      Man, Jack is a killer guitarist and amazing demo guy. He left a major vacuum Ben is filling it quite well.

    Great playing!! Just picked up the same guitar last week. I am so impressed with the clarity of these p90s! You never get a muddy sound with this bad boy because it always has that clear top end with both pick ups. The balance in sound is impeccable. Still in the honeymoon phase but really loving the craftsmanship of Murphy lab.

    Wonderful guitar. No doubt. These are do-it-all guitars. Well-described on that middle switch position.

    Hey what’s the difference between this Murphy’s lab LP and the regular R6. Are the pickups or any other specs any different?

    • @squealingpigguitars2438
      @squealingpigguitars2438  5 месяцев назад +1

      It’s purely down to the finish. The Murphy labs are finished with a slightly weaker nitro finish which is similar to the original 50s guitar finish, which will age easy along side the aging job being applied to the guitar.

    I think the songs at the end of the video are What a Wonderful World and Can't Help Falling in Love (at first I though it might be Eres Tu 😂). Ben plays really well. I've played Murphy Lab aged guitars, and I think they're great. I love the way they feel, and the Custombucker pickups are probably my favorite humbuckers at the moment. They sound amazing! I also love P90s, and the ones in the demo sound killer.

      I have an all gold Murphy Lab 56 Paul. It’s absolutely amazing all the way around. The action is super low and not a buzz or dead spot anywhere on the neck.

    I have a Murphy light aged ‘64 SG. In hindsight I could have saved a packet by going for a custom shop instead because the ageing, though well done and nothing like the utter crap Fender chuck out of their assembly lines (had a few aged custom shop Fenders too), it looks like a used guitar. My advice is that you save the money and don’t. They don’t sound or play better.

    • @michaelthompson9070
      @michaelthompson9070 7 месяцев назад

      I disagree…I have a couple of Custom Shop VOS and my 59 Murphy Lab feels & sounds better. I have a custom shop 64 SG and it’s definitely a great guitar!

    • @LysanderLH
      @LysanderLH 7 месяцев назад

      @@michaelthompson9070 i think you mean that to you it looks better. Freeze-cracked lacquer doesn’t make a difference, so Custom and Murphy are the same thing.

    • @michaelthompson9070
      @michaelthompson9070 7 месяцев назад

      If I meant that I think it looks better then that’s what I would have said. It feels and sounds amazing. The VOS and ML finishes are different and not just visually (mine has just ultra light aging).
      To be clear, I love all my custom shop guitars…just pointing out that R9 ML is a step above.

    • @LysanderLH
      @LysanderLH 7 месяцев назад

      @@michaelthompson9070 You said it yourself! “The finishes look better”… that is as much of an opinion as saying X sounds better than Y. What you are arguing is that the Murphy cosmetics also make a guitar sound better and that is nonsense of Tonewood and Autotune proportions! ML don’t add higher spec electronics or hardware to CS I chose mine because it played and sounded better than any of the others I had played and that just happened to be an ML.

    • @michaelthompson9070
      @michaelthompson9070 7 месяцев назад

      Of course it’s just an opinion that I prefer the appearance of my ML! I’m the same, btw…the ML just sounded better. From the Tom Murphy interviews, it seems that the nitro is different but I’m not making a blanket statement - I only have my own small sample size. It’s a sum of its parts….especially the wood and pickups but I do think that a thinner finish allows the instrument to resonate more. Just my experience but I’m just a player who’s played Les Pauls for decades….some good, some blah and a few amazing ones.
