So beautiful place, its like the garden of eden. Albanian are so lucky to be bless with beautiful scenery and ancient infrastructure. Its like the whole berat is a museum itself 😱
what a place to go, it's shameful I was not aware of this place, usually we only talk or search about few famous world destinations like France how narrow minded we are and how big and undiscovered is this world Albania you are beautiful and thanks JetLag for showing this definitely when i plan to go out this could be one the place

You should try liver at Gjirokaster; simple yet delicious traditional food! It seems Albania is almost covid-free, we already booked out flight for July and you helped us deciding!

Berat is indeed picturesqe.It has to be one of the most charming cities in the world. 6 stars for the museum from Steve.It has to be amazing. A 15th century mosque slash synagogue sounds intriguing...too bad we cant see the inside. Note to myself: go to Berat when grapes are in season and stay in that room at that hotel.I will pick my own grapes thank you 😀

I used to live in that castle up to age of 9 till my parents moved to a different neighborhood or area of berat, I've been on top of every wall of that castle lol its so quiet so peaceful and so beautiful

If somebody told you the myth of Osum, Tomorr (the mountain with a bit of snow) and Shpirag (the mountain in front of Tomorr), your experience would have been even more mystic and exciting; I believe!

Steve, you should go to Russia, you can start in Moscow. The city is extremely rich with museums, classic cafes, soviet foods, picturesque parks, incredible kremlins(fortress). Please visit Russia. I lived there for 4 years and it is fantastic
My fellow Malaysian, I'd recommend Bosnia over Albania as it is easier to get around with friendlier people and wide selection of halal and western food respectively. There are also more show-stopping sights there than Albania. Tirana has absolutely nothing to see except the nicer street Steve showed in the earlier video.
@@hendrik5769 I stayed in Tirana (horrid), Berat, (visited Blue Eyes along the way) , Ksamil (nothing compared to Croatia & Greece) to Durres (horrid) via coastal roads so I saw quite a bit of Albania. What I found lacking is stunning, historic architecture except in Berat and Gjirokaster. I have visited 46 countries in Europe so a bit jaded. Visited Bosnia twice and travelled from Croatia to Bihac (beautiful) , Banja Luka (meh) , Jajce (stunning), Sarajevo (so complex in history & evoking emotions) and incomparable Mostar (surrounded by Blagaj, Stolac, Pocitelj & Kravice waterfall). I didn't manage to visit further south like Trebinje and the crayon which I heard are also must see. While I don't generally like middle East and balkan food as they lack gravy (fan of French food & most East Asian cuisine), Bosnian version of burek, vine wrapped rice and grilled meat (incl cevapi) are just superb and cheap. Can you imagine a piece of juicy grilled veal with salad and potato for just Euro 2 ? Most importantly the friendliness of Bosnians stand out among the already quite friendly Balkans.

@@hendrik5769 My advice was for Malaysians to skip Albania in favour of Croatia + Bosnia as getting around in Albania is very hard due to terrible roads and poor public transportation. There are many jaw- dropping, picture perfect places in Croatia (Dubrovnik, Plitvice, Korcula, Hvar) and monumental historic places (Sarajevo and Mostar have a few) in Bosnia that you can't get in Albania which is also more unsafe among the Balkans. South-East Asians are not recommended to fly all the way to a European country mainly for beach holiday because there is hardly any soft sandy beach (mostly pebbles) and even the one with quite soft sand (Cyprus which I also don't recommend) are full of sundecks and people in the sea and nothing to snorkel for. We can get cheaper and quiet beach holiday with snorkelling trip in our own country.
Reminds me so much of Turkey with its cobble stone lanes and hilly region with sloping roads! Also that instrument the guy was playing was like what they play in Turkey and Iran! Also that it's full of history, I found Turkey also full of history whichever direction you looked! I would love to visit Albania with its history, natural beauty, warm, polite people and amazing organic food!!!!
Not sure. They were written in... Latin? (I feel like I should know this?) And there were no translations. But still incredible! My skin got goosebumps when the audio guide told me what I was looking at
@@JetLagWarriors I need to know because the oldest manuscripts are 70-350yrs after Jesus and are in Konaik Greek. Jesus and his deciples spoke Aramaic but we don't have any manuscripts in Aramaic. Also early Greek manuscripts have varying and sometimes contradictory narratives. Some manuscripts record the truth while others falsehood. The Book of Barnabas is one such script that was not canonized by the Church. The eastern Orthodox Europe Churches are very much closer to Islam than those in the west or Italy (western European) because the church leadership willi nilli decided to selectively canonize certain narritives to form a theology like Paul/Saul did. @@JetLagWarriors Butrint like the person said and blue eye(syri kalter) is definitely recommended. Ksamil has some beautiful beaches. Saranda is touristic so the prices are higher than usual, you can also go to the island of Corfu in Greece from there.
I'm loving your videos. I am Albanian myself. I've never been to southern Albania though.looking forward to your videos on the south of the country. himare is also beautiful I hear, as well as Dhermi. Have a great stay!! ) It's a beautiful country with really freindly people.
We Albanians avoid the middays and hot parts of the afternoon unless we really have to. The cities usually come to life at around 6pm when everyone strolls around the streets, cafes and bars to socialise. We call walking around with friend family in the afternoon: Giro.

Oh these stuffed grape leaves are eaten in Turkey and Greece too. You can also eat them in Turkish and Greek restaurants in Toronto.
It can be found here in Malaysia at the Turkish shops too. I have tasted it.

There are many jaw- dropping, picture perfect places in Croatia (Dubrovnik, Plitvice, Korcula, Hvar) and monumental historic places (Sarajevo and Mostar have a few) in Bosnia that you can't get in Albania which is also more unsafe among the Balkans.
South-East Asians are not recommended to fly all the way to a European country mainly for beach holiday because there is hardly any soft sandy beach (mostly pebbles) and even the one with quite soft sand (Cyprus which I also don't recommend) are full of sundecks and people in the sea and nothing to snorkel for. We can get cheaper and quiet beach holiday with snorkelling trip in our own country.

Reminds me so much of Turkey with its cobble stone lanes and hilly region with sloping roads! Also that instrument the guy was playing was like what they play in Turkey and Iran! Also that it's full of history, I found Turkey also full of history whichever direction you looked! I would love to visit Albania with its history, natural beauty, warm, polite people and amazing organic food!!!!

What were the names of the 1st century manuscripts? Codex something?
Not sure. They were written in... Latin? (I feel like I should know this?) And there were no translations. But still incredible! My skin got goosebumps when the audio guide told me what I was looking at
@@JetLagWarriors I need to know because the oldest manuscripts are 70-350yrs after Jesus and are in Konaik Greek. Jesus and his deciples spoke Aramaic but we don't have any manuscripts in Aramaic. Also early Greek manuscripts have varying and sometimes contradictory narratives. Some manuscripts record the truth while others falsehood. The Book of Barnabas is one such script that was not canonized by the Church. The eastern Orthodox Europe Churches are very much closer to Islam than those in the west or Italy (western European) because the church leadership willi nilli decided to selectively canonize certain narritives to form a theology like Paul/Saul did.

@@JetLagWarriors Butrint like the person said and blue eye(syri kalter) is definitely recommended. Ksamil has some beautiful beaches. Saranda is touristic so the prices are higher than usual, you can also go to the island of Corfu in Greece from there.

We Albanians avoid the middays and hot parts of the afternoon unless we really have to. The cities usually come to life at around 6pm when everyone strolls around the streets, cafes and bars to socialise. We call walking around with friend family in the afternoon: Giro.
