- Each honoree inducted into the National Wrestling Hall of Fame & Museum has a video highlighting their career.
Here is the video for Andre Metzger, who was inducted as a Distinguished Member in 2017.
Distinguished Members can be a wrestler who has achieved extraordinary success in national and/or international competition; a coach who has demonstrated great leadership in the profession and who has compiled an outstanding record; or a contributor whose long-term activities have substantially enhanced the development and advancement of the sport.
Andre was a four-time All-American and a two-time NCAA Wrestling champion for Sooner Wrestling in 1981 and 1982. He won a bronze medal at the 1979 World Championships in San Diego, becoming the youngest American to medal in the World Championships at the age of 19 - a record that stood for 36 years. He also holds the distinction of having a move, which is still used today, named after him with the “Metz”.
Honoree videos are created by Dave "Doc" Bennett, who we honored with our Order of Merit award in 2015.
