beatles and velvet underground. There are still a few contrarian idiots who try to discredit those albums but any critic and person who appreciates music sees those albums as milestones in popular music history.
Basketharry "There are very few albums that are as universally acclaimed as MBDTF," Ok...but theneedledrop doesn't think it is a classic album. Why can't you understand that? He doesn't care about what other people say. In his opinion, he think MBDTF is a 6/10. (Which i totally fucking disagree with) but that doesn't mean that he is somehow wrong. " I don't know if he just does it for attention or to please the big general mainstream crowd that hates Kanye" He does it because he doesn't enjoy MBDTF or see the hype. Simple as that.
Is like this guy (and so many rap heads) never likes the boring stuff and that's just where all the kanyes sauce always is. All day lyrics are in fact very deep and self consiouss as well as completly sarcastic and ironic, but they're just expecting him to stick to rap's statu quo
You didn't like "Wolves"? I love that song! It's like a new add-on to "808s and Heartbreak". It does run kinda slow but I'm guessing it's supposed to be like that since it's the first track of the album. Maybe it's just setting the tone. As for "All Day", I really like it! It is a song I would play with all of those other "trap anthems". Something to add, I appreciate Kanye approaching semi-known producers, like Cashmere Cat and HudMo/TNGHT, and not taking the easy way out and going for the biggest producers in the game to help make his album...
yea the live version had me FUCKIN HYPED. But i still bump the studio version a shit load. Thats my jam right now. Its just a fun song. Not supposed to be super intellectual, of course. You gotta have a certain way of thinking to appreciate the art of it.
This would’ve fit perfectly on The Life Of Pablo, since TLOP is a Kanye record that has elements of every Ye record and this one sounds like the TLOP new fresh sound (such as on Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1, Pt. 2, Waves & FACTS) mixed with the Yeezus and 808’s & Heartbreak sound at the outro
When I first heard this song the past weekend, I thought Kanye rhyming with nigga and the transition to Paul McCartney and Theophilus' were off putting at first, However I think his flow and the beat as a whole made up for it since i've caught myself playing this song on repeat for a majority of my school day.
I don't understand people who loved RTJ (1 and 2) but disliked Yeezus. They basically have the same type of production ,but Kanye took it to another level. Time will make you all realise that Yeezus is phenomenal album and noone will surpass it, not even Kanye. All Day and Wolves sound quite lame and boring compared to any track in Yeezus.
I agree with you. Yeezus will most likely stand alone and unmatched in his discography. The whole vibe at that time and the recording process were just too unique. It can't be replicated, he most likely will never be as pissed off as he was while recording Yeezus.
Well first of all, the beats off RTJ 1&2 don't sound anything from Yeezus. Second, RTJ 1&2 are miles ahead of Yeezus lyrically. Third, pretty much every single one of Kanye's previous albums (except 808's because that album can eat a dick) are WAY better than Yeezus. Lyrically, and production-wise.
Hurfdurflol That doesn't make it an interesting subject matter. In fact, if everyone raps about it, that just makes it boring as fuck, the same thing everyone talks about. Look at Magna Carta Holy Grail as a great example of that subject matter being mundane as shit.
I gotta agree with you Fantano. Always loved his earlier work, with the exception of MBDTF. I'll hold out for a little longer though; hearing All Day in the context of the album will probably help out a little bit.

I want hot pockets.
This song is pure energy aggression and passion and I loved every second, nobody is fucking with 'Ye bruhbruh .
If Kendrick would have done this, it would have been the best shit ever..
theres a kendrick verse of this song, but he basically says everything Kanye says
I'm saying that about him. He would rave about it because it's Kendrick.
oh ok i get ya
But if Lil' Wayne made this you would probably be saying its shit, because of the amount of times he said 'nigga'...
***** Actually kendrick made the reference track for kanye on this lmao
i went on your page to see if you did to pimp a butterfly yet, i loved it, cant wait for that review
The Big Sean review or whatever u want to call it was pure bullshit. Its not a perfect album but i enjoyed it.
Still mad about that? Lol ok
Nice music taste lol
Click the link he puts up on that video. He properly reviewed it with another youtuber ARTV. He gives actual reasons.
Nigga that was weeks ago
NO ITS ALL DAY NIGGA
New God Flow leaked, live/acapella before studio version. Also a good song, just remember thinking i liked the live version of that more as well.
0:09 can't believe you leaked the donda cover 6 years before it came out like that melon
Hey what’s wrong with FourFiveSeconds
Got legit Kayne West- All Day Official Music video and Clear Audio. Plus Free Download!
this should've made the life of pablo
yea the live version had me FUCKIN HYPED. But i still bump the studio version a shit load. Thats my jam right now. Its just a fun song. Not supposed to be super intellectual, of course. You gotta have a certain way of thinking to appreciate the art of it.
Anchovy Fanogni how do I appreciate Kanye's music? When I listen I just hear a black man screaming for help. What am I doing wrong?
Just hating someone because who they are and not focusing on what matters the music
Maybe there's a black man outside your window screaming for help, close your windows and give him another listen.
Great review Baldthony Fagtano
Tame Impala "Let it Happen".... Anthony, It's already been a couple hours since its release... Move Faster.. Move Faster... You're going too slow...
William Haynes mix tape.
When I first heard this song the past weekend, I thought Kanye rhyming with nigga and the transition to Paul McCartney and Theophilus' were off putting at first, However I think his flow and the beat as a whole made up for it since i've caught myself playing this song on repeat for a majority of my school day.
808s mustve grown on anthony
I like the performance better than the studio version mainly because he had grime mc's like skepta, stromzy, krept and konan, etc on stage with him.
Since when were Only One, Wolves, and FourFiveSeconds horrific??????? L take.
wolves was pretty horrific when it came out. the mix changes made it much much better
Listen to the OG Wolves
just a correction, the vocal contribution was from allan kingdom not theophilus london
ALLDAYNIGGA
Damn I didn't know Logic's brother, Knowledge had a RUclips channel
@@Hotmanlion12 no
@@supertype1792 Wow, you’re really out here replying to 5 year old RUclips comments?
@@Hotmanlion12 yeah why not
Im a huge fan of his first 3 records
I'm so mad that this didn't include on TLOP. I love this song even more than Ultralight Beam and pretty much 95% of the album.
Slow down now.... Ultralight Beam is one of the greatest songs of the decade. Cmon. Some respect for it, bb.
Never thought I'd hear Anthony say nice things about Kanye West. This is surreal.
Trap influenced
This song gives me flashes of the "They Say" Kanye that we all missed. For anyone that has yet to hear that verse, do your ears a favor.
I still can't get over the fact that you didn't like Yeezus. It baffles me.
It's gonna be a chill fun album. Personally I loved Wolves though...
Calling 45 seconds horrific is insane
Hi, respect for still vibin with this song in 2024
i dont get what he didnt like about mbdtf and 808s i thought they were his best albums ffs id honestly give mbdtf at least 9.5/10
i'm sick and tired of the cocky "look how much money i got" Kanye
but that's who he is now, deal with it ya wank
every rapper raps about having money, but when it's one of the few that might actually have that money(99% of them dont have shit) everyone gets upset
Hurfdurflol That doesn't make it an interesting subject matter. In fact, if everyone raps about it, that just makes it boring as fuck, the same thing everyone talks about. Look at Magna Carta Holy Grail as a great example of that subject matter being mundane as shit.
He had loads of boastful lines on the college dropout, late registration and graduation. No idea what you're talking about tbh
Ummm he rarely had any songs like that on yeezus. Plus wolves and only one...........
I gotta agree with you Fantano. Always loved his earlier work, with the exception of MBDTF. I'll hold out for a little longer though; hearing All Day in the context of the album will probably help out a little bit.
