    @Faye, Thanks for the discussion. I believe you should make this "Masterclass" a series regular with different subjects such as Macroeconomics, Microeconomics, Political Science, Legal System etc. And also, could you put up links to different resources in the description which we can read to follow up on the discussion? For example, the papers or surveys that the panelists were talking about. Would love to go through them.

    Yesterday's news of Kerala became the first indian state to be digitaly ready for public education validates the same.

    We ain't seen nothing yet... Prof Mehrotra says that very often and it scares the human in me.
    Love the fact that 'ism' is not important or on the agenda. Each have had their own measures of success and failure. What is important is investment in people, health, education, infrastructure.

    So for the lazy students, here is the definition & formula:
    GDP is the (estimated and then aggregated) VALUE of Goods and Services produced in the country.
    GDP = (Consumption + Investment + Government expenditure + eXports - iMports)
    Thanks a lot for this masterclass. I am a computer science professor and researcher, and really wanted to understand this in a simplified manner.

    I know this is an educational conversation but I feel so sad after this discussion. If we really have to make an India we will be proud of, none of us educated people can sleep for more than a couple hours for the next 20 years. That is the only way.
    Also, how many times will we vote a government back into power which doesn't do anything for its people?

    Faye Madam, hats off to you for bringing out the pertinent issues always. However plz ensure that your videos are uploaded properly. I observed that recording quality is poor and at the start of video always some portion is blank - it is irritating and might make viewers to leave without watching fully. Plz take care.

    There are many Indias. The Southern states surely are placed much better than the national average. Some pockets in the north are economically ok viz Punjab, Himachal, Uttarakhand etc. The sinkholes for India are the Bimaru states which are BJP bastions. These are the worst performing states both economically and on HD indices.

  • @ashishsaxena7705

    GDP is fine, But it's GDP per capita that is the real measure of how rich or poor a country is. That's the one area where we are much much behind, may be in bottom 70-80 countries.

    Now here Faye you should and must have a Dalit voice in panel. You cant discuss economy without caste. And btw never think caste as an "angle", but it is the only "mainstream" or truthful analysis.

    Kindly, DO NOT INVITE MOHAN GURUSWAMI IN YOUR PANEL BECAUSE HIS VOICE IS NOT CLEAR AT ALL.
    Whatsoever he talks, I do not really think wheather he himself is able to understand.
    Thousands of experts are available on every subject please invite them but not Mohan Guruswamy.
    I am extremely surprised that how you are able to understand his voice.
