@@patriotjedimaster1450 The paint seals it. No other weather proofing needed. You can repaint every couple of years to make sure no moisture is getting in. Especially if the sun is on a particular area more than others.

I would recommend cedar, but it is so expensive. I did pine and treated it with pesticide.

They will sag over time. Why didn’t you put a dado joint?
Been up over 2 years and still look great.
@ In my experience I’ve noticed that they will look great for around five ish years. Then start to sag.
