I saw them on this tour in a stadium. They had a green laser Godzilla climbing up the different levels of the place. It was unlike anything we'd seen up to that point.
The lyrics are a tongue-in-cheek tribute to the popular movie monster of the same name. The single release had a picture sleeve featuring a promotional still from the movie Godzilla vs. the Sea Monster. Despite failing to chart, the song received significant airplay on rock radio stations and became a sleeper hit.
That sure was fun. This is one of my favorite songs by them. And it definitely has so much fun with it but the real message is there all along and they choose to do the outro by just repeating the essence of the message over and over and over again. But of course they're rocking out the whole time, laugh.
Thanks man ..my buddy and I still talk about BOC just how good they where live ..laser show was incredible..still remember to this day.. fantastic concert..
Another great song by the amazing Blue Oyster Cult! That entire Specters album is fire, do Nosferatu from it, another perfect tune for Halloween, bring on the Vampire! Enjoy. 🎵🎸🎤🎸🎹🎶
I'm in my 70s & grew up with low budget films (like BOC did) from Japan like Godzilla & Rodan. In seemed like Japan was always attacked by some monster caused by the atomic bombs that ended WWII. They were extremely crude by today's CGI standards, but we loved them. A common scene was people in raised trains or buses being looked in by the monster. I love this song, BOC obviously saw the same movies often shown in Drive Ins on giant screens.
Then you remember Ultraman. Always fighting Godzilla. Good times. After school tv. Maybe it was on UHF channel 20 here around D.C. I always think of Ultraman when I hear this lol.
Eric Bloom speaks some Japanese in the middle of the song, which translates to something like "Attention, emergency news! Godzilla is going toward the Ginza area! Find shelter please!"
Oh no! There goes Tokyo!I saw them do this live twice. Once in Duluth Minnisota and also in Reno,Nevada. Ya know,I dont care for the patreon bit. It makes those of us who cant afford to pay to get our songs reacted to feel like we only count in the algorythm.
We were fortunate to see them perform at the black and blue concert in 1980. Imagine there sound system combined with Black Sabbath and Molly Hatchet. 😁 Black Sabbath was last and finishing up when a monsoon with 70 to 80 mph winds blew in. It blew one of the walls speakers over and destroyed the Sound Stage. We pulled our tarps out and cover it up while everyone was stampeding for cover. Sabbath I barely exited the stage when Ozzy was screaming on the PA system hang on to your ticket stubs will come back and do it for free. The concert was already over and they came back and gave us another Weeks Later. Curiously That whole tour was trouble for them everywhere they went. Too good songs that never get attention are The Last Days of May Black Blade 🤠🏞️🐂
I'm really glad you're enjoying some BOC! I've got to repeat my suggestion, though, that you should do yourself a favor and check out a live performance of "Astronomy" or "Veteran of the Psychic Wars"; those are much more instrumentally complex and really sound amazing.
Godzilla ~does~ actually have a theme music. It's awesome, it's epic, and you should listen to it sometime aside from your channel. This BOC song sounds nothing like it but who cares, this song has always rocked.🤘
Love boc and godzilla so it's a win win so you do classic rock music how about a classic sounding rock song called thrill by bandmaid mv please it will take you to a new place among classic rock songs
I love both but have listened to Specters over the years a bit more. Every album in the 70s into the mid 80s is fire. 🔥 Also, remember Nosferatu for Halloween tomorrow, a perfect tune for the festivities! Enjoy. 🎸
"ROOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!" - Godzilla
🦖

the first guitar mini solo, incredible!

I think this is the first time I have listened to this with headphones. YEEEEOOOOOO!!!
That sure was fun. This is one of my favorite songs by them. I believe you'd like Cities on flame with Rock and Roll. Similar to this 👍

When the Classic Japanese Lizard Monster meets up with a Monster Classic Rock Band....
One ran out of things to step on, the other ran out of things to sing on....just sayin'.
Saw them perform this live in concert…spectacular show!!

Always loved this one. Fun as heck, but they sneak in a meaningful message at the end.
Eric Bloom speaks some Japanese in the middle of the song, which translates to something like "Attention, emergency news! Godzilla is going toward the Ginza area! Find shelter please!"
Saw them do this live in 78, drum solo while wearing Godzilla head.
Such a great jam based on the old Godzilla movies. Godzilla was big in Japan as the Tokyo referenced in the lyrics.
This is always a fun song to listen to. You still need to hear "Burnin' For You".
Um, this line: "History shows again and again, How nature points out the folly of men...Godzilla!" Love the channel JMBOY!
*Points up (i thought it was points out cuz that makes sense, but its actually points up)
For future reference.....always do the mighty B.O.C.......Live! "Veteran of the Psychic wars" live. As good as it gets!!
Try BOC's "The Marshall Plan." I don't think anyone else has reacted to it and it's a great song.
What a fantastic guitarist so underrated!
Oh no! There goes Tokyo!I saw them do this live twice. Once in Duluth Minnisota and also in Reno,Nevada.

Thats a diamond in time song. So hitting bro. Timeless then and now.Just a cool song.
Yeah like I said the other day specters is a great album and Revolution by night is awesome as well all songs on both these albums are phenomenal🎵🎸
LOVE this song! Great reaction.
Blue Oyster Cult sampling way before anybody else!
The members of the band including the band manager Sandy Pearlman are big monster movies fans so they put this song together in tribute to the movie.
Golden Age of Leather to me is by far the best song on this album. It has very cool transitions.❤
I'll raise my beer to that!!!
My favorite Blue Oyster Cult song!

One of your upcoming reactions should be "Veteran of the Psychic Wars".
Bro, ya Gotta do "Black Blade" as well.... GODZILLA King of the Monsters. All of BOC`s music has a sinister vibe...
Great reaction Brother! ☮️
❤❤❤😊😊..awesome..
This song inspired a special line dance in some clubs while a laughed.
Please do the live version of VETERAN OF THE PSYCHIC WARS from 1981. Blue Oyster Cult at their finest.

Love boc and godzilla so it's a win win so you do classic rock music how about a classic sounding rock song called thrill by bandmaid mv please it will take you to a new place among classic rock songs
More cowbell!
Spectres is a better album than Agents of Fortune.
I love both but have listened to Specters over the years a bit more. Every album in the 70s into the mid 80s is fire. 🔥 Also, remember Nosferatu for Halloween tomorrow, a perfect tune for the festivities! Enjoy. 🎸
Godzilla is the baddest mofo low down around this town.
