Thanks to your video was able to open and clean, it can be tricky sometimes but that device is pretty straight forward. I just removed the thumbstick didn't touch the mechanism itself, I guess it was just a bit dusty cause it works again just fine!
That's because the guy that created the video failed to identify them correctly. They're not Philips, they're JIS, and Philips screw will have a higher than average likelihood of stripping them.

One of the first two screws to be undone I stripped immediately. Big fail for me haha

Those are NOT Philips screws! They are JIS screws, Philips has a big chance of stripping them!=
