When this song dropped it was like a sea change from what we were used to from the Weat. But all I know when those keys used to come in and then the vocals with the HORN! It’s one of those songs that reaches deep and hits some emotion. People now forget how big this song was….how HUGE of a music video “DROP” was. Glad to see another generation giving them their flowers. 💚
One of my favorite HipHop albums of all time. Lyrical animation humor cleverness and production that said fuck the style of the times.
Classic album to the core. Alot of people glossed over their “Plain Rap” album. That was a great album even though Fatlip left.
love the ed edd n eddy intro
Thanks lol figured they fit the vibe
@@DefGoldbloom have you considered making a video about hip hop’s 50th anniversary?
Bro same.
Great content as always & you did justice to one of my favorite hip hop albums of all time so, much respect! Love how you shouted out Project Blowed at the beginning of the video! The Pharcyde were heavily influenced by the Good Life scene, & then after their debut dropped they became influencers of that scene as well as of hip hop in general, ambassadors of the Native Tongues style/content on the west coast along with their contemporaries Freestyle Fellowship and the Nonce. When the Pharcyde heard about the Good Life circa 1991, they started inviting Good Life MC's like Freestyle Fellowship & Ganjah K to their manor after the Good Life open mic ended & they would just jam all night, steel sharpening steel to create new styles & rhymes. They often had jazz drummer Darryl "JMD" Moore sit in on their sessions to add some spontaneity to the beats they would rhyme to. Those sessions became known as the Afterlife sessions. JMD would go on to help with drums on Bizarre Ryde & then assembled a band to play with Freestyle Fellowship on their 2nd album released in 1993. So JMD, the cool jazz uncle of LA Underground hip hop, played a crucial role in helping both groups develop their jazz influenced sound, although he doesn't ever get much credit for it. I'd love for you to do a little video on the Freestyle Fellowship's 1991 debut To Whom It May Concern. That album goes hand in hand with Bizarre Ryde & with Organized Konfusion's self-titled debut as the 3 best & most influential examples of more melodic jazz influenced rap in the early 90s. Anyways, it's all love!
This was the first album I ever bought for myself with my own money. It was 1992, I was 12 years old and it's still one of my top 10 all time favorite albums. I usually have a solid week during the year where I bump this joint non-stop
This Album Is How Real Hip Hop Should Be
Nice acknowledgement of this seminal masterpiece. Salute.

I’m going to regret agreeing to this aren’t I 😂 gotta start writing now for when I hit 20k next year lol
This is one of he best channels on RUclips and you get no views. How do you stay motivated to keep making such good videos?
I just try to make videos that I would want to watch 🤷♂️ the views come and go but as long as I’m able to talk about music that I love then I’m gonna keep making them!
Great vid as always. I listened to the album several times and could never get into it. Guess it's just not for me, but I appreciate a video like this going over what you enjoyed about it.
Fair enough!

2:26 Damn bro, at least put an epilepsy photosensitivity warning up or something
Funny you included clips of "In Living Color" to back your claims of how the album's skits and comedic flair were comparable to sketch comedy shows. I say that because when you had touched on how the group had started off as a dance troupe, I initially thought you were going to point out how they have a dance cameo on "In Living Color" in their early years but you never did.
Later, when you did the sketch comedy comparison and showed clips from the very show I was thinking of, i thought you were going to touch on the fact that at least 3 of them had a dance number on the show but you didn't.
Not trying to play you cheap or anything because im digging your content. I was just amused by what seems to be a coincidence. Thats all.
Dope connection!
Coast contra definitely was influenced by them
Thank you Patton Oswalt for narrating this video!
I like their second album much better but this album is still a classic
