    Hey! I appreciate this link demonstrating the forester blade! I now know what to expect when using it and I will take your advice, to just use it to tackle the limbs and small branches and not on the ground. I will purchase that carbide blade. It’s worth having a blade that will last longer for the work I have to do. Thanks a bunch for this! I did subscribe and am looking forward to more of your expertise. 👍🏾

    I'm trying it on the M18 trimmer this weekend. Hopefully the electric motor has enough oomph, and overload protectors don't kick in.

    Was looking for Brush blade - will try Renegade (after ordering I see where they make 6 different blade types). I will leave chainsaw work to my chainsaw (faster & safer).

    Good review, and thank you for helping to sort a lot of these problems out. I am beginning to get the picture, esp. from this video, that the "chain saw" type blade is great for wood, but not so much for brush. Well, brush has a lot of woody stuff in it, and woody brush is my problem. So what would be the recommendation for "best WOODY BRUSH blade?". All comments welcome.

    I’ve used both blades quite a lot. Started with the garbage stihl blades (dulled in 2-3 minutes) then moved to the forrester blades they dull in 20-30 minutes of heavy cutting to the carbide forrester blades. Those will cut ok for an hour at best. The forrester reg blades took me 20 minutes to sharpen and I know how to sharpen chainsaw blades. The carbide forresters took an hour+ to resharpen. Then I found renegades. That’s all I use now and I usually buy them in 3 packs. I ca normally get a season out of one blade unless I hit metal that destroys several of the teeth. I started with an fs110 but for brush cutting I’ve switched to an fs240. The forresters are heavier which holds momentum but they offset that by the huge kerf compared to the renegades. There’s honestly no comparison where the forresters come out on top.

    I bet if you put the brush guard back on, you could use it like a dog stop, and wedge it into the wood, so you can keep better control of the saw, when it's in the wood.

    Can this brush cutter blade fit on any model of Stihl weed trimmers?

    • @PineyGroveHomestead
      @PineyGroveHomestead  9 месяцев назад +3

      Stihl should have the arbor size specs online for your machine, but for the most part, the arbor size is universal, but I did need a special washer from Stihl to hold on the blade.

    It seems very effective at cutting down those low-hanging limbs, but I'd be pretty nervous about a fast-spinning open blade above my head that has no way to stop quickly. While it seems convenient, and not to be a wimp, I think I will stick to something more specifically designed for this purpose, like a pole saw.

    • @PineyGroveHomestead
      @PineyGroveHomestead  11 месяцев назад +1

      I think for cutting tree limbs the Forester is a good choice, but the Renegade is more versatile and won't require re-sharpening!

      I think the Forester is too much blade for a battery trimmer....the Renegade hybrid is probably a better match for electric. Maybe a smaller diameter one! Here's another video: ruclips.net/video/rYqVkYaOn0U/видео.html

    • @PineyGroveHomestead

      I would use a string trimmer for weeds. If it's too thick for that, then the carbide tipped Renegade would be best.
