The rusty skies and slender towers were one of the most impactful images I have from Mass Effect 1. So creepy. I still wonder if that was the only Thorian on that planet.
the Prothean Ai and Jarvik both say most of the worlds with what we thought were ruins of their empire were infact reclaimed cities of the race that came before them it is even hinted at that some may date back to the first races that lived before the cycles began as we know the reapers have missed things from the past ones like relics hell even the last of an entire race
The Ruins remind me of Heroic Brutalism, a building style i have become fond of recently. I love brutalist buildings that are also long old runs. Looks soo cool!
Harvest the cities for raw materials, feed them into something that will break them down into their constituent elements, use that material to build new stuff. Once the old ruins are stripped down to the planets surface maybe introduce water ice from in system or somehow terraform it. A habitable planet is too rare a thing to just throw away. You would have to kill the psychic plant though.
Maybe it's the lighting. Killzone 1 came out in the era when games' art design teams were convinced that "realistic = brown", and Feros is almost completely made of earth-tones: pressed concrete and dust clouds from the same, with the odd smatter of rusted metal. The architecture probably has a fair bit to do with it, too: one of the other comments mentioned an architectural style called 'Brutalism', and that shows up a lot in futuristic settings from the past 20-30 years. Straight edges, harsh but clean geometric angles, sturdy-looking support structures - Killzone's bombed-out cityscapes had plenty of that style, and Feros certainly has a lot of it too.
I love how they've captured the atmospheric mood of an old & mysterious planet but saying that I can't wait to leave the minute you touch down here, bioware may we have a mass effect style city builder game just asking for a friend 🥸great video as always
im hoping we get to explore more of the worlds from the first game in the next mass effect maybe even go deeper into the history of the universe of the game and see things we could not in the older ones due to engine limits and im also hoping for a bit more open worlds so we can explore them in detail at our own pace
Thanks Rick another brilliant video your video's are very interesting and informative, I love your mass effect video's because its my favourite games Thanks again 😀
Great video please can you do a video on the Timelords from doctor who again thank you so much please keep up your amazing work by faith and live long and prosper
For some reason its really funny to me how you keep saying that the citadel is of prothean origin. I get why you do it but at this point that secret is probably as obvious as who is the new shadow broker 😁
Thing is, the Reapers don't remove *all* evidence, just enough to make it plausible that the Mass Relays and the Citadel came from an older society, but not enough that it was obvious there was a billion-year cycle of extinction going on.
"It's a bit of a fixer upper."
Loved the eerie music on Feros. Great bit of old school RPG goodness.
Feros was probably my least favorite planet to walk around on in Mass Effect, but probably one of the most effective thematically.

You already kill the planet. After Saren it no longer negotiations with non-thralls.
Question is... was that one the only example of the species or are there more of them on Feros
This planet, specifically that bridge crossing section. Gives me killzone 1 vibes

Hey, Roman concrete is around 2 millennia later! …. might not be in another 48 though :p
I've heard that before. Has anyone figured out how they made it yet?
I think it's weird that the colony is on top of the crumbling ancient towers.
I just did this planet yesterday, I mean yesternight.

I still 💙 Ric! Even though I don't know anything or care about Mass Effect.😂💯✌🏻🖖🏻

Thank you so much to bringing Mass Effect universe into your channel, such a masterpiece of work
Love your mass effect videos, it is another one of my favorite universes. I'd love to see more.
Well i would love to speak over Ferros but you should better speak to Faidan.

This is a good plot hole in ME. If the Reapers removed evidence of prior civilizations, why so much left on this one?

Great video man! I was wondering if you plan on doing a cultural index for the Sheliak corporate?
Ha at Stewie Ruin.
First haha 😄
