    I had to give this applause when I tried it and heard the result. The vocal is not so different, same loudness but waaaay up front. I did this using pro C 2 although I will definitely be trying it with the rcomp

    Out of all the videos I watched this is somehting barely ANY engineers mention..hmmmm makes you wonder is this what one of their big secrets is when mixing vocals? I think so. Very well taught tho bro thank you 🙏

    • @5piece
      @5piece  2 года назад +1

      You’re right- I haven’t seen too many others speak on it, and funny enough, one of my viewers requested it. If they didn’t, I don’t know if I ever would’ve thought to make a video about this myself!
      Sometimes when you know things, you forget what it’s like to NOT know 😅 thank you for watching and commenting!!! 🙏🏼

    Hello! I have found recently and can say you are one of the best mixing RUclipsr!
    Hope you will grow and also want say you use too much of red colour.. it seems a bit aggressive

    • @5piece
      @5piece  3 года назад +1

      Thank you for the kind words. Red is one of my fav colors and also a part of my brand.
      I totally hear you on the aggressive nature of the color - but it’s also a color of passion, which is what I am.
      Not to mention it certainly makes my thumbnails stand out amongst the noise of competing videos 😉 I appreciate you bearing through my design choices! Maybe in the future it’ll change but for now this is where I’m at. All the best

    Great video 🔥🔥🔥 5piece is there any reason why I'm recording in a mono source and my vocals sound wider then my then my 2 track beat? Is there a setting wrong in my daw are interface?
    I'm using a Apollo twin duo mkii with a aston spirit microphone going into pro tools 12.(my lead vocal don't sound center)

    • @5piece
      @5piece  3 года назад +1

      Hard to say from behind a keyboard. Could be a number of things, but usually it’s the most obvious stuff that we overlook.
      Are you recording to a mono track in Pro Tools?
      Is your Apollo console running simultaneously with Pro Tools? This is a separate app. I find when you record with the Apollo, you have to mute your track in the Apollo console and it’ll get rid of the duplicate. This shouldn’t impact or prevent the signal from going into PT (in my experience)
      May be worth hiring an expert to troubleshoot with you for an hour or 2 to determine the problem. Avid may also provide some support but this could be bigger than a Pro Tools issue.
      Wish I could help more. Best of luck!

      @@5piece yes im using a mono track. I listen to your mixes vocals are center. Mines always seem wider for some reason

    I'm new to mastering, so I'm curious. How much does RUclips's audio compression effect the playback here? If it's substantial, it makes gaining an ear for these effects via tutorials on RUclips that much more challenging.

    • @5piece
      @5piece  Год назад

      It definitely affects it. Hard to say exactly how much but normalization is certainly a factor here. I can guarantee the master outside of RUclips sounds louder and more dynamic than what you’re hearing in this video. The notes and approach obviously still applies, but unfortunately it’s tough to get around RUclips’s compression (and all services’ compression ie Spotify, Apple Music, etc). It’s all a part of life now

    hello bro pleas i very coffuced whitch compresson i use 1rst la2a or r compressor or r vox and the 2nd compressor what is the job of 2nd compressor i mean for reduce more gain ruduction or for recup volume of vocals thenk you

    • @GeorgeLocke
      @GeorgeLocke 5 месяцев назад

      LA2A is an opto- compressor: slow and transparent. The technique here is to use that second. You use a fast compressor first to control sudden loud noises (transients), because those loud bits can cause the LA2A to compress too much and recover slowly. Putting the fast compressor first you get a steady dynamic range that still feels natural.

  • @MegaDoubl

    We’re these compressors put on a parallel send or was this directly placed on the vocal track?

    • @5piece
      @5piece  2 года назад

      Placed directly in this case although I do use parallel compression in this video: ruclips.net/video/UhMRA3RryvY/видео.html

    Should you use serial compression on every instrument in mix?

  • @kjwends
    @kjwends Год назад

    how is your first compressor catching the peaks if your atack is that slow?

    • @5piece
      @5piece  Год назад +1

      Pay attention to the GR, you’ll see it working. Slow attack = more transparent sound. Particularly happens on the loudest / early peaks. If you want or need to have it clamp down harder, simply speed the attack up 🤙🏼

    I kinda do a knock off version of this where I use a compressor followed by a limiter

    • @5piece
      @5piece  2 года назад +1

      Yup! That absolutely works. I do it all the time as well. In fact I will even do compressor > limiter > limiter. Sometimes even 3 limiters all working gently. Keep up the good work!!!
