"if sinners be damned at least let them leap to hell over our bodies and if they will perish let them perish with our arms around their knees imploring them to stay. If hell must be filled at least let it be filled in the teeth of our excursions and let know one go there unwarned and unprayed for" - Amen

    This is powerful !
I have been too guilty of just theorizing about the gospel and Calvinism instead of sharing it more.
I must say as an African-American though, if more preachers were color-blind like Spurgeon we wouldn't have the race problem in America. Spurgeon had black people at his college and allowed them to preach over a hundred years before blacks were allowed in Bible colleges in the south.
And Spurgeon sermons were burnt and his life was threatened by Southern so-called Christians because of his staunch stance against slavery.
American preachers have never repented of their racial bigotry that's why we stil have so many problems here in America. I can't turn on Christian radio without hearing something racially condescending both by white and black preachers; I could give numerous examples.
Just like homosexuals need to repent a of being homosexuals preachers need to repent of their racial bigotry. we will never have a great Revival in America unless people repent of their racial hatred in the church.
    center.spurgeon.org/2016/09/22/the-reason-why-america-burned-spurgeons-sermons-and-sought-to-kill-him/
Spurgeon exchanged correspondences with Frederick Douglas, received former slaves into his Pastors’ College and pulpit, and condemned slavery in his sermons and media articles:
“I do from my inmost soul detest slavery . . . and although I commune at the Lord’s table with men of all creeds, yet with a slave-holder I have no fellowship of any sort or kind. Whenever one has called upon me, I have considered it my duty to express my detestation of his wickedness, and I would as soon think of receiving a murderer into my church . . . as a man stealer” (Pike, The Life and Work of Charles Haddon Spurgeon, p. 331).
How did America respond to Spurgeon’s abolition?
Here are a few published comments from different parts of the country:
    Florida: Spurgeon is a “beef-eating, puffed-up, vain, over-righteous pharisaical, English blab-mouth.”
“A Southern Opinion of the Rev. Mr. Spurgeon,” The New York Herald (March 1, 1860).
Virginia: Spurgeon is a “fat, overgrown boy.”
“The Great Over-Rated,” The Daily Dispatch (August 17, 1858).
Louisiana: Spurgeon is a “hell-deserving Englishman.”
“Spurgeon on Slavery,” The Bossier Banner (February 24, 1860).
South Carolina: Spurgeon is a “vulgar young man” with “(soiled) sleek hair, prominent teeth, and a self-satisfied air.”
“Spurgeon and the Lady,” Charleston Courier (June 15, 1858).
    www.nytimes.com/1860/07/09/news/mr-spurgeon-s-sermons-why-they-were-burned-by-virginians.html
Mr. SPURGEON's Lecture, at Exeter Hall, England, on Slavery, shortly after the JOHN BROWN raid, at Harper's Ferry, where old BROWN was martyrized as a saint, and in which Mr. SPURGEON said, "better every white man, woman and child be murdered in the South, and a thousand Unions be dissolved, than human slavery be allowed to exist in peace and quietness in the Southern States of the American Union."
Of course people will accuse me of focusing on Spurgeon and race too much but this is America's sin. I've heard so many preachers just go on and on and on about homosexuality which I'm against too. But to ignore the racial bigotry that still so many Christians have is hypocritical.
I've been all around the country working for Homeland Security going to different churches white black ,Asian, Latino and there are a lot of good Christians who accept you but the ones who have adopted this ultra-conservative mentality are white supremacists at heart. There's no other nice way to say it.
And I am a a Republican. I've voted Republican for decades but I identify with Lincoln, Calvin Coolidge, Teddy Roosevelt, Dwight Eisenhower, and Gerald Ford. These Republican presidents truly advocated great advances for African Americans but the ultra-conservative tone of Goldwater and Ronald Reagan many white evangelicals have adopted, and always seem to expose nothing but negativity towards African-Americans. At least that's been my experience and what I've heard on Christian radio Non-Stop and Christian television.

Spurgeon said, “I do not hesitate to say, that Phariseeism is mixed with Hyper-Calvinism more than with any other sect in the world.”
Spurgeon’s theology could not be fit into a box. Though he called himself a Calvinist, he did not hold with all points of Calvinism. Nor was he regularly Arminian in his Preaching.
Spurgeon said “I am as firm a believer in the doctrines of grace as any man living, and a true Calvinist after the order of John Calvin himself; but if it be thought an evil thing to bid the sinner lay hold of eternal life, I will yet be more evil in this respect, and herein imitate my Lord and his apostles, who, though they taught that salvation is of grace, and grace alone, feared not to speak to men as rational beings and responsible agents… Beloved, cling to the great truth of electing love and divine sovereignty, but let not these bind you in fetters when, in the power of the Holy Ghost, you become fishers of men.” Many ministers and churches today have been thwarted from freely obeying the Great Commission for this very reason.
Spurgeon said, “I love the name Calvin, but always regard him as sitting on one side of the room; and I love the name of Wesley, but I regard him as occupying another side place in the assembly…I am myself persuaded that the points of the Calvinist alone is right upon some points, and the Arminian alone is right upon others.
Spurgeon went on to say, “There is a great deal of truth in the positive side of both systems, and a great deal of error in the negative side of both systems. If I were asked, ‘Why is a man damned?’ I should answer as an Arminian answers, ‘He destroys himself’. I should not dare to lay man’s ruin at the door of Divine sovereignty. On the other hand, if I were asked, ‘Why is a man saved?’ I could only give the Calvinist answer, ‘He is saved through the sovereign grace of God, and not at all of himself.

I believe in reformed theology. Lawson is awesome. I came out of the charismatic movement. I have a deep hunger to learn now and know all the doctrins of the reformers. But it seems their is so much to learn it is overwhelming and frustrating. I wasted so much time listening to and believing the mangled up theology of people like Osteen, Copeland, hagin, hinn, stone , Meyers, ect. Wasted so much time.

I once wondered why am I drawn towards Charles H. Spurgeon preaching style. He studied the language of politeness (The Holy Bible). He didn't taxed GOD's words in order to be agreeable, he was polite to secure GOD's words in order to convert the listener & the reader.
The utmost language of GOD is to be polite & to say; The LORD qualifies us only through Christ's blood, not through this world's rudeness of false peace. Be polite my f r i e n d.

But grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
    John 1:16‭-‬17 KJV
16 And of his fulness have all we received, and grace for grace. For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ.
    Romans 2:4 KJV
4 Or despisest thou the riches of his goodness and forbearance and longsuffering; not knowing that the goodness of God leadeth thee to repentance?
    Romans 11:29 KJV
29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.
