    The U.S. was robbed. I remember seeing it as a kid and of that there is no doubt, however the Soviets were NOT the ones who cheated. They played a terrific game. It was the officials who did the screwing including the FIBA czar, R. William Jones, who came out of the stands to overrule the refs.
    That would be like Adam Silver coming down from the stands to do the same thing in the NBA Finals.

    If he had defended Ivan Edeshko's baseline kick, the Soviets would not have scored a goal. But he let him take it out with total freedom. Big Mistake. Fair result.
