I have been worshipping Loki for 3 years now and recently devoted to him. I havent experienced his big chaotic facette really. My life has always been pretty chaotic for as long as I remember and he has taught me how to strive in chaos rather than just throw me chaos at times. I feel far more confident when i face hard times because i now have tools to deal with tough experience.
Also, as being this "misunderstood" deity, he has an easy time interacting with outcasts. Everyone i know who worship Loki in anyway were struggeling at some point with interpersonal relationships or even buillying and trauma. He is a very comforting deity when it comes to these issues. And believe me when I say he will fight for his followers. The way I experience him is kinda like this big brother who finds it funny to annoy his little sister but would bite back if anyone even tries to hurt her.

That's the same way I feel. Loki shows you there is always another angle to the problems you face, and if you are already pretty chaotic, he helps you sort through the static and noise and focus on the issues at hand. If you understand and respect loki's power, there is rarely an issue. It's only when that is lacking that he decides to teach you a lesson😄

I get the big brother vibe from him too. Extremely protective and he does not like my family for the way they have treated me. Whenever I have to deal with them I can feel him standing behind me in a protective nature. To give me confidence I don't have to deal with them alone. As I was growing up I would notice just constantly spiders near me, and these weren't small spiders either lol. And they'd terrify me and not knowing at the time they were from him I'd kill them. (Apologies Loki, I was young and didn't understand) But at the time I was in foster care and didn't know too much about well anything. But looking back on it now I can see that Loki has always been with me, sending subtle messages and nudges that he was there. I was always bullied, and have so much emotional trauma and baggage, it has felt like I'm drowning sometimes.
And having just become homeless due to rent increases is when I really truly felt Loki pushing to connect. He has been very kind in any connection I have with him recently. He has been showing up in my dreams as of late. My life has always had chaotic events and things happening so I feel Loki is being more supportive and reassuring me through this tough time in my life since connecting with him. Like he always has. I get the feeling he knows I have enough chaos in my life right now, what I need is his support and caring, not his tricks. And he's more than willing to accommodate that for now.

I never considered Loki an antihero, but a parent. Loving and fiercely protective of his followers, especially the outcasts. And later, a more vulnerable side of him: grieving and traumatized, bound by his sons entrails. He feels rage, yes, and can you fault him? But more than that he loves, both his godly and Midgardian children.

@Freki Bodgaedir 🥱🥱🥱🥱 If that were true, Loki would still be justified in feeling that hate: going by the things that were done to him and his family!
Even a fairly vanilla writer, such as Joanne Harris, who has written a series of Norse-based YA novels, perceives Loki's pain!
(Only in my view, she makes him whine too much. Whereas Loki is tough!! That's the trouble with postmoderns: they want everybody to whine... Instead of to take revenge, in the good old Heathen way... 🙂)

A lot of Loki's followers didn't plan to work with Loki, or even Norse gods. They either desperately called for help from anyone at all and got Loki, or Loki just randomly showed up in their lives. Some people have lived with Loki for years before they stopped being atheist :D

I started doing research myself due to being told by mom (she works with Odin & that is my knowledge of Norse Paganism) that she sees Loki around me, that Loki is trying to connect with me.
I had not a big interest until I had lines of spiders showing up & I randomly got real gassy & hiccuping & burping (apparently signs Loki is messing with me but not fun when at my boyfriends house).
Just strange things that can be linked back to the deity Loki
Anyways now I am doing my research before reaching out in return.

Those stories of people feeling a sense of welcoming and “moving on” from things holding them back from Loki are fascinating. I never would have imagined Loki doing something like helping people let go of their past, but when you look at it through the lens of “outcast” or “You’re different and that’s ok” it totally makes sense. Fascinating video. Great job as usual, Jacob!

Loki reached out to me around 7 months ago. I did my research, and since we have so much in common, I embraced them and welcomed them into my life. It's only been 7 months but I already have so much to say about them. They put me through VERY intense waves of shadow work and then basically pushed me to face one of my biggest fears. Once I took that step and started facing it, they left. Or at least they said they did. I know they we're watching me every step of the way, just not intervening.
I was left to deal with my fears alone. I struggled and cried a lot, but then I got over it. He threw me to the wolves and then came back, like saying "see? I knew you could do it". They're loving, but also tough. Naughty, but also serious when they need to be.
Loki appears to me with mostly feminine energy, and ALWAYS disguised as other deities, which i find funny most of the time. Except that one time he appeared before me as the Demon Bael in the middle of the night, making my heart skip a beat or two 😂😂.
It's definitely not easy to work with them, but I know they got me. Loki is family now, and anyone lucky enough to live under their guidance and protection can expect a wild ride, filled with transformation, self- acceptance and chaos. To Loki 🍻

  • @MilnaAlen

Loki is also a many sided, very adaptable god. If he wants to work with you, he will show up as the kind of a god you give an opening for. He will try to show up as himself first, but if you aren't ready to accept him and he really wants to work with you, he can even pretend to be another god.
I think that's a big reason why he has many followers, because he can be different things to different people. He wont step on other gods toes, but whenever there's an unmet need, there's a big chance there's a kind of Loki to fill that. Mentor, catalyst for change, comic relief, Muse, a parent you never had, a lover, a therapist...

I find it odd that you would have to ask Loki to leave you alone. Chaos happens to everyone, it doesn't single you out. I find Loki to be like a patron saint of anyone who feels like an outcast/misfit/freak, and I admire him as someone standing alone against the opinions of the majority. To me there is also a strong element of accepting the results/consequences of ones choices.

I have a few thoughts on the subject of Loki. I will also acknowledge that people will either love it or hate it. But here it is…
Loki is a great deity to work with if you are feeling stagnant…
Think of your life as a river. Your life flows merrily along, for the most part, encountering the occasional hiccup such as having to flow around large rocks (i.e. life’s little frustrations). But sometimes you encounter a damn, whether man made (your own doing) or nature (beavers/outside influence). You find yourself stuck.
Think of Loki as the “breaker of damns.” Without him shining light upon what holds you back, you would fail to evolve.
It’s not as simple as chaos for the fun of it. Chaos, while it can be messy, painful, or even entertaining, does serve a valuable purpose.
    For example…
The tendency of Loki to work with the outsiders and misfits. Usually these individuals carry one thing in common, and that is rejection and trauma. Those are aspects of life that can lead to MAJOR stagnation that stems from fear of the unknown and learned distrust of self. Hence why Loki can be such a rewarding deity for these individuals and they have far more positive associations with Loki than others. Loki is essentially destroying the thing that is causing the chaos and pain and throttling expansion.
There is a reason that Odin and Loki are blood brothers. They are two sides of the same coin. Neither can exist without the other or there would never be growth. The ability of the Norse Gods to evolve and adapt to different times is one of the main reasons (that despite best efforts) the Norse path refuses to die. Even with only bread crumbs of the original mythology, it not only survives, but even continues to thrive.
In short, Loki won’t mess with you for just “sh*** and giggles,” unless you make him angry (but that’s something else entirely). If he is coming into your life and causing mischief, chances are you’re getting too complacent and something is likely holding you back.
Sometimes, I suspect that Odin might go so far as to direct Loki towards people. If your very stagnant or blocked, I believe it would probably hinder Odin from making himself known in your life… Hence Loki, the Breaker of Damns.
    Just my thoughts anyway…

I absolutely agree with you, I was SO stagnant for so long. Then Loki came and with then, a huge 'tower moment" that shook my life and showed me I was always capable of conquering my fears ❤

How did I not notice you did a Loki series the week of my birthday?! Dammit RUclips lol
Anyways, I've been worshipping Loki for a relatively short amount of time (only since last September) but I feel that, despite the chaotic reputation he has, he's moreso helped me get through the disorienting times in my life than he has caused them. Now, this isn't to say he hasn't messed with me before lol, but I feel as if he has given me the tools to embrace chaos as it comes, as opposed to just getting overwhelmed by the disorder, yknow what I mean? He is someone who, in the myths, is a facilitator of change--good or bad. And, as someone who has been resistant to change in the past, he has helped me to better embrace these things as they come, good or bad lol.

    *Long post*
To be honest, Loki chose to watch over me before I even learned about Norse Paganism.
I was born on April Fool's day. I have a laughing tick that I can't control. And have always had this personality of being a prankster and jokester. I always just considered it to be tied into my birthday and embraced that.
My life has been entirely structured in chaos. I've went through things that seemed normal at the time, but I didn't realize until much later were different.
For example, this stray dog walked up to me one time when I was a kid. I loved it. We'd always play together, and I adopted it. But it wouldn't let anyone near me that has ever hurt me before then (or in the future as well). After it attacked someone for verbally abusing me, someone called the pound and we found out that it was actually a wolf this entire time. Once I found this faith, I asked Loki if it was him that sent it, and he told me yes. And that's not even mentioning the snakes that were always wrapping themselves around me loosely, but never biting. Just not wanting to let go. But then I got flashes from every moment in my life that he stepped into.
That talk and those flashes were the wildest experiences that I've ever been in or seen. And what brought me into Norse Paganism with Loki as my patron deity. And why I try to honor him every day somehow, and honor him with my username itself.
The more that I talk and work with him, the more that I understand what he means to do, and how misunderstood he is. Loki is chaos, but he's also a humorous Trickster. He loves to make people laugh. And without chaos to shake things up in your life, things can never change for the better. It takes that push for a positive outcome to show itself and to be truly appreciated.

I love Loki! I didn't always love him. Or even liked him. But without the lessons he brought into my life I would have never overcome and risen again. He can only show you where you are weak. Then you can grow. He's not bad or good he just is.

Loki's helped me through a lot of trauma and pushed me to change. I've had a lot of breakdowns figuring myself out but I'm a lot stronger and happier because of it. The chaos tends to rattle me from being complacent in bad circumstances and helping me to move on. They remind me of a sibling who scares the crap out of you before patting you on the head and asking what you learned.

People are so stubborn and ignorant sometimes. When they see the name. Loki they are dismayed. Loki stands for chaos and imbalance and then rebalance again. In the universe the natural order of things is chaos then rebalance. This is an interesting view in the matter. Great video . It was very interesting.

Loki is my patron, I light candles on his alter everyday and give him offerings at the beginning of every month. The best way I can describe him is a blessing in disguise. Such as when my doctors appointment got cancelled last minute but then I found out my health insurance benefits had expired and if I had gotten that appointment as planned i would have had to pay full price for it. I think that was defiantly Loki at play there.

A lot of people have said similar things, but I didn't find that Loki really introduced a lot of new chaos to my life. Without getting too personal, I went through an event that turned my entire life upside down about a year ago, and Loki marched into my life shortly thereafter. He does throw some pranks my way every so often, but he really taught me how to withstand the chaos I was experiencing; to face all the emotions I was dealing with head on rather than just trying to bury them. A lot of people describe Loki as the bearer of uncomfortable truths, and I definitely feel that in my practice with him.

I have a great respect for Loki and the aspects that he is associated with. I simply can’t reduce Loki, or any god, to such a simplistic view. “Chaos neutral “ is too simple an explanation and is a classification from a made up game based on mythology. The constant comparisons to the Christian Lucifer is insane, we as pagans cannot bring Christian archetypes into this faith. When you become pagan you leave behind those things. Even explaining in detail how Loki isn’t like the Christian devil god is not helping. The two are polar opposites, compare all you like.
These forgotten wisdom about the past we are trying to rebuild, can’t have it exactly how it used to be. Make something new with the gods and spirits from the north. I disagree with the concept that a god or goddess should be avoided or seldom connected with. If it calls to you then that is your path. I’ve experienced a lot of other pagans’ fear and condescending tone about Loki. Accept that the divine is among us and actively telling people to be wary of any aspect of it because of historical context or what others say is not acceptable. These are just my thoughts.
I’ve been following your channel for a while and I enjoy seeing your path evolve and change. I wish you luck living in Germany 🇩🇪

I think so too.. Loki is his own god!!
& "Chaotic Neutral" is just a D&D definition: though I quite like D&D definitions! 🙂👍
But Lucifer.. Well Lucifer was originally a god of enlightenment: and so, I would argue, is Loki!

    • @Robert-gc9gc
      @Robert-gc9gc Год назад

@@oneoflokis The church made Loki into the devil by deception and lies. A conversion tactic to make people believe that’s what it has been the whole time and we were just too unenlightened to see it. All deceptive lies. All summed up into one word, euhemerism. Don’t play into the church’s lies, Loki is a trickster spirit and NOT Lucifer, he is Loki himself. The similarities are not coincidence, it’s by design of the church to use as a coercion tactic. Loki is a trickster spirit, not a god of enlightenment. Unfortunately when misinformation, like this video, becomes available everywhere it can be easy to deceive someone like yourself who really connects on a personal level with any of these things.

I was sort of a blank page when it came to the Old Gods and Norse deities the first time I (seriously) hit it off with them. All of them came to me through a dream. First came Odinn, then came Freyja and finally came Loki (in that same dream were Thor, Heimdall, Freyr and Frigg, too).
Loki swept me off my feet and showed me how gallant, protective and cunning he is.
I dedicate daily offerings in that order: Odinn, Freyja and Loki; if Wednesday is dedication day for Odinn, Friday for Freyja then either Saturday or Thursday or Tuesday are for Loki < you notice the pattern there? He doesn't have a single offering day, it all depends on his "mood".
When I'm invoking him I am aware that things may go haywire, but I also trust in him, I find chaos magic the most powerful and perhaps compatible with my own temperament, and in chaos magic I see Loki.
I firmly feel and believe that if Odinn gave us breath and sentience, Loki gave us blood and passion, and in my core, I am nought if not passionate. I feel with great intensity and when I live through intense emotions it's when I feel alive the most - and there is where Loki lies (for me).
I often scowl at Odinn from the mythos, for all of his wisdom and all-seeing eye he could not/would not see that his own actions and presumptions against Loki led to Ragnarok (if the Eddas are to be fully trusted, after all, they were written by a Christian dude long after all of the lore has passed from daily life into legend).
I think that Loki does heal trauma and helps individuals with their own pain, as he takes it away and makes it possible to observe things more clearly and objectively. I also notice a certain MO for Loki's worshipers - most of them describe the same energy when he's in the room and the same feelings connected with him. The same goes for Odinn, of course, I have never met more people who believe they are so different and "special" and yet exactly the same, I find it hilarious, I - myself being one of those "no-one-like-me" individuals~
So what it all comes down to is - open yourself up for Loki, even if it's just for communication, do one Ritual with him, or offering, devote him a meditation or a whiskey with chocolate and see what happens.
From my own personal experience, the gods are those who chose their own followers, not the other way around, but that's just me and my humble opinion.
    Until the Hall, skal!

I thought I'd share my story, too, after watching this video. Loki more or less tricked me into worshiping him a decade ago, through a friend of mine. At the time, I'd been a Hellenic Polytheist pretty much since childhood (I still kinda go back and forth a bit with that to this day), and was more or less oblivious to his efforts to reach out to me over the years prior. Once I found out the truth, he actually backed off and let me make the decision on my own.
It's been a very weird sort of relationship that I wasn't used to having with any other gods or spirits. While he definitely introduced chaos into my life, it was more in an effort to break bad patterns I had a tendency to fall into, and to try to help me overcome major obstacles. For example, I went from being unemployed and suicidal, failing every job interview, and having absolutely no concept of self-worth, to actually landing jobs, keeping them, and really starting to shine as a person. I stopped holding myself back over fears I wasn't good/smart/talented enough to try new things. All of the things I'd been too afraid to do when I was younger, I started doing.
There are times where worshiping him can be difficult; he's all fun and games when it suits him, but there are lines he doesn't like to cross, and you can be in for a rude awakening if you've done something to disappoint him. A few months ago, I'd made a deal with him in exchange for his help with advancing my career. I struggled to keep up with my end of the bargain due to bad scheduling at work, and while it started out as a legitimate reason, it ended up becoming an excuse to slack off when I could. Loki got fed up and toasted my computer, forcing me to scramble to get things sorted out, and as soon as I made good on my promise to him, my computer magically started working perfectly again, actually even a bit better than before... and my replacement is set to arrive this week. Oh, well, now I've got an even better one coming.
Sometimes he's extremely *present*, almost to the point of being smothering, and other times it feels like he's just vanished and wants nothing to do with me. Other friends of mine who worship him have had the same experiences, so maybe it's a pattern of his own.
Or maybe I just pissed him off with our ongoing prank war. He wins every time, but damn if I don't try.
In my experience, he's the kind of god that will be absolutely pushy when he wants something, and he'll not hesitate to really mess with you every now and then and shake things up a bit, but there's usually a purpose for it. He's a catalyst for change, and oftentimes change is scary and unpleasant, but necessary.

I have similar experiences. I've been falling back into bad habits lately and have been lazy, and shit keeps getting knocked over, broken, or something stupid happens like hitting my head on the cabinet, the washer lid falling on me, a sewing needle embedded in my laundry. It seems mean and hurtful, but I'm the type of person that needs to hit rock bottom before I get my shit together, and that's certainly what he's doing. He knows what I need to have happen for me to get my shit together. But he's also very kind and protective too. And lucky, if he feels like bestowing that upon you. I've had some crazy luck with him. But also bad luck when he gets fed up with my shit ass attitude

Always heard of people that worshiped or have respect to these gods, my life had been a constant fog. I am a military man who never gave much to religion. But I became more interested in all this of recent and didn’t want to give my worship to Loki, due to I didn’t want to appear to only like him for his current popularity, but as I come to study more and see that I now want to be apart of all this strange things have happened that seem to point to him having an a understanding of me and pulling me closer to him. So in a strange way trying to avoid certain gods I learned to accept the bond I share. I feel as tho someone I cannot see has a sense of pride and sense of endearment to me due to what I now do to better myself understanding that I was from a lower place and outcasted. Now I have pride and have even heard a small chuckle from no one it seems when I get into small bits of trouble or test what I’m able to do now as I try to reinvent myself.

I've been a Loki fan long before the Marvel craze and have recently just settled this past few years on the fact he's been one of my main deities. There is just more out there than the major deities , beings in the same Parthenon that deserve our love and devotion just as much as the main more popular ones and I think Loki is just one of those deities, sorta like how Iris in Greek mythology, would be, or Melonie for examples. We give into what fits into our character traits the most and what we need at the time. a lot of people here are saying they're positive experiences, I'm not going to express mine because several people in here have voice several opinions in my personal experience with Loki, he's helped me through many changes. Especially now, as I'm going into middle age. He's helping me weed out the travesty and work my way through life. He's a creative fire, you got to burn a little grass to have a new forest.

For me, my experience with Loki has been a very persistent one, with from a very young age hearing some sort of voice in my head that wasn’t mine guiding me towards chaos and mischief, I have not yet made formal contact with him but as I am still young and have only recently began my journey I have not attempted to yet (although his influence is very present with many things in my life being very chaotic, and when I seek chaos, it often goes my way).

My entire life has been filled with chaos. Long before I even knew what paganism was, my friends and loved ones would tell me that I am the most chaotic person they have met. I always took this as a bad thing. I've always felt like it wasn't fair that I had to deal with more hardships than anyone else I knew at the time. It forced me into isolation and took everything away from me. This honestly is what drove me to paganism. I grew up Christian and I never felt like I belonged. I'm a lesbian, and I also am very gender nonconforming so I was often ridiculed and outcasted by everyone who I surrounded myself with. About a month ago I looked into norse paganism because I wanted to connect with my ancestors and my heritage. I have been very VERY hesitant to contact any gods because I had heard that it's not good for beginners to do that since we obviously know very little and can misinterpret signs and even who we are talking to. However, I'm stubborn as hell. And in a moment where I felt completely alone I called out to Loki and just started talking to him. I never expected anything in return since I am so new to this faith, but boy was I in for a surprise. The next morning I did my daily tarot reading and got a very shocking message. I was told to dive head first into this new faith, and also that there was going to be a painful betrayal coming soon in my life. I was shocked when I saw this but I brushed it off because how bad could it really be right? Not even ten minutes later I got notifications that my mom was liking my girlfriends tik toks. I was panicking because my girlfriend and I did everything we could to make sure no one found out about us or our online presence. I guess we failed to think about how much of a pain in the ass the for you page was. Somehow her tik tok was advertised to my brother, and because he's a snitch he told both of my parents and I was forced to out myself and my girlfriend to them. Throughout this whole situation though I have felt eerily calm and more confidence than I have ever felt in my life. My parents took the news horribly, but I genuinely don't even care. This past week I have spent time researching loki and learning to embrace the chaos. I want to do as much research as I can, but I am positive that eventually I want to make loki my patron god. If he can help me feel this happy and true to myself, I don't care what chaos comes along with it. I finally feel like I have a place where I belong.

Also to add onto my first comment, I have been struggling with my sexual and gender identity for my entire life. It's been something that has truly weighed me down and not allowed me to grow as a person. I believe that loki saw this and knew that he had to do something about it. Seeing as it was one of the things I mentioned when I first reaches out to him. I would have loved to come out to my family on my own terms, but things don't always work out the way that we initially intend it to. If it really was loki that jumpstarted my coming out process, I am thankful. I needed it and I didn't even know it. Even though my relationship with my parents sucks now, I finally feel free from this baggage that I have been carrying my whole life.

In my vision, I performed the invocation ritual to the letter without ever having any previous knowledge of it. Now, I’m convinced the vision came from Loki, and may have been a glimpse of what awaits me in the afterlife, and I’m definitely looking forward to joining my brothers there…

Anytime I give an offering of drink to odin I also give one for loki to honor the oath sworn between them that's mentioned in lokasenna. Some people seem to forget or glance over the fact that although loki is a trickster and had done horrible things to the gods he also helped them or was the one that either gave or helped procure some of their most treasured/ iconic gifts...while with the dwarves Loki also procured Mjolnir, Thor's mighty hammer, Gungnir, Odin's enchanted spear, Draupnir, and a number of other treasures. He even gave sleipnir, one of his children, to odin. He can't be completely irredeemable. This is just my opinion though and haven't had any interaction with him....yet.

Thank you for the video brother. Although I do not follow Loki I think its great that you are bringing more understanding to the community regarding him. I think a lot of people fear Loki out of not understanding him and thinking he is evil. I do not view him as inherently evil nor good, I just view him as a being - and although he is supposed to serve an end or a purpose on Ragnarok, the way I look at it is this, SOMEONE has to fit that role apparently and so he was chosen to fill that role in the end days.
I try not to get in the way of the fatespinners because everything does eventually come to an end. But think of it like this, the end is just the beginning of a new beginning, and since we live in a universe of cycles, that means we will be able to start over and have a new experience. As humans, we get so caught up in the moment of the why and how of things, instead of just sitting back and 'enjoying' the experience.
Self-preservation is a thing that's hard wired into all of us, and self preservation is fine, as long as we don't focus so much on that that we become so lost in trying to preserve ourselves that we forget to enjoy the world that Alfather has given all of us. Stay safe all.

For me Loki came to me when i knew nothing about Norse religions, yea i seen him in marvel but i didnt really care about him i was more into Thor and at the time i was devotely christian so paganism wasnt even on my radar and i was into chris hemsworth more. I recently had an awakening and my spiritual path has changed. I was mainly into the Egyptian deities. So at 1st i only heard negative things about Loki but for some reason he was reaching out but I was ignoring it. I kept seeing him in my minds eye, id go into stores and constantly see his name on action figures (mostly at gamestop), and id get random jump scares of spiders in person and online, see him in dreams. So i eventually looked into people that work with him. As a child i was an outcast, i never fit anywhere, i was always alone and so i found he usually reaches out to people who had it rough growing up. My life has always been chaotic and just alot of hard lessons so he kind of blends into my life pretty well for the most part.

I had no intention of working with the Norse Pantheon let alone Loki until Zeus stormed into my life, then directed me to learn from Odin. I started working with Odin and everything clicked as it has very rarely with just a few special deities for me. I was surprised yet felt totally at home and on the right path.
As I was studying more about Odin and getting into the mythology and culture and history, etc., one night I happened to be listening to an audiobook that mentioned Loki while I was working. Odd things kept happening roughly every time Loki was brought up. I dismissed this for a good few hours and the things (odd noises in an empty room, things falling without being touched, etc) kept building. I never go in for this kinda stuff, but I was beginning to question that conviction as the coincidences and odd events just began to seem too unlikely to be really happening. When I got into my car to drive home that night, I stopped before turning the engine on and said: "Okay Loki, if this is really you, prove it. My break light has been on for a week (for no reason), so you turn it off right now, and I will believe it is you."
Again, this is WAY outta character for me, I would never tempt a deity or expect any such direct and physical answer, but it just felt right in the moment, so I went with it.
I turned on the car, saw the break light was still on and laughed it off, then I backed out of the parking space onto the road, and BAM! The light turned off.
It stayed off the entire drive home (about 20-30 minutes). I parked at home and sat there stunned and confused. I had given my word I would believe him, but I still could not completely accept any of this was happening. Especially since I had never given him any invitation or interest (I was FULLY committed and deeply obsessed with my study of Odin).
The next day, I started my car and the light was back on. It is still on - roughly 6 months later.
I cannot even recount the other events since then without feeling like I am either completely insane or that everyone will think I am lying my ass off, but needless to say Loki is THE MOST DEFINITE AND DISTINCT diveine presence I have EVER encountered, and I have had some pretty big, moving moments of divine connection in my 20ish years on this path. I thought I knew what it was like to feel a diety's presence beside me, but Loki... he challenged and demolished all of my expectations and is STILL hanging around closely.
It is intense stuff, but I am learning to love working with him, and he has already helped me take huge strides in both my personal development/healing as well as my magick/spiritual skills.
P.S. I am not at all into the modern super hero shows. I saw the trailer for some Thor movie ages ago, so I was aware of Loki being a character, and I see pictures and references online fairly often of course, but I literally have never cared and still have zero interest in the movies or whatever.
I have long worked with Runes (Tarot and I never got on, so it became my divination tool of choice, but mainly I used runes in magick or ritual, cuz they just make sense to me), but that was my only connection to anything norse until this past year.
What have I done?! lol It feels like Loki crashed my party when I invited Odin to come hang and then said he was too drunk to drive, so I let him sleep it off on the couch, but now he never leaves! Or if he does it is for a quick errand and then he comes back. He is just my roommate now I guess? xD

I admit that I reached for my smelling salts when you mentioned The Joker and Loki in the same breath. What an extraordinary thing to conclude.
Apart from that, you do present your case well. That's the highest compliment I can pay anyone who has made videos about Loki. But, like every other video I've seen, every instinct within me says that you missed the mark.
I think the problem with Loki is that people take what's said about him too much at face value--and others are positively committed to hating him and labeling him a being of evil. I suspect the truth is far more complicated.
Chaos is a disrupter of stagnation. People dislike that because the stagnation--even if not advantageous to themselves or anyone around them--is known and feels "safe." Without chaos the living wither and die because they stop adapting and growing. Order is necessary--science's discovery of natural law illustrates that. But chaos is just as necessary--in the right doses and at the right time.
I do think it is an oversimplification to simply label Loki as a "chaos deity". The lore at our disposal doesn't even begin to scratch the surface, Loki is resonating with people--and it's not just because Marvel's "Loki" as played by Tom Hiddleston is attractive. There's more to it, probably rooted in a need to break away from the stagnation of the status quo. How many people have felt stuck--especially during the last year? Is it so far fetched to suppose that the sheer number of people who need new possibilities and a sense of hope that they'll be more the cogs in the machine is an unconscious cry for Loki, and other similar deities to take a more active role? I can't dismiss that thought from my mind--and I would urge anyone who reads this to consider the possibility.

My Pagan friends and I were feasting for May Day/Beltane (We are all Norse Pagans but I bring a bit of Celtic influences). We gave offerings to Njord, Freyja, Freyr and a couple other deities. Loki was not one of them.
As we feasted, we took turns getting on top of the table to tell stories, some real, some fake. One of my friends began to tell a tale from Norse mythos about Loki, and it made us all laugh.
We were all standing around when a squirrel was seen staring at us. One of my friends pulled his knife and said "Think I could get that squirrel?"
This guy isnt typically like that. The rest of us were a little confused and told him not to try it. Suddenly the squirrel walked right up about 2 yards away from the friend with the knife, almost taunting him. My friend walked toward it but it ran up a tree, halfway up the trunk, then it ran to the other side. My friend, determined to kill it, tried following it but it kept running around the trunk so that he wouldnt even see it. The rest of us laughed and the knife-weilder gave up.
But then the squirrel ran up to us again. I then proposed an idea: We venerated many gods that day, was this Loki being jealous?
So i poured an offering of sparkling grape juice and prayed to Loki. After the prayer I stepped back, and i'll be damned if the squirrel didnt trot right up and drink every drop before scurrying away up a tree.
We all agree it was Loki. We all felt a presence with that squirrel, and the knife-weilder said he felt called to try and stab it. I believe it was Loki being Loki, Giving us all a bit of mischief and laughter!

I have come to believe that Loki who has no ancient worship or temples, no place names, is just another aspect of Odin. Here me out on this. Odin and Loki are both tricksters gods. They are both powerful shamans, and shapeshifters. Two things we know about Odin are that he doesn't eat, only drinks, and that he has sworn and oath that he won't drink unless Loki is there to drink with him. Many gods in the Indo-European traditions have other gods who are aspects of the main deity, and in Norse Pagan tradition there is the additional concept of the Fylgja. I think that in addition to wolves and ravens, Oden has a god that does the things he doesn't want to be seen doing. Odin stays above the fray and Loki gets his hands dirty and catches all the heat.

As a devotee of Loki, I believe that our times made him necessary. In a fluid society, knowing how to handle and manage chaos is... A survival skill. In old times, things were almost static, socially speaking. Rules were very determined, relationships, too. Nowadays, things change so fast, that a solid structure is no longer possible; chaos entities bring us a onowledge of how to handle so much change, such frenetic world and how to brace this, making the best out of what we have.
This is just my personal analysis, people. Feel free to disagree, but please, be polite!

Loki, the Norse trickster god, is a complex figure with multiple layers of meaning. Esoteric interpretations offer a deeper understanding of his symbolism:
    1. *Transformer and Catalyst*: Loki represents change, transformation, and chaos. He embodies the power of disruption, forcing individuals to confront their limitations and grow.
    2. *Shadow Self*: Loki can be seen as the shadow aspect of the psyche, symbolizing the repressed, hidden, or unwanted parts of ourselves. He reveals the darker aspects of human nature.
    3. *Trickster as Teacher*: Loki's mischief and trickery can be viewed as a teaching tool, exposing the flaws in the gods' and humans' thinking, and encouraging critical thinking and self-reflection.
    4. *Agent of Balance*: Loki's actions often maintain the balance of the cosmos, ensuring that no single force dominates. He represents the necessary counterpoint to the gods' order.
    5. *Symbol of the Unconscious*: Loki's connection to fire, magic, and the underworld links him to the unconscious mind, representing the primal, instinctual forces that lie beneath the surface of human awareness.
    6. *Misunderstood Outcast*: Loki's characterization as a villain might be a superficial interpretation. He can be seen as a misunderstood outcast, rejected by the gods and forced to operate outside their norms.
    7. *Representation of the Divine Feminine*: Some interpretations suggest Loki embodies aspects of the divine feminine, such as receptivity, adaptability, and nurturing qualities, which are often overlooked in patriarchal societies.
    8. *Embodiment of the Cycle of Life and Death*: Loki's role in the events leading to Ragnarök (the Norse apocalypse) can be seen as a symbol of the cyclical nature of life, death, and rebirth.
These esoteric perspectives reveal Loki as a multifaceted, complex figure, inviting us to look beyond his surface-level characterization as a villain or troublemaker. He becomes a rich symbol for personal growth, transformation, and the exploration of the human psyche.

i have a theory. Loki needs to seed some chaos now and then. I've worked with him on and off over the years. He is the agent of Chaos so to speak, and our lives are far to ordered, for life to evolve for life to GROW for real change to happen, there NEEDS to be a little bit of chaos. and when you look deeply into his mythology he's not an anti hero, or a villain, he is a Catalyst for change.

I did a money ritual and asked Loki for help (odd choice, I know) and that week I received $1,500 in the mail, a bonus offer of $500. Oh, and the teacher at work who had been there the longest walked out, AND there was a snowstorm that shut down the town for two days. You get what you ask for, I suppose!

I haven’t actively established a relationship/following with Loki but I’ve noticed that beers I offer to Thor foam up everywhere more often than beers I offer to other gods. I definitely get Loki vibes when that happens.

I personally see chaos as a natural part of balance. Without chaos, there is NO change, without change, there is only stagnation. Stagnation isn't a good thing. Stagnation only leads to pure death and destruction, and NOT the good kind of death and destruction. I know from experience.
Chaos is the very basis of creation. Heck, go back even further, and chaos is the very basis of the universe. When we create, we create a specific thing. This thing cannot hold the entire universe inside it, because the universe is beyond the order we have imposed onto it. Basically, order that we create, is a small thing that splits off the entirety of the universe, it cannot hold everyone and everything in that split off container. Some things will be outside of that order.
Therefore while order can be good for us sometimes, you cannot, i repeat, CANNOT have only order. Without chaos, there is only decay in it's most negative sense. The universe ebbs and flows, the universe isn't static. That is nature. It is fully natural to have chaos. I personally see chaos as our true selves, because our true selves are without limits. If we define order as in, a structure with limits, then that means that chaos is no structure, without limits. We are all limitless, therefore we are all chaos, at our core.
Chaos is boundless, limitless, change, it flows through everything.
This is one thing that Tricksters symbolise to me. Pure, boundless Divine Chaos. The beginning, before thought, before structure, before everything.
It transcends boundaries, it.. just transcends.
Just my musings, i don't class myself as a heathen, pagan, witch, etc.
But, i do love Loki, that is for sure.

So I decided to reach out to Loki. I bought him a jaw bone and candles as well as a picture of him from an artist on etsy. Anyways I was watching tik tok and I got one where the person was saying stop saying Loki is sending you spiders because he doesn't do that. Spiders aren't a symbol of Loki. I was kinda sad hearing that because I have always dreamt of spiders and when I asked Loki if he would be okay with me talking to him I dreamt of a spider again. So I said to myself guess I was wrong but I wish I would have known before I bought him stuff. That night I dreamt of snakes lots of snakes.

I once was arrested and whenever I was in th holding cell I prayed to echidna the wife of typhon. I prayed for her to help me through the jail and legal process. I was released ten months later. And I struck a plea deal with my lawyer and it was ten years if I messed up again and three years probation. The ironic thing is is that the maximum sentence I could have gotten was twenty years so half of twenty is ten and three for three years of probation is the number of heads that her child Cerberus has and the significance of ten and twenty is is that she is half maiden and half snake. That was kinda like that person that offered that devotional candle Loki and then had that snake like wax tail. For those of you who do not know Cerberus and echidna are from Greek mythology. Thanks and bye hail Loki. Hail echidna. Hail Cerberus.

For every good deed he does, there is a "bad" thing to come along with it. I also want to make sure that people understand we have no evidence to suggest he was honored historically. It’s always a gamble working with Loki. There are oral stories where he’s helpful to mortals too. A young man who was gambling with with jotuuns and losing badly Loki shows up without telling anyone who he is and gambles on behalf of the young man to save his life. This story coupled with his relative friendliness with the sea god signals to me he controls luck and misfortune. Maybe that’s just me. It sucks because we ONLY have the Eddas and some oral stories from various Viking controlled areas to tell us about these gods

If you're crazy on Loki (and I was, long, long before a certain Tom Hiddleston 🙂) then there's nothing that will STOP you from worshipping Him!
In a modern era, wouldn't you expect a god of mischief, ambiguity and CHANGE?? 😏
Antiheroes... Well.. I reckon that the owner of this channel plus his followers, should really read the book by a Lokean priest, Playing With Fire, by Dagulf Loptson. (Also available in ebook form. 🙂)
That should answer quite a few of your questions/arguments about Loki. Including whether he was worshipped in rites (Loptson has convincing arguments that he was 🙂); examples of Loki place names (there are a few!) And why he isn't really like Heath Ledger's Joker. 🙂
If Loki was such an "outcast" though- what was he doing, both as blood brother to Odin, and arguably, as Odin's right-hand man??
And WHY were so many of the heitis in the Prose Eddas (pre Christian) for Loki, "friend of this god or that god"?
Christians cast Loki out. They hate Tricksters. Also read Trickster Makes This World, by Lewis Hyde.
I'm a Lokean. Since 2008. And trust me, Loki looks after his own. 🙂 And saves his pranks for fraidycats who don't like him. 😏

We lit candles and started doing prayers to them we first preyed to Odin and then to Loki. During the prayer to Loki the candles were already dripping but near the end of it the snuffed out. When we relit them the wax that dripped actually spelled his name. Ever since I've been his follower and felt calmer in chaos.

Jacob, it seems like you're missing the point people are telling you about Loki. Someone tells you how he got them through a difficult time, you say "he's not necessarily evil." They tell you about how he made his presence very clear, and you talk about how people must be choosing him because they like antiheroes. Someone tells you that he models a loving father and you emphasize how "chaotic neutral" he is.
That's really insulting to anyone who knows or loves Loki. How do you have the gall to tell the people he's helped that he's neutral or "not necessarily evil" on a good-to-evil scale? Loki is like Shiva the Destroyer, he makes room for you to build something out of your life by helping you clear out that which does not serve you. Fire doesn't always destroy, it makes room for increased creation. In every single story he's in, in the Eddas, something that has outlived its usefulness is sacrificed to supply the gods with a peerless treasure. Even with Baldr, his resurrection would have broken the natural cycle of life and death, so Loki prevented it.
People don't choose Loki because they're edgelords and wondering why they don't fit in, he goes seeking people! He's a very, very accessible deity who is extremely proactive in his interactions with incarnated people. It doesn't matter that his worship isn't historical in nature, because he has a major presence in the modern day, I would say rivaled only by the Morrigan as far as number of devotees and the amount of personal contact with the deity involved.
Any time you're even implying that Loki is analogous to the Christian devil it's a red flag, and based on this video, I'm glad I didn't watch the other video of yours with that premise, regardless of whatever conclusion you came to. You need to do a lot more listening about Loki from people who practice with him, and a lot less venting your fears about him on video, based on the misgivings of people who haven't interacted with him.

    • @TheWisdomOfOdin
      @TheWisdomOfOdin  3 года назад +1

If you had watched the other Loki video you would have seen Loki has a very inconsistent view from the community. There is no one universal way to look at him. I did a poll that I show in that video with 1400 votes. And only a handful work with him on a personal basis. Everyone else stays away from him, or think he’s not to be trusted. And I have had many comments telling me the opposite of what you are telling me. In fact some have been down right nasty I would be so positive towards Loki!
Now I expected that of course, so the reason I say that is because I try to make videos for everyone. Providing the information I can do others can draw their own conclusion. I cannot say 100% yes everyone should honor Loki, but I also can’t say no one should follow him.
He tends to help certain people yes. Which is why I shared their stories here. But he also appears to be a very modern addition to personal practice from what we can tell. Therefor I provided why I believe the modern pagan world does so.
There is no one right way to do things in this faith, nor is their one universal way to talk about a deity. To assume either is what is causing problems in our faith today.

    • @sccello
      @sccello 3 года назад +1

@@TheWisdomOfOdin I can't believe I had this whole reply written out and it got deleted. I guess himself would rather I were brief about this.
Suffice to say, it's not what is causing problems in our faith today to acknowledge that Loki is a god and that gods are not evil. Most of those with problems with Loki tend to be reconstructionists who can't see past the Eddas to recognize a living, developing aspect of the faith - and if you're promoting a modern paganism, then perhaps you should recognize that too. I think one reason your poll showed so few Lokians is that we tend to be solitary because we do enough fighting for our place as pagans - who wants to fight other pagans for the validity of our practice? If you want to be inclusive, this is a thing that will come up.
I'm glad you're considering getting to know Loki better, if only for YOU to know, regardless of what you put on the channel. Feel free to reach out if you want a Loki-related sounding board or advice.

Loki came screaming at me. Not literally but he wove a pretty amazing web that pulled me in. He's been there since and apparently forever according to him but I was not aware it was him.
The thing is I'm not going to jump on a bandwagon here and claim I know all his intentions in all cases. It would be just as unfair to dismiss negative experiences as it would positive. I don't like painting romanticized images like that. It's really a personal journey. I know Loki apologized to me for pushing too hard too fast in the beginning which led to an initial break down. In my experience he is intense and makes mistakes sometimes. Sometimes his humor is dark and people don't like it. And sometimes he's just an asshole. Sometimes he's withdrawn and quiet and sometime a hyper ball of fun. Basically he's not some perfect mythological thing. I love all that because he is real and not this glamourized image of a savior.
So yes some have likely had bad experiences with him. I've certainly had rough moments and had fights with him. I have also grown in strength and security immensely over time with him as my advisor across various responsibilities and tasks. Some of my responsibilities are quite serious in nature and I need a no nonsense advisor that pushes me to be strong in the hardest of circumstances.
