Little known fact: Pilita Corrales had a brief recording stint in Australia and is the first female artist to top the Australian charts with her single "Come closer to me" in 1957. She is also the first Filipino to perform in Las Vegas after being invited by Sammy Davis, Jr.
There's also a street in Australia named after her.
Kindly react ko mona gonzales
😳😳😳😳😳😳😮😮😮😮😮😮😮Thank you! This is a new information
@@maldssteeds437 WoW!
Yes! She's a pioneer of Australian television and topped the Australian chart even way before Olivia-Newton John and the first Filipino to win an international award. She won the 1st Tokyo Music Festival.
Elizabeth is Jaya's mom, Pilita was Jaya's manager when she was just starting. Jaya mentioned Pilita's name during your podcast session with her.
you should find a video of her during her prime .. she is called "THE QUEEN OF ROCK n' ROLL" of the philippines ... she reigned during the elvis presley era !! and she is crazy, she is also known as "THE TINA TURNER OF THE PHILIPPINES" ...
You are referring to Ms Elizabeth R, right?
Yes! It is Elizabeth Ramsey - in all, with kicks of humor in her performances.
I love her.
She played commedy everytime when she had movie or tv commercial in the middle 60's.
PILITA CORRALES IS ASIA'S QUEEN OF SONGS
SHE'S ONE OF THE GREATEST SPANISH SINGING ICONS OF THE PHILIPPINES. SHE SPEAKS PERFECT SPANISH. DURING HER HEYDAY, A STREET IN AUSTRALIA WAS NAMED AFTER HER AND IT STILL EXITS UP TO THIS DAY. ELIZABETH IS ALSO A PHILIPPINE SINGING ICON.
I love this vlogger even small things they always appreciate.love from Philippines ❤️🇵🇭🇵🇭
"Rosas Pandan" is a classic Filipino song usually sang by choirs.. It's actually a famous song, in fact it's sang by foreign choirs. Do check out on youtube.
And it is actually originally sang by Pilita Corrales if I am not mistaken po
Up
Yes very famous song among international choir groups from around the globe.
Yes, it’s also called pasodoble or paso doble here, usually being the accompaniment to Filipino folk dance 💃🏻 🕺🏻
Bisaya is an umbrella of languages (not just dialects because they have very little vocabulary overlap, among other features) from that region -- Cebuano, Waray, Illonggo, etc are examples of Visayan languages. Ms. Pilita is singing in Cebuano, because I speak that particular language. I'm having a hard time hearing Ms. Elizabeth's words, but the ones I could hear also sounded Cebuano.
Yes, she was singing in Cebuano. She is also a Cebuano
I may be wrong but I think Waray-waray and Hiligaynon could not be considered as belonging to the "Bisaya" group of languages since they are way too different in terms of grammar construction and word usage. But if you are referring to proximity inbterms of geography, then yes they will be languages in the Visayas.
Hiligaynon*
Bisaya tongue is the most articulate, definite and precise language when it comes to describing things, persons/gender or events
Bisaya is the general term for people speaking Cebuano inside and outside Cebu.
I don't know the reason but Visayan region is known or has a reputation of producing the best singers in the Philippines.
Surrounded by water. Charot
Morissette is bisaya.
thqat is so true
I dont think so. The Luzon has produced great heroes and great singers in the Philippines and that is fact and not to boost.
Regine is Bisaya
These two vloggers reacts intelligently. Young and smart..
PILITA CORALES is a ASIA'S QUEEN of SONGS and ELIZABETH RAMSEY are both ACTORS,SINGER and COMEDIAN....and they're SINGING VISAYA here in this performance...
Elizabeth Ramsey is also the Queen of Rock n' Roll
The song is Asin's Rosas/Pandan.
Ramsey is Rythm &Blues.
Cebuano Bisaya.
The song called Rosas Pandan and it was in Bisaya. We sang the choral arrangement of that song as we celebrate special event in the church.
They're singing "Rosas Pandan", a Visayan song. A lot of Visayan songs have a folkloric feel to it which reckons back to our Spanish roots and influence.
Pilita is The Asia’s Queen Of Songs. She was the Front Act of the very controversial concert of The Beatles in Manila where they said that they are more famous than Jesus Christ!
My father was 1/4 Spanish and most of his relatives are fair and speaks fluent Spanish. I refused to learn piano and Spanish from Spanish teachers just because they were rude and hypocrites. They would discriminate us because we are dark. On the flip side, we are so thankful that they brought with them Christianity and literally shove it down into our throat and for that we are so blessed and thankful! Viva Kristo Rey!!🙏 Btw, our maniana habit and the siesta time during lunch hour are something we appreciate and still love to do as well. 😂
Yeah, brought christianity by sword 🤣🤣🤣
I feel like crying right now. 2 of most loved Legends in the PH.
WE ALSO CALL IT PASO DOBLE HERE IN THE PHILIPPINES!
SPLENDID! Glad you got hold of this video. These two most wonderful women and world-class musical artists are Philippine legends...our gems. Ms. Pilita Corrales (I believe she's in her early 80s) is still performing, occasionally, in special events, private concerts (still in demand) and popular TV invites. She is Asia's Queen of Songs while Ms. Elizabeth Ramsey was a very popular singer, actress, comedian, and a total performer. Both are world-class performers who've travelled all over and quite famous especially in North American stages/arenas. Ms. Ramsey had regular stints in American bases' clubs in the Philippines during the 60's-80's era. Very famous in her own right, and later introduced her daughter Jaya (Asia's Queen of Soul) to the entertainment world. This beautiful multi-talented artist passed away several years ago but sorely missed and remembered by many Filipino and international fans. Quite a remarkable performance. You should listen/view more about these two great talents. Such joy!
That song usually sang by so many choir all over the world... Classic song Immortalized by PHILIPPINE MADRIGAL SINGERS... 👊😘
Rosas Pandan is a Visayan Folk Song, (from Cebu I think) and has a very naughty lyrics. It’s always sung by different countries either in a competition or exhibition. And that beat that you call Paso Doble is what our Waraynon calls Kuradang.
Elizabeth Ramsey was also a comedian and a movie star during her prime.
I'm happy knowing this kind of video from the PH brings back memories to both of you. Indeed, we got too many similarities it felt like we just got lost in Asia for some reasons XD
Elizabeth and Pilita are pure bisaya. That's why they have good bonding. Zambonga City in Mindanao mostly speaks Spanish.
I'm from Cebu Philippines (Visayas region) where Pilita Corales was born. Spanish culture has greatly influenced Visayan music. ❤️ I love my language and the visayan folk songs. My tìo and tìa sings these songs with Tùba an alcoholic drink from coconut sap 😅
They're singing Rosas Pandan. A lot of foreign choirs also sing this song.
I love Elizabeth Ramsey, shes one of the funniest actress/singer. I love watching her tv guestings and interviews coz shes helarious. 😃😄😁
Pilita Coralles is the one who discovered jaya in the states and encourage jaya to start her singing career in the Philippines. Pilita is the first manager of jaya and a second mother to her. Singing in Visayan (Bisaya). I love how you both immerse in a country’s musical culture-talk about it, discuss it, dissect it. Music is such a wonderful vehicle of getting to know a country or culture. I’ve gotten to learn more about a country’s culture through you guys. More power and blessings to both of you.

Speaking of “nature” like sound replication. Please check out Tengri’s “Heaven”. Mind boggling performance. And for other ‘old school’ or folk loric songs, try listening as well to Sampaguita.
Elisabeth Ramsey was born also in Mandaue, Cebu with filipino mother and black black American father.
This is excellent... they are singing in bisaya and my dad's favorite was Pilita Corrales!!!! Both of them are amazing!!!!

Elizabeth Ramsey,, Pinay Rockstar, Comedian and actress,, same with Pilita Corales is Actress and singer too, love them both
Our most respected, adored, loved actresses and singers Ms Elizabeth Ramsey & Ms Pilita Corrales. ❤
Wow that was fun, thanks for sharing. I often see other international singers and chorales singing this as their competition piece, should check it out. Contributing my two cents here regarding Philippine music, whilst the west had their opera, Filipinos were writing soulful *Kundiman* songs with poetic verses reminiscent of love songs, a prayer to God, or to the motherland because they've longed to be free from the oppression of their conquistadors. This is probably why they sing mostly melancholic ballad songs and I think the earlier songs were in Spanish. Also during this period, to serenade someone you need to sing to them at night with a guitar or a band under their window, this is called *Harana.* One of the popular song called *"Dahil Sa'Yo"* (Because of You) was also sung by Nat King Cole and Julio Iglesias.
Wales & Efra this is the reason why i like both of you so much coz you"re becoming filipino truly you know better regarding elizabeth & pilita they are gems of the entertainment in the philippines luv you guys keep safe
Per google... " Rosas Pandan was originally written by Lopez as the theme for a zarzuela (in Visayan) with a libretto by Piux Kabajar, called “Rosas Pandan.” The zarzuela never saw the light of day, but the song caught the attention of the Manila recording world in 1973."
.."Rosas Pandan, tells the story of a pretty lass from the mountains who charms everyone when she sings and dances during a town festival. This Visayan folk song has been performed by numerous choirs all over the world including choirs from China, Korea, Indonesia, Russia, Singapore and USA."
Elizabeth and pilita are both famous during thier time, elizabeth is a comedian too...if they sang together its so much hilarious yet entertaining....i love this video
Did you notice her dress? It's her trademark she wears gown with high slits showing her beautiful legs.Back in late 70's, early 80's she has her own TV show The Pilita Corrales Show. We use to watch it.Filipinos will forever love her.
Yes, that's Bisayan (VIsayan). As a Bisaya, I enjoyed this way too much. I was smiling all throughout the whole video.
Yes they're a great performer in the whole world both of them PILITA CORALES and Elizabeth Ramsey.. that song that they've sing entitled ROSAS PANDAN, originally sung by PILITA CORALES...
I'm learning so much from you, guys! ¡Muchas gracias!
Elizabeth Ramsey was a singer comedian who are very funny with her own craft. She's a legend.
The song is in Cebuano(dialect of Bisaya). Fun fact: this kind of music is highly folkloric in the Philippines and I believe both in Cebu(cebuano) and in Samar-Leyte(waray-waray) this sound is still popular even with new modern take. Often you’ll hear it in yearly community fiestas. In our province(Samar) this is a staple in every village(barangay) balls. From where I’m from we have “Kuratsa” “Cha-cha” and “Aminudo” as a right of passage to adulthood and to the community. This video is so nostalgic and I appreciate you taking your time reacting to them.
Elizabeth Ramsey is a stand up comedian, a versatile singer, actress and same also with PILITA CORALES, she's an actress, a mother of 2 children, Jackilou Blanco and Ramon Christopher. And both of them singers PILITA and Elizabeth are Cebuanos from Cebu, a cebuano dialects... Filipino so proud of them a very good singers in our Native Land Philippines...
Jaya's Mama. And the one and only Pilita Corales! One word=ICONS!❤❤❤🔥🔥🔥🔥
*Those 2 are legendary, they are big in the Performing industry in the Philippines. they are very entertaining and fun to watch. i'm now 26, my grandma intoduced me to their crafts and now i'm getting older / more mature i'm starting to appreciate it.*
you’ve seen Pilita before. she is one of the judges when KZ had her audition at x factor. with martin, gary v, and jake zyrus. go watch your reaction you’ll see her.
IIRC, the rhythm and melody are common in the folk songs from the Phils. It does feel nostalgic hearing it again.
Wow I didnt know you guys did this.. I always love this video of Elizabeth and Pilita!!
Elizabeth Ramsey singing Proud Mary is the best.
Yeah Pilita is one of those old school singers who had lots of Spanish songs decades ago.
We have a dance called Pasa Doble done usually by the old folks...and danced during special occasions...
