The true definition of an intermittent problem with your car is: A problem that only occurs when you are by yourself, never when your mechanic or the video camera is there to see it. Another Great video! Thanks for the tip.
This makes me wonder if I have a ground issue on my wiper motor. It didn't work when I bought the car and I figured I might as well take a go at rebuilding it since a replacement is so expensive. Now it works, but it will cut off as I am driving until i hit a pot hole, then it comes back on.
I told my boss to disconnect the battery on a car. He said that he had the key off. Which he did. With both hands in the cowl the linkage was bumped. The wipers made a swipe and then parked. He was pinned in and cut pretty bad. I cut the cable on the battery and got him free. Everyone should already know this!
Ouch. Hopefully he'll heal pretty quickly. You make a great point. Thanks for posting this. I've nearly gotten caught a couple of times by wipers. They don't care who they hurt.
You said this problem applies to "fords" in said year range. my 68 mustang wipers do not "park" like described in your video. so this video/problem applies to the mustangs in said year range also? Thanks in advance!
Question sir I've got a 68 mercury Montego and I can't figure out how to get the knob off of the switch, trying to remove the knob to restore the dash and do some painting any help would be greatly appreciated thanks
@@AutoRestoMod it may be the only montego in SC! down here in La here's how it is an old man had a 66 montclair.....and he passed away god bless another dude had a 75 grand marc and he shipped it to his son in Az. and my elementary school bus driver had a 61 starliner......when he passed the family swooped in and by the time I came to buy it they scrapped it for cash!
The '66 Mustang and Falcon used a completely different motor and park system. You can modify the car by putting in a later, more wiring friendly motor from an mid '70s truck (salvage yard). We might do that conversion on Cam's Punisher...IF he ever gets it running again.

Good informative video. I have just encountered this parking issue on my 67 GS 400. Gonna try to troubleshoot the ground. Thanks.
As always, when your trying to show someone a problem with your vehicle, it works flawlessly.
🤦♂️😂🤷♂️
The other day, it woould not play nice. Checked it three times. Thought, "This will make an interesting little video". Do video. WORKS PERFECT!
Autorestomod Manic Mechanic Gasoline Media yep every time
I’m searching for a video on how to remove that wiper motor. Not having good luck. It’s more than removing the 3 bolts. Any help appreciated. Thanks

That is most likely a ground issue too. What are you working on?
I tried it on my 71 ford ltd and it worked
Glad it helped.

The Montego has exactly same setup and looks same as the Torino you were working on, thanks
Would this apply to a 65 mustang?
I wish i lived near you. My 70 mustang is really giving me some issues.

Montego!.........damn....haven't heard that name in a dogs age!......are their any left?
it's a miracle if someone still had a Montego MX!
Have a friend in Columbia, SC that has an MX with a 390 4V in a 4 door. Never seen a Montego with as many options as this thing.

My first car was a Montego (of course I'm 60 so that was a while ago).
i had that issue with the wipers not parking plus not working on low in my 66 stang and it was fixed with a new switch

Don’t use axle grease. Use anti-seize.
Axle grease is conductive and the motor grounds to the chassis through one of the bolts.
