The scene with Captain Donnelly, Lieutenant Gates, and the two "munchkins" was my favorite sequence of the movie. 41:53 "We represent the Lollypop Guild!" 🤣🤣
Fun fact: Rondo Hatton (the brute man) played essentially the same role as a secondary character in Sherlock Holmes and the Pearl of Death alongside the great Basil Rathbone.
Rondo Hatton was a gentle giant, according to everyone who knew him. He passed away much too soon. Only 51. And, in High School, before the disease took him over, he was voted the Handsomest Boy in High School. No joke. He was so handsome!
I like how they said we can watch the development of a baby chick "with the magic of special photography" bruh, they just cracked open a bunch of different eggs at different points of development, there were no survivors.
Damn, he might not be responsible for the chemicals that burned his face, but Tom is certainly responsible for shooting out both his Crown Jewels. That was cold.
Please make season 14 (with 14 movies and 14 shorts this time). S13 was a vast improvement over the previous ones despite the limitations. The Foreverathon is the perfect platform.
Oh yes.... the Brute Man. I believe this is MST3Ks first Universal Horror film and boy is this one a divisive episode. Putting the tragedy that was Hatton's life aside and the distribution issues, the Brute Man suffers from the same problems that the Silver and Bronze age of Universal Horror suffered from. I will elaborate. This movie came out five years after the Wolf Man. While I have my own opinion, the film was a financial and critical darling and the Brute Man has simular elements. The Wolfman had a great cast and a great use of budget. There was something there that allowed the film to stand shoulder to shoulder with Frankenstein and Dracula. The Brute Man doesn't so as a result the flaws stand out. The wishy washy portrayal of it's title character is annoying despite Hatton doing everything he can in his performance. Lon Chaney jr managed to make a stalking adulterous manchild look like a tragic hero as what happened to him was mostly beyond his control. The Creeper does not have that excuse. He knows exactly what he's doing so any attempt to make him sympathetic falls flat. The Wolf Man had a strong supporting cast, like Claude Raines as one of the most tragic examples of the Agent Scully. The Brute Man is full of REALLY stupid people who don't act like people. And yet.... I do not hate this film. Universal Horror has a weird campy charm to it and that magic can be felt here. Even the Leech Woman had a Comic Book concept that would make a cool comic book story. Same here. Also if you feel the same way, check out the Creepers one other film, House of Horrors. It hasn't aged well either, but Hatton gives it his all.
This movie is actually fairly watchable as far as Poverty Row movies from the 40s go. Better than what I'm used to at least. Seems to have more than three locations, the opening credits are kinda fun, the camera isn't locked down and far away like a stage production - not as good as the movie it was probably paired with in the double bill but it seems perfectly reasonable. Episode's hilarious too, Mike losing it at the store owner is a highlight.
I like it in its original airing quality. And tracking down the interpositive film for The Brute Man and scanning it in a higher quality would be difficult, impossible if it doesn't exist anymore.
35:53 Mike just losing it over the Crotchety Old Shopkeeper is one of my all-time favorite in-theater moments! 😆
Mike laughing at the bit of the Grocery store owner is quite a treat👌🤣👍
''Creeper creeper creeper. You are giving me the creeps!''
Hate to admit this but MST3K gang can make watching poultry farming fun
This is one of my favorite episodes because Mike just completely loses his s*** and starts cracking up
They are on fire this episode. One of their most underrated in my opinion.
The scene with Captain Donnelly, Lieutenant Gates, and the two "munchkins" was my favorite sequence of the movie.
41:53 "We represent the Lollypop Guild!" 🤣🤣
One of my top 5 favorites!
There was so much laughing amongst Mike & the bots in this one. "Here's a toenail!", always gets me🤣

I think I remember an AMC special segment on him that referenced these two roles.
Pretty cool. All of those old Holmes movies are on YT as well
@@4000Wiggins yeah, they're a lot of fun and they're different from the books because several are mixes of multiple of Doyle's stories.

Just read about the guy - Rondo got a raw deal
I remember the Chicken of Tomorrow like it was the chicken of yesterday....
Me too!
I was thinking that that honestly would have been fun to watch in 1960 or whatever. It's not like you could watch videos on RUclips.
I like how they said we can watch the development of a baby chick "with the magic of special photography" bruh, they just cracked open a bunch of different eggs at different points of development, there were no survivors.
Chicken sliced to the width of one electron....
Damn, he might not be responsible for the chemicals that burned his face, but Tom is certainly responsible for shooting out both his Crown Jewels. That was cold.
Rondo was apparently a rather handsome guy until his condition (acromegaly, supposedly caused by his exposure to a poisonous gas in WW1) started.
Yay! More classic MST3K! Thank you, Shout Factory and Best Brains!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
How much?
A dollar and a quarter.
Here’s a toenail.
The chicken of tomorrow, in the deadly battle against the chicken of today!

Well, you DID elaborate...
I agree. Ravenloft got me into the old Universal and Hammer horror movies.
@@MinscFromBaldursGate92 What does that have to do wi-oh nevermind.
Justice for Rosdower!

This is a great episode …really great!
One of my favorites! Thanks for uploading!
34:30
Mike loses it while the bots indulge the overacting.
10,000 YEARS IN AN EGG CAN GIVE YOU SUCH A CRICK IN THE NECK
seems like a good 50% of the population was in a bad mood back then LOL
The Creeper should never be confused with the Creeping Terror.
Creeper, Creeper, Creeper...you give ME the creeps!
The opening was so confusing to me! Making it without TV's Frank and changing it to a solo theme song with Pearl acting as "mom".
😅hilarious episode good riffing good host segments
I liked Paul Chaplin as the smarmy boyfriend
You said the exact same thing last episode
Look who’s talking, Rondo.
Trace was in top form in season 7.
"And noooooooow the end is near "
Every character in movies like this makes you wonder exactly how much the wars screwed them up. Dumb, mean, and LOUD.
Can't believe they shot Hal's sizzler off!
Forgot the character's name, but the villain's henchman in "The Rocketeer" was deliberately made up to resemble Rondo
Poor chickens :(
Mike is the best host they ever had
Top two for sure
"I'm not a burg'ar" *I'm a hotdog*
What's the matter don't you like it?
"Yeah...I'm afraid"
You don't trust me?
No.
shot him in the yarbles! OUCH! 1:17:00
this must have a Rondo Award nomination by now I would think, if not that ends this year!
8:54 Nice of the short to be so candid about itself.
Boy i miss the 1st episodes of this show they where the 👌 best
This short. I’m embarrassed to be from Texas.
Brute Man: “Creeper, creeper, creeper! I give me the creeps… hey!”
480, rly?!
lol the toffet
33:17 She hasn't seen anyone because She is BLIND..... 🙄
41:10 "Acting"
A rare example of Netflix’s copyright BS actually helping the community by filtering all the new episodes OFF RUclips
Nah. I like the new episodes too. Not as much as i like mikes, but about equal to joels.
Wow, they used chicken propaganda to sell high quality oil & gas.....
480p? you have failed as a media company.
Also, it's free...so you're welcome.
“Free tv show from 30 years ago isnt up to my video qwality standwards 😢”
Oh no! The 30 year old show isn't in 4K 60 fps! It's a National Emergency!
I like it in its original airing quality. And tracking down the interpositive film for The Brute Man and scanning it in a higher quality would be difficult, impossible if it doesn't exist anymore.
Do me a kindness, as Winnebago Man put it, and LOOK UP THE FECUND OAD [Original Air Date].
yo, this is mad godly
