All rules are meant to be broken - or at least have exceptions. If you play Stairway 1) on a double neck 2) all parts simultaneously and 3) with the chops of Lemmo - it's all good. Great episode!
Thank God that Norms rare guitars doesnt acknowledge Wayne's world rules. This episode was a walk down memory lane, especially if you're 60 years old and over. The EDS 1275 brought a new sonic soundscape to rock music, and Lemmo just opened that crypt that it has been sleeping in for decades. In 1971, at 12 years old, I saved up enough paper route money to buy Led Zeppelin IV. (4) my grand father bought me a Ventura black beauty Les paul copy for my 12th birthday. I would sneak into older brothers room and use his record player and listen over and over to the Stairway lead solo. It took me over 2 weeks but I finally coped it. I was the neighborhood guitar wiz kid, and the chicks were mesmerized as soon as I hit the intro of stairway to heaven. Soon I'll be 64 years old, with grand children, and guess what. They sit mesmerized when I play stairway to heaven. Michael and crew. Thanks for sparking up these 51 year old memories. Kinda emotional for this old dinosaur rocker. Its bitter sweet. Btw. I still have my EDS1275 and other Gibson and fender guitars. I just cant part with them. Too much sentimental value. 😊❤ Kurtiss (citizen joe)
Amazing! I had to watch it twice and I’ll watch it again! Michael has unbelievable talent! Just amazing! Thank you for the performance! Ok maybe more than twice!
I saw Led Zepplin in St. Louis MO in 1977. We stayed in East St. Louis because the drinking age was 18 in IL back then. I just happened to be 18 at the time, so were all my friends. We went together as kind of a graduation trip. It was a blast.
Beautiful playing. My mother was music director at 4 churches in my lifetime, she could play Bach, Beethoven, etc. but her favorite song played on guitar was Stairway To Heaven. LOL 😂 Thanks for wonderful memories and a great video all of y’all at Normans Rare Guitars. GOD bless y’all.
Lemmo is single handedly keeping the legends of rock alive and well at Norman's rare. Like no other on the internet he keeps us daily abreast of the scope of rock guitar, it's unlimited boundaries and limitations. Simply put, a genius we can all learn from, his daily lessons are a gift to all of us who aspire to create.
Limo you rode that 18-string dragon!! Your talented my brother that was a beautiful stairway to heaven God will let you in for just that alone with his tie-dye T-shirt on.
Hey Jen..and of course Mr Lemmo I would like to thank you for lifting my spirits after a rough couple days…this video was just what I needed…and it makes me very happy to see Norm doing so well…Thanks again to the whole Crew ..😎😎
I think you can break the golden rule of guitar shops if you play it that well. Great job! Ten years ago I hoped that one day I would own one of these. Still hasn't happened, maybe someday.
I love Brandon's encyclopaedic knowledge of the evolution of these guitars and I'd love to see an extended history of some of the interesting guitars you have , how they began, how they evolved, and (and this is really nerdy) a current day visit to the plot of land where they were made. I know it's weird, but the short history of this double neck was just so immersive that I want more of that. Awesome history lesson.
He did the damn thing! That guitar is so gorgeous. Impeccably done, Michael, wonderfully explained by Brandon and masterfully shot by Jen. Easily one of the best Guitar of the Day videos. I legitimately love watching them. Jimmy Page would be proud.
Lemmo!!! come on, awesome playing and that had to be the best #guitaroftheday yet....and with a song that you should NEVER ever play at a music store but Norm's isn't your average music store is it? no sir....thanks Lemmo and Jen..wow!
Lifeson, Slash, Page all have touted these. But Page defines it even tho he played Stairway on a Fender. Don Felder of course. Lemmo captures the iconic sound we all know. 50 years old now and it sounds as great today check out the 2007 reunion show. Page called it the tv aerial due to its lack of screening
honestly epiphone nailed the wiring well on their models having the extra switch for pickup selection per neck and then the neck selection switch gives some more versatility
7:20 funny you said that cause that's exactly what happened to mine. I own a 1991 with a headstock repair on the 12 string neck. Got a discount and it's a great guitar...
Your original piece before you eased that old nugget, "Taurus" (by Spirit?) was a great example of how an instrument can be all about discovery, rather than a totem bowed to in classic rock graveyard of the obvious. You played the familiar part cleaner than its maestro ever did outside the recording studio. I almost doesn't stay through it. But you stayed clear the noodly, g'doogy-doogy-doogy hits he threw in at MSG, on the 12-string over the "and it makes me wonder " section. Kudos kudos kudos, man! You captured the spirit of the best take of this song. But, damn it, i love that you transcended this instrument's freighted legend, and opened by being yourself. Your coolest stuff tends to work that way. Ramble onward, Mike.
I have a 1275. Keep it tuned to a G4th and play rain song on it twice a year and change the strings for 3 days. They’re the most amazing guitar that you will absolutely never use. Spend half your time tuning it, neither neck sits in a comfortable playing position, little known fact is there’s only 20 frets on them. If you have the means than (by all means) get one. But it will hang on your wall
Just a plug for Norms, i bought a cheap (Starfire) lefty 12 string, gotta say it was incredibly well set up! The guitar is just a joy to play! Of course i need to replace the electronics, but the nut, tuners etc are surprisingly good! One of my best purchases, and being sinestral its bloody hard to find good guitars ! Thanks Norms, you blokes aee the ducks guts!
Lemmo is so talented!!! He let that solo scream and his picking sounded better than the original. If you’re going to break the golden rule, make your version of the song your own. Lemmo did that and then some... Well done, dude!
Was at a vintage and used guitar shop in Louisville Kentucky years ago and saw what I believe was one of these (or one like it) inside a glass display case. I thought to myself “Well, there can’t be too many like that around”. Looked in the next display case and they had the left-handed version. So I bought them both. Not really.
Its not forbidden to be a guitar prince, though!!! THAT WAS FANTASTIC! More importantly (I guess that would make it MOST importantly): How is our dear friend Norm? God bless. And stay strong.
Nicly done. Only read about these.' First concert, LZ, Kezar for Houses.... 'they're changing the weather...." sunny then dark then sunny again for Dazed... told myself 'i gotta go to more concerts.'
Very well done Michael! I can definitely relate to your rendition and I believe that Wayne would agree, beautiful guitar though, I used to have the Epiphone model, also a fine recreation. Great to use in the studio...
Elvis had one of those EBS models, there’s photos of him holding his with a huge smile, so I think he was a fan of the idea. One of those popped up on Reverb recently (for the cost of a new car.)
The second song was the bomb. Yes it's over done, sometimes, but thank you. You played is great and I actually watched the whole video. I usually only watch your Acoustic reviews... Great video.
Sounds fantastic. Being from 1985 i wonder if it has Shaws in it? Not sure if they went in many SG guitars but I'd like to think they put em in that beast.
OMG what was THIS!!!!! Unbelievabucklybile gobsmacking amazing playing! Now I understand why nobody else in the world is allowed to play this song in a guitar shop!
The education on the switches was very helpful. Did not know. Well done Brandon. How does one look at guitars when there is a mini Michael concert on a double neck rockin some Led Zeppelin!
Lemmo hits that solo and the dude in the background just looks and sets down the guitar... I feel you man. I feel like an exception to the "No Stairway" rule has to exist for people with a double neck Gibson who can actually play more than the intro and do it well... In that case, play to the end and start over for all I care... If you have the guitar and can play as good as Page then play some Stairway, man!
I used to drag an Ovation Sambora double to solo gigs in Key West around '98. Shockingly few people would comment on it. Huge case. Sold it and no one noticed. At least I have great pictures 😂. Would have liked to know what pedals were used in demo.
All rules are meant to be broken - or at least have exceptions. If you play Stairway 1) on a double neck 2) all parts simultaneously and 3) with the chops of Lemmo - it's all good. Great episode!
you forgot to add " 4) and you are Lemmo"
J ai une 1275 , j ai le droit de jouer ????

I love how our young people still honor such legendary bands like this. Even after all these years. Nice work Lemmo!!
Nothing to add, other than: that was a pleasure to listen to and watch. Thank you...
Amazing! I had to watch it twice and I’ll watch it again! Michael has unbelievable talent! Just amazing! Thank you for the performance! Ok maybe more than twice!
Guess it’s not forbidden at Norm’s 😎
Lemmo gets a free pass
Denied 😂
Not forbidden in any guitar store if lemmo is gonna play it
Only allowed on that guitar!
There is only one other "Stairway Pass"... and that is held for if Jimmy Page walks into the store.
I saw Led Zepplin in St. Louis MO in 1977. We stayed in East St. Louis because the drinking age was 18 in IL back then. I just happened to be 18 at the time, so were all my friends. We went together as kind of a graduation trip. It was a blast.

Great playing dude...classic... can't get more rock and roll than that... spectacular!
Limo you rode that 18-string dragon!!
Your talented my brother that was a beautiful stairway to heaven God will let you in for just that alone with his tie-dye T-shirt on.
Loved the Mel 9 flute setting...👍
Hey Jen..and of course Mr Lemmo I would like to thank you for lifting my spirits after a rough couple days…this video was just what I needed…and it makes me very happy to see Norm doing so well…Thanks again to the whole Crew ..😎😎
Lemmo on the double-neck definitely gets a pass. Amazing.
Funny, I was thinking earlier today if Lemmo has ever done a gibson double neck and here it is! Absolutely killed it too 💯
I think you can break the golden rule of guitar shops if you play it that well. Great job! Ten years ago I hoped that one day I would own one of these. Still hasn't happened, maybe someday.
that has to be one of your best demo's ever, esp on the 6 side , so clear and just so good sounding, impressive.
I love Brandon's encyclopaedic knowledge of the evolution of these guitars and I'd love to see an extended history of some of the interesting guitars you have , how they began, how they evolved, and (and this is really nerdy) a current day visit to the plot of land where they were made. Was in today bought a LP custom. Great store and great staff.
He did the damn thing! That guitar is so gorgeous. Impeccably done, Michael, wonderfully explained by Brandon and masterfully shot by Jen. Easily one of the best Guitar of the Day videos. I legitimately love watching them. Jimmy Page would be proud.

When I see a double neck I always think of Don Felder.
That classic white beast he plays.
Great video.
honestly epiphone nailed the wiring well on their models having the extra switch for pickup selection per neck and then the neck selection switch gives some more versatility
Great job on "That" song. You got the switching right a feat in itself. You did well Michael.
Such a well played song... Really beautiful!!!
I believe it was Segovia behind the quote at 6:34, he felt that the guitar was the most expressive instrument.
Dang Mick that gave me goose bumps I don’t care how many times you play this that was incredible thanks guys this was a really good one
Great guitar! Great playing! And stairway never gets old!
Standing ovation! Bravo! wow that was hard work just watching
LED ZEP at MSG. 🤩 wow!! I saw the movie dozens of times, but never saw them live 😅🎉
That was amazing.
I love Stairway and if you can play it that well you can break as many rules as you like.
Awesome playing!
Wow that sounded like you added some back up violins and keys!!!!!!!!!!! Im looking at that guitar in amazement.!????
Always a pleasure watching GOTD… the whole staff is entertaining… looks like a fun place to work at.
Fantastic playing but how are people just browsing about while this legend is playing??? Go watch the show folks!
A rock orchestra, indeed. Sublime!
How do those dudes in the background just keep lookin’ around while Lemmo’s pulling this off?! I’d be watchin’ the show if I was there
Probably told not to watch the event.
With that guitar how could you not play STH? And you freakin nailed it BTW
Hell yes I stuck around to hear Stairway!!!🔥🤘🏼👍
The guitar is something else there's something about it guys I'm in love with this guitar
Favorite guitar of the day I've seen in a LONG time, killed it!
I like the way the vid started...we dont like listening to jokes, comments etc. We like to listen to thinks related to guits...just an advice
I think we can all agree that this is one of the greatest demos of all time.....Lemmo is God
I love the history explanations from professor brandon. Thank you for the team work
Totally agree , I love listening and learning through Brandon . His knowledge is amazing . He adds so much to GOTD !
That Zep was totally AMAZING WELL DONE SIR M THE UK.
7:20 funny you said that cause that's exactly what happened to mine. I own a 1991 with a headstock repair on the 12 string neck. Got a discount and it's a great guitar...
08:07 I though inmediatly in Slash making that intro for Knocking On Heavens Door Live in Tokyo 1992. What a sound dude!
Yo Brandon the quote is " the guitar is the orchestra ,in miniature" Andre Segovia
Lemmo just made it ok to play Stairway in guitar stores again. Well done sir!
I love how the dude holding a guitar puts it down after hearing you start playing the solo.
But you stayed clear
the noodly, g'doogy-doogy-doogy hits he threw in at MSG, on the 12-string over the "and it makes me wonder " section.
Kudos kudos kudos, man!
You captured the spirit of the best take of this song.
But, damn it, i love that you transcended this instrument's freighted legend, and opened by being yourself.

Thanks Norms, you blokes aee the ducks guts!
Brandon. Jen, and Lemo pull off a perfect Double. Jeff in LA USA
Out of all y'all dammit Lemo, You Sir sure do it justice... every time!
Michael you are quite the special and amazing guitarist. Your song was beautiful and then you just slay Stairway!!
Lemmo is so talented!!! He let that solo scream and his picking sounded better than the original. If you’re going to break the golden rule, make your version of the song your own. Lemmo did that and then some... Well done, dude!
Awesome history lesson at the start!
That was fun to watch! Takes lots of skill to pull that off.. Well done😉
Don Felder former Eagles member I think has one great sounding guitar thanks for posting this video keep up the fine work and take care.
Felder has a signature double neck in white ala Hotel California.
@@texanfournow that s right thanks for the comment and take care.
Outstanding. I had the Epiphone version. They are a handful in a standing position especially
Love watching Lemo's use of the Looper. Absolutely awesome playing.
Fantastic! Great sounding guitar. And excellent playing Lemmo.
Just bought this exact one from here!!! Can’t wait to get it in!
Was at a vintage and used guitar shop in Louisville Kentucky years ago and saw what I believe was one of these (or one like it) inside a glass display case. I thought to myself “Well, there can’t be too many like that around”. Looked in the next display case and they had the left-handed version. So I bought them both.
Not really.
So sick bro! Love the double neck Stairway skills!
You can hear the resonance from the 12 neck at the start of The Greatest Song Ever. Both necks on, bloody grouse!
Michael, thank you so much!
Beautiful guitar and beautifully played, Mr. Lemmo 👍🏻
Its not forbidden to be a guitar prince, though!!! THAT WAS FANTASTIC! More importantly (I guess that would make it MOST importantly): How is our dear friend Norm? God bless. And stay strong.
Bravissimo...mi hai riportato indietro di tanti anni... grazie...Norman forever
Nicly done. Only read about these.'
First concert, LZ, Kezar for Houses....
'they're changing the weather...." sunny then dark then sunny again for Dazed... told myself 'i gotta go to more concerts.'
Beautifully done Lemmo!
first choise song reminds me slash at uyi world tour, the licks just before knocking on heavens door with a black eds1275
Superb! Well played Michael!
Those that forbid it probably can’t play it. Good job, you’re the best one in your row.
Very well done Michael! I can definitely relate to your rendition and I believe that Wayne would agree, beautiful guitar though, I used to have the Epiphone model, also a fine recreation. Great to use in the studio...
Just beautiful playing and tone.
For a brief moment I thought I saw Michael take the shape of a unicorn, great job Michael...
Elvis had one of those EBS models, there’s photos of him holding his with a huge smile, so I think he was a fan of the idea. One of those popped up on Reverb recently (for the cost of a new car.)

Sounds fantastic. Being from 1985 i wonder if it has Shaws in it? Not sure if they went in many SG guitars but I'd like to think they put em in that beast.
It’s in the owner’s manual for that guitar. It gets pissed when you don’t play StH on it.
Thanks guys, love it!
OMG what was THIS!!!!! Unbelievabucklybile gobsmacking amazing playing! Now I understand why nobody else in the world is allowed to play this song in a guitar shop!
Great playing, wonderful job Lemmo and the team.
Great playing Mike
The education on the switches was very helpful. Did not know. Well done Brandon.
How does one look at guitars when there is a mini Michael concert on a double neck rockin some Led Zeppelin!
Saw the original from a couple years ago, but this one, man. Super cool
Nice version of Stairway! Hell yeah!
Lemmo hits that solo and the dude in the background just looks and sets down the guitar... I feel you man. I feel like an exception to the "No Stairway" rule has to exist for people with a double neck Gibson who can actually play more than the intro and do it well... Great playing Michael
Simply phenomenal! Loved it!
@11:20-11:50, is that beautiful background noise came from that upper neck?
Your original piece reminded me a lot of Alice Coopers "Only Women Bleed." Very nice.
I used to drag an Ovation Sambora double to solo gigs in Key West around '98. Shockingly few people would comment on it. Huge case. Sold it and no one noticed. At least I have great pictures 😂.
Would have liked to know what pedals were used in demo.
❤❤❤good demo nice sound ...la 12 sonne super bien...
Outstanding playing by Lemmo...
Yes Lemmo gets a pass. 2 more songs that should be played on this legendary guitar are The Rain Song & TSRTS. Great episode y'all!! 🤘
