Men's 50m freestyle final at 1992 Olympic : Alexander Popov beat two USA legends of this race : Matt Biondi and Tom Jager. Jager was still the WR holder, though, until 2000.
Yes I agree totally & to ask why the 4x100m relay for men is not in this list still arguably the greatest relay race in olympic history with USA unbeaten in the history of this race in the olympics & world record holders they was almost guaranteed to win & the team even said that they was going to “smash the aussies like banjos” When Ian Thorpe with 25 meters to go on the last leg came back from half a body length to pip gary hall jr on the wall. this race should be in this list 🙄
1988 men's 200m freestyle final. It was supposed to be Matt Biondi vs Michael Gross. But Duncan Armstrong won the gold, Anders Holmertz took silver, Biondi got bronze.
1992 Olympic men's 100m backstroke : Another upset for USA, as Mark Tewksbury of Canada beat two USA favorite : Jeff Rouse, the WR holder and David Berkoff.
1. Men's 100m butterfly final at 1988 Olympic : Anthony Nesti of Suriname upset Matt Biondi by 0.01 sec. It was the biggest upset of the year. 2. Men's 100m backstroke final at 1988 Olympic : Daichi Suzuki upset the favorite David Berkoff
where is the 2000 olympic mens 4x100m freestyle please? australia defeating the americans with Ian Thorpe’s amazing last 50m to pull back a body length lead of gary hall jr to pip him on the wall this needs to be added 👍🏻
the first one in my opinion didn't train enough and swimming in a 13m pool for eight months isn't enough. But I will give him credit for making it to the Olympics (trials I think?)
he's from Equatorial Guinea... he'd never even swam in an olympic sized pool, because they don't have any. They literally can't properly train for the olympics, and he still decided to swim as much as he could to try and make it.
I dont mean to be rude but with that time in the first race I could be in the Olympics. I get that back when he was racing swimming wasn’t great. He didn’t do a streamline. But, Congrats to him on making the olympics!
No Sydney Men's 4 x 100 Free. Someone here is having a joke ... (Also - Perkins in Barcelona and Armstrong in Seoul. Kyle Chalmers in Rio. The Green Machine Medley Relay in Moscow. John Sieben in L.A. - 200 Fly. )

The fact that you have the 2008 relay at #5 is laughable! The importance to history, Lezak's epic comeback and fastest split in history should have put it in 2nd easy. Now you get to dump at least two of the ones on here and add Bobby Finke's epic 800 comeback and Lydia Jacoby's comefrom behind win.
So the "Top 10 Swimming Finishes ever!" have all been in the 2000s bar one? Unlikely. There was Olympic swimming before the internet age eh! More accurate would be "Some Top Olympic Swimming Finishes"
The official Olympic channel doesnt have rights to play audio from the olympic games? Music during clips like these is less entertaining.
I love swimming, these are definitely the best moments. I really liked the 200 Fly for men. Great finish. I am subscribing right now!
Jason Lezak 46.06 sec split still gives me chill
Yess!
2004 Olympic men's 200m freestyle final : Ian Thorpe, PV Hoogenband and Michael Phelps were at the same race.
There are so many races that should be in the list. Who ever is behind these video should do more research.
People will say this regardless of what races are on here. Yawn. Move on.
true this makes me mad
Sam no
but I think they are including only olympic races (and no world champs)
I for one thought all the inclusions were justified except #10
Men's 50m freestyle final at 1992 Olympic :

It's a great list but one would ask if the history of Olympic swimming started in the 2000s.
I was thinking about number 10. Whoa.... Eric Mousambani, the Legend. 😀

Grant Hackett winning the 1500m by body lengths at Sydney 2000? Lapping his competitors? Men’s 4x100m relay in 2000? e.g. smashing guitars?
