    Great and my friend did this too to his van in about 35 minutes. I have a Chrysler van and it took me only 2 minutes, using ONLY ONE screwdriver (no need for socket or wrenches!). This is a good helpful video, though.

    My main concern here is the gap between the corner piece and main headlight.....kind of a drastic difference from the oem prior to removal. Looking forward to trying this diy on my 01 sienna this weekend.

    Thank you! This old lady had a little trouble getting the old bulb out, but after that it was a piece of cake. The only thing I didn't know is if I needed bulb grease for the prongs, which the auto parts clerk said I should get to help prolong the bulb life. But you didn't mention it, so I didn't buy it.

  • @SamPhappalapa

    The 1aauto price for the full headlight set was the lowest price i found - and i bought it from 1aa since many merchants don't go to the trouble to making videos like this.
    Anyway, my 2001 had a different 10 mm bolt (the one that needed the penetrating oil & the 4mm socket to unscrew in video). I struggled getting the new main lenses in until I realized that moving that bolt upward before inserting was the secret.
    Make sure to insert the outside first, then the inside. It took wiggling to get the above bolt to extend out far enough to tighten it back down on the recessed 10mm nut.

    Just inherited a 99 Sienna that the 94-year-old owner hit a few obstacles and I'm refurbishing. Interior is spic and span and only has 144k miles the side lights are missing the clip to hold the light in place but I think an L bracket and a couple self-tapping screws will preclude buying a NEW Assembly?

    This video helped me, twice! (It was one of the top 3 search result in Google when I learned changing my headlight one year ago for my first time. Now one year later, I reviewed this video again to double check. BTW, is it normal that your same side of headlight bulk got dim and need replacement twice in one year span?)

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  7 лет назад

      We're glad that we could help you out! Though that does sound unusual about the bulb failing that often. Is it possible that you bought a lower quality replacement? Even if you didn't sometimes you just get a bad bulb every once in a while. 1aauto.com?RUclips&CTA%20Comment&ATony 866-403-3393

    • @rayluo4665
      @rayluo4665 7 лет назад +1

      Possibly. I mean they all look the same on their online product description so I tend to choose one from the lower end of the price spectrum. I will probably choose a different supplier if my latest bulb fails again in near future. Thanks again!
      UPDATE one week later: my 2nd replacement bulb dims after just one week! So while I have to buy a new pair bulbs (this time probably pay a little bit more on the price), is there anything I need to check on my Sienna? I did notice some black, sticky sludge built up on the connector. Not sure whether it would cause such short-life bulb issue though.
      UPDATE after the new pair of bulbs arrived: The brand new bulb is also dimmed. Oops. So I switch the 2 headlight bulbs and then see the problem was never on the bulb, it is one cable in one side of connector wears out and is now barely connected. So, before my new connector arrives, now I stick the open wire into the housing and jam them on top of the bulb. It works, for now.

  • @christopherdeere7030
    @christopherdeere7030 6 лет назад

    The passenger side is pretty easy, but I'm having issues with the driver side. The nut is frozen, and I cant get my hand in there to use my 10mm socket. I lost my socket to this monster. I ended up removing my battery and the fuse box to have room to get in there but I cant get the screwl out to pull the assembly out.

    To replace the driver light bulb you have to unscrew the 10mm to the fuse to push aside the fuse box to the left so you can get your hand in and squeeze to unplug the wire/socket to the bulb then remove the rubber shoe housing the socket - i did this by using a broad flat head screw driver to push the shoe forward while pulling from behind with my hand. Then push the metal bulb bracket holder to release the pressure and unhook and walla pull out your old bulb and put in your new bulb then push /clip the metal bracket back in to hold the bulb and then put the rubber shoe back over the bulb socket and plug wire back into socket. ur dun.

    2:46 Didn't you break a white plastic clip which was holding this assembly? It's hard to believe that it was held by one screw. I know I did on rear stop lights assembly, which is supposed to be removed with unscrewing bolts first, then prying in direction from side of car out perpendicularly, using plastic prying tool. If you will remove my comments I'll assume I was right. It will help me to avoid this mistake but not others. Thanks.
