My great aunt billy converted her hen house when she got old into a cat house. She turned each hen box into a cat bed. She lived in the country and there were lots of feral cats around. Only two or three became house cats but all the others had a safe dry place to sleep. In winter she kept it warm with a small potbelly stove. Many would come on her porch but few would come inside.
Thank you. As I would be sitting with them in it I needed it to be lovely for me. After all the lights and the decorations are of no interest to them, those are for me. They just want places to climb, jump, have fun with and sleep both in the sun and dry.

Y'know, when you're sick and spend all day on RUclips? I started out watching how to use my gua sha I just bought, and well, here I am, watching a video about a catio, and actually thinking my cats need one so they don't get bopped on the street.
I once visited the ruined remains of Babylon and its Hanging Gardens in Iraq. It's hard to picture even with a very rich imagination that that place of rather unassuming size and potential would've been all that magnificent in its heyday. Many historical places from thousands of years ago appeared opulent to their contemporaries, who described them in glowing terms, but they would probably look ho-hum to us.
I have seven cats and built a large catio after spending years searching for catio videos on RUclips. I have many saved for inspiration but this one is by far the coolest thing I have seen in 8 years! Bravo!

Hi cat lady here, I love it . I have 23 rescue babies some with special needs but I'm taking in two more babies 5 weeks old mum's not looking after them in my out door cattery area . I want to do what you've done to my house cattery it joins my house garage and granny flat up cats can go in and out of the places we use them to . No cat goes out in the street . But what you have done is exactly what want to do . I spend more time out with them than my lounge room. The cats use it more than me . I'm English but have lived in Australia for 55 years now . Great for people, but I think he has too many lights. I've seen videos filmed in night vision mode to see what their cats are up to at night & it seems that they are more active & like it better than the daytime also sleeping less, they are nocturnal after all... I think this joint is beautifully perfect! He can always put in a desk with a poll set out with some pens in order to get the cat's opinions😂❤!!!

I had a 15x2m catio similar to this one, but far larger and more wild (was basically a piece of garden turned into catio). Took me 3 months to build. And he loved running from one side to the other but he quickly realized there's not much else to do inside. So I decided to fence half of my garden just for my cat, which is some 20x30m with 5 tall trees and lots of bushes where he often catches a mice or some other rodent. He is really content ever since and it's easier to do than build a catio. You just use normal fence and add cat proof extension on top or rollers. They can't jump over it. Nice work though. It's a piece of art.
I've shared with with my friend as he has his own catio but he's worried it looks too much like a bare bones prison. He's put catfriendly flowers in planters but he was wondering what to do to make it more attractive for both him, any visitors (like me) and of course the most important people; the cats. Yours just looks like an extension of your home, just another room at a glance, it's fabulous! And it looks like the cats love it, very good job!

Looks great Philip, though I'm sure the cats don't quite understand your obsession with aesthetics 😺.. I wish I could add the fake foliage and all those lights to my catio, but here in tropical Australia everything becomes home to tiny messy spiders and their webs very quickly. We also have Asian Gecko infestations (attracted by the moths that are attracted by the light) which while provide hunting opportunities to the cats, are also messy. Obviously I can't use pesticides or poison traps.

I getting too old to have more than one. Of course my cat Sophie, is more the aloof type. Not the case with the ones in the past, who I played with all the time, and they liked sleeping next to me or on me. The cutest little buggers!
Thank you for giving your cats an enclosed outdoor space instead of allowing them to roam around on their own! So many people just have NO idea how dangerous it is to let cats have unrestricted outdoor time, and it's always so sad. People think they're being good owners by giving their cat freedom, but in reality they're putting the cat's life in danger, as well as harming the ecosystem, because domestic cats absolutely decimate the biodiversity of wildlife. I love to see creative and innovative ways to still allow outdoor activities for cats, that's also responsible! 😻💕
Are you near London then!? Those Parrakeets (I think thats the green bird) Only currently exist near London and Kent but are spreading quite quickly! We don't have them at all yet up here in the Midlands. Love your cat content! Looking forward to the full Catio story video.

Wow! So lovely,...I wish I could live in your cat paradise. Great use of of solar lighting. What a fun place to get away to and possibly cuddle with your cats. I'm down to just one cat, these days. I getting too old to have more than one. Of course my cat Sophie, is more the aloof type. Not the case with the ones in the past, who I played with all the time, and they liked sleeping next to me or on me. The cutest little buggers!

So many people just have NO idea how dangerous it is to let cats have unrestricted outdoor time, and it's always so sad.
People think they're being good owners by giving their cat freedom, but in reality they're putting the cat's life in danger, as well as harming the ecosystem, because domestic cats absolutely decimate the biodiversity of wildlife. I love to see creative and innovative ways to still allow outdoor activities for cats, that's also responsible! 😻💕

Are you near London then!? Those Parrakeets (I think thats the green bird) Only currently exist near London and Kent but are spreading quite quickly! We don't have them at all yet up here in the Midlands.
