The fact that you care about your videos and content but not what people think about it makes this one of the best channels. Love the honesty and cigar approach!
I really do hope they do away with ADs. I’m tired of the the games they play. One should be able to spend $10k on a product without kissing some AD’s a**!
Rolex having boutiques would be a game changer, but they’d have to keep a decent stock and dispense with the preferred client list thing or it’d be pointless.
I have watched the video made by tokkante when he just released it and send it around to several channel (i.e. B&J) because I thought it could disappoint some rolex fanboy but nobody took it seriously...you rule man! I appreciate your freedom!!! Cheers
You mean YOU sent it around? Cause I sure didn't... and yeah I get it, I was also told I really shouldn't share this publicly but I mean come on.. someone actually told me: "I'm afraid for your safety"
Fair play, Oisín. You are a very generous chap with the swag and the time given to the channel. Dublin as a Rolex location! The Celtic Tiger or Phoenix must be on the horizon! Stay safe, man. ☘️
Love your channel. You remind me of a friend who got me into high end watches. More sophisticated than I but never failing to help me get into cigars, watches, luxury good etc. Thank you for great content.
I love the JLC Reverso Duoface, I loved it and got a steel one a while back, a great versatile watch in a class of its own. Definitely a keeper and has more wrist time that I thought it would along with a few character enhancing marks on the case. Like most of us I buy my watches to wear and openly accept that there will be some added character to the watch on my journey through life.
As a new subscriber, I loved this video and all the information about Rolex and its parallels with Apple, very interesting. I have started to see more videos and they seem to me to be well done and very different from the rest of the watch channels. By the way, I live for 5 years in Greystones ( Wicklow) near your city, Dublin. Thanks for sharing.
It’s about time Rolex Boutiques roll out. Knightsbridge or Chelsea in London would be a logical locations. Beverly Hills. Monaco. I love your Speedy with the leather band! Beauty
I’m curious what percentage of AD’s are selling to the grey market by the boatload. Considering the AD mark-up is 38%, I am also curious what the actual price would be. I think MSRP could drop a few grand.
Rolex has one of the best marketing departments in the world in my opinion and it wouldn’t make any sense for them not to sell as many watches as humanly possible
Buddy, I work for ☘ ✈ here in Dublin, please get in touch, I'd love to make sure you're looked after when you're coming home from Italia! Love the channel 👌
Frankly it all sounded pretty plausible. I've heard separately that crowns and hands for some reason are really tricky and that there are very few suppliers for them. Id be stunned if Rolex were not producing watches they could (although one could quibble over their chosen product mix - less lady datejusts would make people happy). I think the biggest issue would be rolex selling direct to consumers - I wonder what approach would they take - first come first served or preferred customer?
Great content man! Congratulations on the magazine. It would be cool to see a video on your entire watch collection along with what your grails are that you haven't yet obtained.
The Rolex boutique would be great. I have said it for years. They "should" have every model. You should be able to place your order there and if not pick it up there, you could have it delivered through your choice AD. Imagine though, just going into a boutique that has absolutely every model (again, maybe you couldn't take delivery) but you could order. At least you could try on and actually hold, touch, feel what you are dropping $10K + dollars on. Would be great. May not be able to get your watch faster, but you would feel a lot better about dropping the money!
Valuable info, there ! Though, I think we all have at least ten times as more top priority questions to ask high postioned Rolex officials ! Anyway, every pice of inside information is much appreciated !!!
Great Video Oisin , By the way it’s interesting that the Ben Bridge Chain is doing major construction here in San Diego and building a huge upgraded ROLEX BOUTIQUE inside the Ben Bridge store . I’ll post some photos tomorrow as I am picking up a new GMT Batman that I just got the call on . My AD told me that it’s a major project that Ben Bridge and Rolex are partnering on . So I wonder if we are starting to see exactly what you mentioned on your video . Usually Ben Bridge locations have a small area usually no more than 25 sq M . From the looks of the site the new Rolex Boutique inside of Ben Bridge is well over double that size . I’ll try to post pics for you all to see .
Definitely makes sense, my AD hinted that Rolex want to be positioned as the “Patek” whereas Tudor to be the new Rolex. I like the idea of the boutique only I have a decent relationship built over a few years with my AD so would be a shame to start from scratch. I wonder what the barrier for entry would be with regards to steel with the boutiques? I hope that this doesn’t mean steel model acquisition will be equivalent to acquiring aquanauts etc. Keep them coming, excellent content as usual!
Great video. Congrats on the mag feature. My local Rolex AD in North West England is ridiculous. I've been on a "wait list" for a sub for 18 months but they've now said I need to buy other watches if I want one. They've also claimed they've only had 2 subs in over the last 12 months. I find the latter very hard to believe - and if it were true, then it wouldn't make any difference how many DayDates I bought would it....
So this billion dollar company couldn't produce any more stainless Steel models a year... I'm sorry but that is Total BS. Maybe they have reached factory limitations, Fair enough, but what's stopping them Building a second or third factory?? It would pay for itself in 6 months. They know exactly what they are doing, don't believe a word. And it's the same deal with outsourcing. They are resourceful enough to sort such a tiny obstacle if they chose too.
Rolex is owned by a Foundation. They're not motivated for maximum short term profit... Most managers probably want stable job security and prestige, so persistent shortage is perfect for them
Whining. They can run their business as they see fit. They aren’t making coffee cups. There are only so many watchmakers, and only so much long term demand. You act like they owe you something. They are a private foundation and their goal has never been to ship the most watches. You simply don’t get it.
Oisin - I’ve always doubted Rolex throttled production…. They have nothing to gain monetarily (other than exclusivity)😎 Cognac please and thank you…. 😆😂🤣 Great info
Hands from outside Rolex has been known about for a while but didn’t know about the others or the polishing, demand has outstripped supply for the last few years but don’t tell anyone as conspiracists won’t like that. A Rolex boutique would be awesome, but at what cost to the AD network, also the problem of lack of stock won’t go away. Shame about the Daytona not gaining a MM or two, would help its readability. Finally, as for the Speedy, well that looks just stunning on a strap as it is a strap monster. A good video, interesting to get an ‘insight’ into the world of the mighty Rolex. Thanks.
I saw the orginal video, but of course had to watch yours. On those straps, and other leather goods they do look great. 19mm will fit the older smaller speedys. Not only Carl's straps, I often shake my head on people who will only use OEM's, and look down on those who buy quality aftermarket. Wanted the blue rubber silicon strap for my Seamaster 300m, if you can find one the price is over $600, bought a Zealande strap on sale off Amazon, plus used some credit. Quality is on par, only major difference is it uses a buckle and tang, which saves you even more if you have to snag an Omega clasp, which I admit looks and functions a little better, but it's under your wrist, not a major issue. I want to check Carls website out for myself. It's also good you have a good sponsor, one must have money to make quality video's, of which I say yours is. And FWIW, not going to go for the give away, and I watch all or most of your stuff.
Congratulations man. You deserve it! Great conversational company, drink, watch loco as myself, cigars have their damn place, just like single malt Islay Scotch. Cudos.
I understand that the movements were made by a another company until 2004. And that company has been absorbed by Rolex as they were their on customer. From their beginning they outsourced movements. Also the bands/bracelets were even made in the USA in the sixties.
That company was Aegler and they only had one customer, Rolex, who even made them have Rolex signage on their premises instead of Aegler . They bought the company in 2004. They did the same with their case and bracelet makers.
FYI , all the "outsourcing is being done by Rolex owned subsidiary companies owned by Rolex ) just a bit of trivia learned from a family friend that was an executive for 30+ yrs at Rolex.
Interesting stuff. The Rolex boutiques are welcome news, finally we may have direct access to their watches and not have to pay way above retail through the secondary channels. Loving that classy JLC pairs nicely with that high quality strap. Here’s a watch that may suit you - IWC Portugieser with the red dial. Pure class, will go nicely with your style. Very much a double take piece. Looking forward to reading the Arena Homme+ article and thought your participation on Archie Luxury was a blast, right on the money about some online dealers coming across as car salesmen knowing little about silicon hair springs and the like. Onwards and upwards!
I did see his video previously. Great information. Glad you picked it up. Your greater viewership will allow the word to spread. I was wondering if you will ever do a video on your collection? I was wondering if your Yachtmaster is still there?
A bit dated in my comment but Rolex has put up a boutique storefront in the University Town Center mall in Sarasota, Florida. Just a few doors down from Mayors Jewelers aka Watches of Switzerland. Expected opening date Winter or Spring 2026. Signage already up.
I’ll say one thing about Marc Goldberg and his so called money penny source. He was the only RUclipsr with inside information who correctly announced the batgirl and Pepsi returning to an oyster bracelet prior to watches and wonders 2021.
Same announcement was made on Rolex Passion Report. Dunno if it was before or after. Austin Daniels called BS when he heard it from MG. Then later made a huge retraction when he heard it from RPR. Low and behold it was true. Good on the three of them. (I watch way too much RUclips.)
Interesting how the assumption is made that “the only thing holding Rolex back is the outsourcing .. they have to wait for these other people ….” Have you considered the possibility that it’s smart business to have such vendors and without them you’d be waiting even longer for your watches?

I really do hope they do away with ADs. I’m tired of the the games they play. One should be able to spend $10k on a product without kissing some AD’s a**!
Spending 10 grand and being made too feel like they are doing YOU a massive favour, no thanks. One of the growing reasons why I would not buy a rolex.
At least my ad sells affordable watch brands
so rolex should own their own boutiques like RM?
Rolex having boutiques would be a game changer, but they’d have to keep a decent stock and dispense with the preferred client list thing or it’d be pointless.
The palm fronds were Rolex’s response to the demand for tropical dials.

IMO the Daytona rumour was spread by the grey dealer network to bump up prices, and it worked a treat. The grey dealers love a 'discontinued' watch
