Felt needs vs Eternal life

Pastor Phil explains Most people have heard of Maslows (Abraham Maslow, famous American Psychologist) for explaining: Hierarchy of Needs 1) Physiological Needs 2) Security and Safety Needs
3) Love and belonging
4) Esteem Needs
5) Self-Actualisation Needs-
Maslow’s theory explains how human beings think of obtaining life through the fulfilment of physiological needs.
The bible would certainly not refute our needs for physical provision, a sense of safety, a sense of love and belonging, or a sense of worth and respect from others.
However, the “growth need”, as interpreted in secular psychology, is based on a denial of man’s depravity and the false notion that mankind is basically good.
Romans says: “there is none righteous, no, not one” we all need salvation and His forgiveness and love.
Biblically, we know our deepest need is for relationship with God, which comes only through salvation in Jesus Christ
Jhn 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (NKJV)
· Of course, our spiritual needs for forgiveness and a relationship with our Creator are missing from Maslows pyramid.
· Still Maslows hierarchy of needs are valid, although most people have a hard time distinguishing “needs” from “wants”
· Saying all that:
· From a biblical perspective, our most pressing need is for Jesus and the Truth of God
While being tempted in the desert, Jesus answered: Mat 4:4 But He answered and said, "It is written, 'MAN SHALL NOT LIVE BY BREAD ALONE, BUT BY EVERY WORD THAT PROCEEDS FROM THE MOUTH OF GOD.' " (NKJV)
This statement from our Lord seems to explode the base of Maslow’s pyramid: = Our basic need are not physiological , but spiritual.
“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Now to our God and Father be glory forever and ever. Amen.”
