I like how he basically says at the end, you will maximise your efforts if you do cardio on an empty stomach and do cardio after your weights due to the glycogen issue BUT just make sure you get the cardio done somehow as that’s most important. So many times trainers have told me it’s the end of the world if you don’t do things this way or that way and it’s been a wasted session etc. I love his positivity.

I don't get the whole anti-cardio movement these days. It's necessary to stay healthy. Sure you can lose weight from diet alone but cardio is gonna keep your heart healthy.
Yeah, I watch a lot of weight training videos and most of the big guys are out of breath just talking about what their training is. If you want to live a long time with a high quality of life, cardio is a must. I do something every day, even if it's just walking my dogs on my off day from the gym.
People are lazy, that's all there is to get. They like hearing that "cardio kills your gains", and it gives them the justification they need to be lazy.
People fear doing cardio because of losing gains, but losing gains doing cardio is usually a direct result of the lack of nutrition needed to sustain that aerobic effort.
What I love about jay is he was smart with his bodybuilding approach, he is one of the few bodybuilders that I’m aware of that hasn’t got any or if so minimal injuries so it’s clear he values his health. Smart guy.
Cardio is important to give literally the most important muscle in ur body, ur heart, what it needs. Just becauee girls can't see ur heart doesn't mean u shouldn't work it out with cardio. Do ur cardio every week people. Ur heart and lungs will thank you for it

My mom convinced to me run on the treadmill and my workouts went from 45minutes to an hour, up to 1hour to 1hour 30minutes. I’m gaining muscle faster now because of that.
That's because your heart, blood vessels, lungs and diaphragm got "jacked up" due to cardio. Cardio is a real endurance booster. When you take deep breaths and that too frequently, it gives a whole new level of satisfaction. My lifts are better after cardio session and I can do more reps and sets with much heavier weights. I don't know why people say the opposite thing
Depends your daily calorie index. To much cardio can break down and affect the synthesis of protein and recovery and hypertrophy and in some scenario you should not run daily, especially if your are gaining muscle and you are close to your fitness weight. That's why most of the runner develop a different kind of hypertrophy to a person that do exercise it in the gym, also runner usually have skinny legs, strong but not at the same level of a person that train in the gym. Running it's the best exercise for cardio.

Used to train so wrong tbh. Always had a terrible time trying to build muscle. i 25, trained on my body for endurance for years. All my gym friends were bigger but carried the exact same weight or even less, did less reps. I just quit out of frustraition. Now realized that I did way to much cardio BEFORE my gym reps.
Since I started doing cardio in addition to bodybuilding, I feel stronger and look better. I think a maximum of 30 minutes 2 to 3 times a week is ok. The stair machine is intensive and also trains the legs and glutes.
I bought into the high intensity cardio fad for a long time. Especially since I have always been an athlete. Stuff like hill sprints, burpees, Prowler, battle rope, etc. But in all honesty, it never did a ton for fat loss and ultimately effects recovery and sleep patterns. Trying to keep up the performance training and lifting was a losing battle. Now I do 20 min of max incline treadmill walking not holding on 3x per week after full body lifting sessions. Other than that I walk outdoors 1-2hrs daily just to be generally active. I feel so much better, I sleep way better, I'm stronger, and way leaner with a much higher BMR and maintenence calorie intake.

Cardio is good for overall health for sure. I would say if your trying to build muscle and also wanna have a good and strong and healthy cardiovascular system you I would recommend low intensity cardio like walking. Doing a lot of running or cycling could potentially affect your recovery. But then again there are people who run a lot and lift weights and have really good physiques naturally. But I would say if your gonna do that, make sure you getting good sleep in and getting a good amount of calories unless your using intense cardio as a tool to lose weight.
Cardio is a key component to intense workouts because if you’re out of breath then you can’t put 100% into your lifts also I’ve seen some people do no cardio at all and just try to lift weights for 2 hours instead….if you’re trying to do your weights and cardio done at the same time then your gains will be massively hindered. Do them both but separately!

It amazes me how many people still do cardio before their weight training. I tried it one time years ago and it zapped my energy for the weights. Now, like Jay, I've got all my cardio equipment at home for fasted cardio first thing in the morning while drinking coffee and playing Call of Duty.
A little bit of high intensity cardio at the end of my lifting sessions has made a significant difference. I look more lean, i feel much better equipped to handle weight and i have more energy overall
Hi Jay - I’m conflicted. I like cardio for mental health and cardiovascular wellness, but it’s a catabolic exercise and it seems like it would offset the anabolic lifting/eating and divert muscle recovery to cardio recovery and you would grow much slower if you grow at all.

I separated my days full body compound lifts only for 1.5hours or cardio for 1.5 hours boxing mma agility ladders jump rope hardcover stuff. I love crawling out the gym but I have to separate my insane cardio from my weight lifting days(train to failure). But you have to do what works best for your body we are all different. I'm 36, 14% body fat at 5'9 just trying to train for longevity.
It's key if you wanna live longer while using gear, tons of people die from cardiovascular disease so 10-15k steps daily and 1 hiit workout weekly i think is key for few years until you did build it up abit

I do a 2.5 mph walk for 30 mins before lifting. It wakes me up after a long day of sitting at a desk.

Cardio is very important for your heart. Your heart is a muscle too. I do 30 minutes 6 days a week I think 5 to 6 times a week is good.

For naturals test levels drop after 45 mins so split it up. Do cardio warm up and train. And stints of cardio separate
