- The girlfriends favorite hobby, especially when the ocean swell is on vacay!
This was a quick 20 minute wakesurf set behind the Cape Horn fully fueled with no additional weight.
Also there is an added risk of surfing behind outboard motors as the prop is a lot closer to the surfer, so if you choose to do it, do it at your own risk!
Enjoy the short clip!
It's not that you can't... It's that you shouldn't!
KAN5AS exactly what i was about to say loll dumbest idea ever
Why you shouldn’t? do you know physic?
@@MihovTV do you know grammar?
@@jimbaldwin1088you have been reported to RUclips authorities for cyber bullying and hate speech.
We started wake surfing behind outboards backnin 1983 no problems at all ..
People saying” it’s so dangerous” you don’t know basic physics, when you are moving at a speed you couldn’t touch that prop even if you tried to jump into it the water will push you and your inertia will be stopped, and you aren’t wakesurfing 2 feet it’s more like 8-10 behind the boat, nobody jumping 8 feet into water moving towards them and going under to touch a prop that is mostly hidden by the lower half too. Not happening
Little do you know. I wake surf in reverse!
I guess if you're really worried you could get a prop guard. It's a cage that goes around the prop. Dont know if they make them that are easily removed though.
See what happens when you fall forward
Well don’t fall towards
Ryan Kelley it is almost impossible to hit the prop when the boat is moving at that speed. You should never worry about hitting the prop
If you fell forward the boat would still be going and you could also easily hit your head falling forward on a surf boat because that landing thing is there
@@jackweisenberger5083 what is the boat breaks down the you go strait in to a motor
@@sixflagsgoose6948 good thing it's not running when it breaks down
Peoples who comments about dangerous, dont know about custom propeler protection ))))))
Nobody ever said it couldn't be done. It's just that it's super dangerous.
why ?
You'll be too close to the prop. Way too easy to fall into the prop.
Well, people are doing it and I haven't been able to find a report of an accident, so it may not be a problem. I wouldn't want to be the first guy to fall into a propeller wake surfing and prove it can happen. I'll wait for a consensus that it's safe personally, but it's possible that it is.
Who says you can’t face plant into the prop?
Definitely not a good idea. Clearly they had conditions on their side and it was penalty well thought out. But still not wise.
If you had a beginner rider, sometimes you build up too much speed and can actually get to the back of the boat. And if they panic if they were close to the back then jump or fall off, the captain needs to be paying attention the same second to drop the throttle to neutral, but even hitting a neutral prop- ouch 🤕
I knew a friend who jumped in the water too close to a neutral prop, just the sharpness of the blade not even running sliced him like an exact knife 🔪 from the ankle all the way up his leg, hip, side of chest. Like a 3ft clean slice. Outboard Props are not something to mess with. It’s not the preferred safe way to Wakesurf even though people will do it, and tell you they’ve been doing for 40 years, doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. There’s much safer ways to surf than an outboard prop.
Everyone’s argument is that you’ll hit the motors when you fall foward, but when surfing behind a wakeboard boat have you ever hit the platform let alone get close enough to hit anything? Nope. Same here
Uhh bro we start and stop using the platform without even slowing the boat. We literally ride the board onto the platform. You’re insane.
you won’t hit the deck the boat is moving when you fall
@@rylandsmith3494news flash when you pump up and down you go faster
Um I can easily do dry start and dry finishes. And begginers do hit the platform
By the time you fall, the boat will already be way ahead of you...
Exactly
Your kidding me ? Have you ever wakesurfed? Irs so easy for beginners to hit the back dock . So instead you be hitting the motor /prop
Braidz brady you would fall into the wave or face plant on the water in front of you, it’s not like you would lunge forward onto the motor.
@@Lee-445 100% you would . so many times trying 360s. pop shove its and ollies ive hit the swim deck on a wakeboat. thats where the motor is on an outboard.
@@Lee-445 i have had at least 3 beginers hitting my swim platform because they dont have control to go backward and forward.
It’s not that u will hit it when falling forward but with a beginner surfer they can lose control and go forward to far and hit the boat and when u have put offs that would be a bad deal
Please Please Please never ride behind that outboard. Way too dangerous
It’s safe you are not even behind the prop, your on the side of the boat it’s fine as long as you know what your doing u will be fine but if u are inexperienced with surfing than yes this is dangerous
A big danger would be an idling/spinning prop when you’re getting on the back of the boat, or hanging out near it.
Surfing behind an outboard is illegal in many (if not all) states.
Is it anymore dangerous than wing-walking or careless shark-diving? Maybe not. LMK ;)
It really does depend on how fast your going though, the driver should be going at the right speed anyways... smh you can really get cut unless you king forward
Nice video. At :56 you can see the 80' Hatteras with blue jet ski on top parked at Villa la mer on the right. Pretty water around Eastern shores and sugar loaf. That's a no wake zone thru that cut though you can start back up after you pass that rock.
monroebuildersllc I am idling through, in the video it is just sped up.
monroebuildersllc thank you for the kind comments on the video btw!
Just get a nautique g23
ikr its pretty simple
