Text - Texte - Testo : Justinus Kerner
    ______________________________________________________
    Du bist vom Schlaf erstanden
    Und wandelst durch die Au.
    Da liegt ob allen Landen
    Der Himmel wunderblau.
    So lang du ohne Sorgen
    Geschlummert schmerzenlos,
    Der Himmel bis zum Morgen
    Viel Tränen niedergoß.
    In stillen Nächten weinet
    Oft mancher aus dem Schmerz,
    Und morgens dann ihr meinet,
    Stets fröhlich sei sein Herz.

He has such an ability to take you in with him, to share with us, he puts so much motion on that musical phrase you stay captivated till the last breath, we will never be able to thank him..

Yes, I see what you mean... Of course we can tell him 'thank you', but it will never be close to what we really feel listening to him... And all this is what makes music so magic... It is a wonderful pain to listen to sad pieces, the music carries us everywhere, everywhere we want, but we are never able to exactly say where... It is inside us, but we feel like we are out of our body...
      Magic, I'm telling you ! : )

Magnifique!J'ai déjà entendu cet air dans "Le maître de musique" avec José Van Damm. Mais je trouve que, chanté par un ténor, c'est encore plus émouvant...

    Silent Tears
    English Translation © Richard Stokes
    From sleep you have risen
    And walk through the meadow.
    Everywhere lies
    Heaven’s wondrous blue.
As long as, free of care, you have
    Been slumbering, free of pain,
    Heaven has, till morning,
    Poured down many tears.
    Often on silent nights
Many a man weeps his grief away,
And in the morning you imagine
    His heart is ever happy.
Translations by Richard Stokes, author of The Book of Lieder (Faber, 2005)

¿ Podrían mejorar el audio ? Es justamente el motivo : escuchar la insuperable voz de Herr Kaufmann. Gracias

It's magnificent, but what word is he singing at the beginning of line 2 in the second stanza of the poem? The text has "Geschlummert," but this does not sound like the word he sings.

Interesting. I have only heard soprani sing this until now--Beverley Sills, Dame Kiri Te Kanawa. Did Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau ever record this?

Sicherlich, es ist nicht einfach dieses Lied zu singen, je höher der Stimmsitz angelegt, umso leichter geht es ! Bravo, Herr Kaufmann !
