I'd like to see a game similar to "The Titans", but instead "The Weenies". Four decks that lost first in a game. Give 'em a shot at redemption
Brandon Fabrizio they do have that I believe it is "revenge week"
They've done that
- Stephen casts Praetor's Counsel -
Stephen - "What's up?"
Justin - "Your hand size."
The funniest thing I've heard in awhile!
At 1:26:00, Villianous Wealth is still on the stack as you resolve each of the spells it exiles. It's not a legal target for All Sun's Dawn. Casting the spells exiled off of Wealth is part of the resolution of the spell. Wealth doesn't hit the graveyard until you finish resolving all the spells exiled off of it.
I'm a little disappointed that Stephen Green was not sacrificing cabal coffers and playing it three times a turn for maximum mana. (Zuran Orb, Crucible of worlds and exploration.)
Joshua Trembath I was hoping he'd see it so bad Dx
As a Gitrog player, I get to play cabal coffers a lot.
he may not have seen that line, but they also play suboptimally to make the games last longer/more interesting
Joshua Trembath oh wow I didn't even notice that's like 30 black mana in a single turn
He also doesn't resolve Villainous Wealth properly
Still waiting for banned commanders:
Rofellos vs Emrakul vs Braids vs Erayo
It would be disappointing if they did banned commanders without griselbanned
Maverick Graham-Vowles tru
Big Grizz would probably be a better call than Emrakul the Uncastable.
Command Beacon ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
That doesn't make the casting cost less than 15
(Jeremy) We are back for Season 7! This time we look back to decks that have done well in Commander VS of seasons past with a new installment of Titans of Commander VS!
Star City Games YAY! glad tour back can't wait until seasons from now when titan of titans inevitably happens out of Titan winners.
Star City Games, Why not do legendary lands for generals? There would have to be a stipulation with when you could play them probably
DUN DUN DUN
Star City Games btw if you ever get tired of someone playing something like burgeoning just remind them of every time it triggers it will start to annoy
If only Stephen Green sacced his tapped coffers to replay an untapped cabal coffers. If only
silver button! I love this so much and I watch every single episode. I'm even going back and watching the older seasons that I wasn't here for. please keep them coming!
I mean I'm #TeamGreen all the way but for a small moment when Stephen was like "I'm gonna crop rotation, I'm going to get a bojuka bog", I felt bad for Justin.
Stephen's in-game hate for Justin is my favorite part of the series.
It is quite artsy
Jon's search timer for the dread cacodemon started too early, he was still asking Stephen if he was going to respond
Oh yeah! Was not expecting season 7 to start and readied myself to watch some older videos again during my lonesome dinner. But Bontu has blessed upon me this day the gift of #CMDRVS, as Justin showed in the intro. May he be blessed and win for #TeamParnell !
Welp, I guess we get only one miracle today. This is why you always ask people to see what's in their graveyard when they cast Praetor's Council.
Great Video!! Loved the theme and the interaction between these decks. Great job guys and GO TEAM GREEN!
#teamgreen ! Best youtube series available... It's like the top gear of magic, the first reason I watch is your for your personalities and interactions, the second reason is magic haha!
Parallel Lives makes Hanweir Garrison spawn four tokens, all of which are tapped and attacking (not two attacking and two not).
Are you guys going to do the one where you take the 2016 Commander decks and add up to $200 worth of cards to it? I want to see that one (especially Yidris and Atraxa)!
(Jeremy) Yep, should be this season!
Make sure Kynaios and Tiros is there!
Please play Atraxa infect. It can be built super easy for $200, I built mine for 100
Amigo Rafita ah I love those guys, because I play with a surprise putrefax
Paul Titze remind me never to play with you
And it's awesome that you guys seem to be having more fun with these.... Or at least the director is having more fun lol
My god you can smell the salt when Parnell got bogged
Not as much as though when Jon milled his last card with electric guitar.
Best part of my morning was waking up and seeing this video! Keep it up guys! Love the show!
14:34 is when the game starts for those of you like me with limited time to watch these great videos
Dun dun dun hell yeah do it again! I love watching you guys play.
Dat bojuka bog play doe. Wow that was awesome.
Stephen WHAT ARE YOU DOING BUDDY? Sac Cabal coffers to Zuran orb, Play it again with crucible and exploration, sac it, make more manias. That was a pretty good combination right there.
I have major respect for director Kyle for making that points graphic!! XD
1:56:48 definitely saved jon. If he didn't do that jon dies. Ergo saved him. There's no other outcome. If justin had been able to get that spell and cast it jon dies. Jon even said stephen saved him and thanked him. If that doesn't count then let justin cast the spell and kill jon.
Most definitely +1 for future Titans of Commander VS matches every other season! These matches are awesome! :D
Discovered that serie after coming back recently to mtg. So good and tremendously fun. Thks for that but because of you I am back in Magic.
you guys should do a meta-game episode where everyone releases their deck list prior to playing then each player has x amount of cards that they get to change based on the others deck list or beef up their weak points based on their opponents deck. seems like the head games would be fun
I did enjoy that "movie" in between seasons! Love it!
Thanks director Kyle, the Member Berries cracked me up!
YAY! Happy to have you back, guys!
Congrats on season 7! I really enjoy watching your gameplay videos...
I'm so happy the season started. Wednesday just got infinitely better
I do really like the titans match, as well as the decks that didn't get a fair shake.
My favorite videos are the repeat decks. I think I like runner ups a bit more but Titans are amazing too
Man, I vote for calling playing with the runner ups "Suarez week".
MestHoop like every deck is a deck Jon got second place with.
Holy crap. Here I am, sorting cards, watching people play magic, and suddenly the video smash cuts to "CROSSFIRE!", scares the crap out of me, and now I'm picking up cards. Thanks for that.
The producer is truly the real MVP of this show. Why couldnt we vote for him
True true
YAAAAAOOOOOO. STEPHEN GREEN COMING THROUGH AS THE PEOPLE'S CHAMP.
Also, honorary point to Jeremy for that SWEET Tasigur deck. Making me consider building my own, I love it every time I see it XD.
My favorite videos are the new commander products and the coliseum of randomness
idk why everyone seems to hate justin so much he's always been my favorite
Made my day to see this was back! Justin gets teamed up on because he can get out of control fast, it's actually great to see him try to come against such opposition.
Also, Jeremy hasn't won a season yet, has he? I'm rooting for him this season to get it.
This was a very good episode. The titans theme is A+ in my mind. I would like to see some non-random partners as well.
Best show on the interweb played on the youtube ;)
also, congratulations on the youtube plaque!
ps: team GOLD!!!!!
1:21:00 Why would you staff to tap for 4 and not staff to untap and exile it?
You would get more triggers off the king and solve the problem (temporarily) rather than just delaying it a turn
Love the show! Wish Jeremy would play the darmia deck for the next titans, Justin milled AGAIN
Yes season 7! Looking good as always. Just one point of attention i want to bring to you guys and that is the search rule. Long searches are tedious i know. But giving only 40 seconds to someone who is looking for 11 cards seems a bit much. Maybe add a rule that a person gets five extra second for each card he searches beyond the first. Like with the ambition you search for 2 cards with the flashback so you'd get 45 second instead of 40. Maybe something to think about.
Stephen Could have not returned Villainous Wealth with All Suns down since at the moment he casts All Suns Down, Wealth is still being resolved as All Suns Down is cast and so is not in the graveyard yet.
The VW hits the graveyard after the choice which exiled cards will be cast has been made. Cant tell you exactly because of what rule, but basically the VW isn't part of the stack like that.
This is also why you are also able to (f.x.) use their E.Witness to get it back etc.
You can use E.Witness, since you don't chose the target when you cast witness, but instead when witness enters the battlefield.
Villainous Wealth says "you may cast" instead of "until end of the turn, you may cast these spells", which means that you have to cast all these spells during resolution of the VW.
Reference on the rule: "608.2k As the final part of an instant or sorcery spell’s resolution, the spell is put into its owner’s graveyard. As the final part of an ability’s resolution, the ability is removed from the stack and ceases to exist."
Please note that it states "as a final part". This means that all rules text of the card should be executed if able before spell goes to the graveyard.
Now back to the casting(CR 601. Casting Spells) All Suns Down:
"601.2c The player announces his or her choice of an appropriate player, object, or zone for each target the spell requires...."
Thank God you guys are back!!! I know it was only like two weeks but it was too long. Can we get a video where Justin's goal is to kill everyone?
I love these Titan games. Also, Justin is out for blood this season. I am looking forward to it :D
Ahahahhaa this is why i love Stephen and Jon the most. In most games poor Jeremy just gets overrun and i'd really love to see him beat everyone senseless. But the SEETHING hatred Justin showed towards Stephen....PRICELESS! THE BOILING ANGER,the masterful restraint of not just jumping across the table to strangle him because he died to MILL again xD
What happened to the amazing intro (sitcom one)? You can let that one just go to waste. It's amazing!
I super enjoyed this episode since my two favourite decks that they have played with they played in this episode! King Maccar and Villainous Wealth deck (I liked both time Jeremy played it)
Congrats Team Green! I think maybe the Versus crew should look into other ways to break ties at the end of the season. HAve a few options like a)Person with the highest general CMC for the season. b)Highest number of 1st place finishes c) Most first blood points gained. etc, etc. Then if you have a tie you roll for which way to break it randomly.
Can we get some Commander Versus Highlight Clips with Stephen tapping that Cultivate as the finale?
MILL THE HELL OUT OF JUSTIN! Also please one of you play a Gisela, Blade of Goldnight deck. It's my first and my favorite and I want to see what you all will do with it
2:03:36 You don't "have" to cast all the spells exiled by Wealth, you can choose not to cast any number of them and leave them in exile.
Parnell should mill Stephen back :P
I like Justin's rendition of "Bands will make her dance" actually rhymes a lot better!!
This guy gets it.
Been too long! Great game and episode! Technically Villainous Wealth is 3/3 counting a non-Tasigur deck that Jeremy piloted to victory off of multiple casts.
Jeremy playing with the dice after he died drove me up a wall.
Hey star city, i have a question... I wish you could play a prototype of EDH when amonkhet set comes out... I wanted to know... where i can send you the info of the deck? :D
YES! Titans! loved the sound effect
@StarcityGames You should alter the tutoring rule for multi-tutors, trying to get 11 cards in 40 seconds seems very difficult to do. Maybe add 5 seconds per additional card tutored with a card? Or is this meant to discourage people from tutoring their deck with one card?
On the second "long search" you started the timer 5 secs before he started searching, so he was in time.
Love Titans and wanna see more. Another idea is "Underdog," commanders that have been used but didn't get to shine. i.e. Jhoira, 2015 commanders, yeah
i loved Justin Parnell getting hated and having his strategy disrupted every turn before he could ever get to do his thing. Please do this for the entire season.
Well, they did it a lot last season.
Do a skyship battle with Skysoveriegn, the Predator, Heart of Kiran, and Skyship Weatherlight!
Literally none of those are creatures, and it would be a very boring match with 4 colorless decks. They would all be the same kind of Artifact Ramp
I wish SCG would do a "giveaway" for a viewer which the prize is to be on an episode of CommanderVS, all expenses paid of course. That would be sweet
Really liked the theme! I would love to see the titans of the titans.
I love all of these commanders. I build too many decks, but I've found time to built all of them but king. Nephilim is dope even on a budget
Love this episode. Titans of Standard, Modern, or Legacy commanders. Commanders only but cool build around idea?
@21:10 Stephen, you were just commenting on how many more lands Justin has than everyone else. And then you destroyed your own land to make a 3/3 Beast to block Dune-Brood Nephilim when you could have just cast Beast Within on Dune-Brood.
614.6. If an event is replaced, it never happens. A modified event occurs instead, which may in turn trigger abilities. [..]
When Hanweir garrison's ability resolves with Doubling Season in play, its effect will simply read
Put four 1/1 red Human creature tokens onto the battlefield tapped and attacking.
Love these videos, glad it's back for S7. and Jeremy once again screws himself over into 4th instead of sacking his guys to kill Stephen he decided deal twelve to Jon when Stephen was at 8 😥.
(Jeremy) Stephen had Zuran Orb out. He could have sacrificed a couple lands to gain enough life that it wouldn't have mattered.
Could you guys get a championship belt or something of the like? I wouldn't mind sending you one, it'd really add to the fun of the show imo
LMAO I died when Justin said ponies before anything else reminded me of my little sister cuz thats something she would do and she's only 6. So i guess this means he is a little girl at heart!
Just noticed that y'all but the commander's initials by the number for commander damage instead of putting the color of playmat. Have y'all ever thought about putting the color initial by the damage? Could see it being confusing.
Star City Games I really dig mill decks. Fun to see one work. Next time Justin hopefully gets to play magic.
at around 1:26:00 I'm fairly certain that Stephen Green would not have been able to target Villainous Wealth with All Suns' Dawn. casting the spells is part of the resolution of Villainous Wealth, so it wouldn't be in the graveyard until after ASD had chosen targets.
I think you right
When Jon played Honor-Worn Shaku I thought it was an altered art card. The art looks like a cartoon. I'm amazed that's original art.
"That was in your deck"
"Yes"
"WHYYYY"
Umbral Mantle gave King Macar +2/+2 everytime Jon untapped him, so he would have survived that Mutilate and was probably able to kill Stephen with commander damage on the next turn.
Love the series !!! Bought the wrexial deck from a while back !!
where can I find Jon's decklist? Macar is awesome.
In the video descriptions
You announce all the targets of the spells from villainous wealth while it's still on the stack, so sadly, Stephen couldn't have gotten it back with all sun's dawn.
Props to Jeremy for an AMAZING deck though
This is not meant to be a comment about play-error; I enjoy these videos and often miss mistakes. It's still entertaining. What this is, is a comment to clear up how I play Villainous Wealth myself:
Is it not the case that you must cast all of the exiled spells you wish to cast at once? That would mean all of the ones you wish to cast must go on the stack immediately, and then people can respond at various points throughout the resolution of the spells on the stack. Right?
Nathar45 Nope, while you do have to cast all of the spells before the stack is considered cleared, they are not all cast upon the wealth's resolution. As long as any effects or spells you cast can be done at instant speed, you can continue to respond to any cards cast, you just have to cast one of the exiled cards first
Justin, you're definitely the winner in my book :)
keep going guys makin these videos greetings from holland
Actually, thanks for that idea, Jeremy, in the intro. Why not have an ep when everyone brings in their own personal deck? rather than have a "have to construct a specific deck" week?
(Jeremy) We did a personal decks episode, I believe it was Season 5, Episode 1? It was where I played my Tasigur deck and won with it.
Star City Games ah. My bad. The thinking continues.
Just need to remember that villainous wealth gets to finish resolving and Steven puts all the spells he's casting off of it on the stack before anyone else gets to put abilities on the stack.
Hadn't seen All Sun's Dawn before. That art is amazing.
It's decent in 2-color and really good even in 3-color decks. 4 and 5 color it's incredible. I should actually pick up a copy for my Kynaios & Tiro deck.
Definitely worth picking up a couple. 2 of my CMDR 2016 decks are still happily vanilla.
Why not Underlings? As in decks that got last place in commander vs videos?
would have been epic if stephen used his extra land drops and Crucible of worlds + zuran orb that he got from the first two times he used that x spell, and on the third try targeted Jonathan or Jeremy after sacrificing and replaying the Cabal Coffers to make X into at least 34ish. That card's crazy good
I still think you should have done some sort of mini game or even a three person commander game to determine the winner of season 6.
I did vote for Stephen, but I would have rather the winner be decided by magic.
All of the tokens made by the attacking Hanweir Garrison trigger would enter the battlefield tapped and attacking. Parallel Lives doubles the number of tokens that are created, it doesn't change anything about them.
30:55 I saw that, Kyle.
Lolz
That was exactly how "Crossfire" was. No one owned it except for one friend.
The points graphic is going to stay the same for the rest of the season, right? After a few seasons plain, the new additions are nice when understanding how you score points.
Welcome back guys!!!!
1:34:00 sac coffers to zuran orb, replay using crucible, VW for 1 million.
Justin and serge, my 2 favorite commander players, both played burgeoning in their first turn.
Serge from lrr btw.
Congrats to the New Peoples Champion and now 3x Champion Steeevvvooooo!!!
