  • I went up the moutain in Krysuvik and launched a drone. Ongoing eruption is seen in a distance from 01:50 and 04:21. This is how Reykjanes peninsula looks today. At 03:03 Litlihrutur lavafiled from July 2023. At 02:55 Keflavik At 03:22 Reykjavik At 03:32 Kelifarvatn lake. At 03:12 Mount Keilir and 03:01 Vogar village 03:19 Vigdisarvellir Valley (Valleys of Vigdis). 04:03 South Coast Highway across "Krysuvik fires lava" from 1151 (last connection line to Grindavik) as Road 43 had went under lava. UPDATE: First houses of Grindavik go under lava. Lava floods road 43 which connects the city with airport and Reykjavik. New fissure opened up right next to houses of Grindavik at 12:30 pm. The Volcanic Eruption started this morning around 8 am Icelandic time southeast of Hagafell mountain, north of Grindavik and the new lava wall which has not been completed. Lava is running towards the machinery which had been used to build the wall. Its smaller eruption comparing to December one. It can be observed from this livecam at Thorbjorn volcano north of Grindavik:

You deserve a Press badge! Better reporting than Skynews, DW, etc. If only they’d let you drive in about 4km away to drone 🙏🇮🇸

It is good the gases are blowing out to sea today. This view you share is a valid perspective and lends to scale. We can see the December eruption fissure farther to the north (right) is also outgassing vigorously. Every day that the citizens of Reykjavik can breath easy is one of good fortune, for as long as these fissures remain active.
Your dedication to covering eruptions is appreciated. You demonstrate your determination every time you hike up one of these rugged peaks and give us the views of a lifetime.

Nicely done, that footage gave a different view and an idea the size of the fissure. You also have respected the flight ban beautifully and you stayed away from danger. The whole place could have another fissure opening any time.
