RIP to the 1 guy who got laid off from ReviewTechUSA
I wonder when his new startup "BBWB" will open? "Birds With Big Breasts". 😂😂
It was a good percentage of that studio
The RTU joke. Lol!
I came from his channel. Loved ur work there dude. Glad to see u continue.
There will never be a second Iwata again in the gaming industrie!! R.I.P Iwata.
@user-in8qh3zf9d Maybe similar in spirit to Iwata, but never identical.
@user-in8qh3zf9d Down right ashamed, and I wouldn't blame him. There was some shady stuff back in the 90s and 2000s, but compared to the nonsense companies do now, it's pretty forgivable. I wouldn't be surprised if Iwata saw this coming before he passed away.
Agreed ❤
Rich is gonna get triggered 😂
Rich tomorrow: I'm triggered lets get into it 😂
Articulate, eloquent, funny and engaging. This is exactly what I want in the RUclipsrs I watch. Thank you Jaysus. 🙏
The RTUSA joke was gold, Jay. Well done.
You said you've visited video game studios in your area, and you have your connections.. Do you think there is a possibility that you could make a video--or, hell, even a short documentary--on getting an inside look, interviewing some of the people working there? Like the "Uncle Gubsy" video, but you know--for real.
I think it would make for a fun video.
That’s definitely an interesting idea but they’ve locked the doors to a lot of it lately and while I can say I’ve been inside. I also sign NDA’s nonstop. I can’t disclose anything unfortunately. I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe…
329 members in what 1 - 2 weeks? Rich F*cked up!!!!!
Dude is just starting too..he hasn't even dipped his toes in the water just yet. No wonder why rich had to talk bad about him behind his back
Rich is garbage
He serves it though- also i unsub. Cuzz i wont make another switch 2 rumor - he made x100 videos about more and more rumors
Unsubscribed to both RTU and RTU Streams, I could deal with the flip flopping, but I can't deal with the hypocrisy of firing a guy without his 2 weeks when you keep criticizing companies for layoffs, and then calling your former employee a parasite, commenting about something you don't know.
Rich went on Jay's stream, Jay lied that Rich had paid him all he was owed to try and calm the backlash, Rich pretended to apologize, and then went on his personal facebook page to diss the guy who just lied to protect him.
For a guy who always said that people shouldn't trust content creators because they don't know them personally, Rich sure did set an example on how people can be scumbags behind the cameras
Lmao, this is the comedy we need 🤣. Reviewtechusa laid off 1 person edit 😭
I was working in the video game industry until the end of 2022, when half the company I was working with was laid off after the crypto crash left like a good ¾ of their clients broke and the projects I was on cancelled.
I got, like, 200 games in my backlog on Steam.
I don't think I could ever play them all unless I actually retire.
711 on my wishlist
Great video! This whole generation has been strange.
Spot on about Microsoft's messaging with Xbox.
it makes no sense.
It makes perfect sense.
@@mostmost1Nope it doesn't
i'm 3 minutes into the video and can already tell the writing quality has gone up a notch!! great job!!
tapered off a bit near the end...
It’s sad how much money the companies make and they still find a way to lay off people.
profit
@@mr.electronx9036this, revenue is not the same as profit.
Like rtu
I would watch you discuss any tech, music, or film discussion for hours.
Here from RTU to support RTC. You got my sub with the 🔔, Jay. Looking forward to your content.
Much appreciated
I was not ready for, nor was I expecting the RTU joke. LMAO!
It’s what happened haha
@@Jayhooft It was very well played, great comedic timing.
You were my favorite part of RT especially when you took over for a bit. Instant sub from me.
Dude, this comment means a lot to me thank you
I think I'm at the point in my life where I'm done buying new consoles at 53 years old . The good thing about scalpers buying up all the PS5 consoles during the pandemic was I couldn't buy one . Now, there's plenty of them on store shelves and I'm just not interested . Maybe when GTA 6 comes out in 2026 .
Good point
The events of 2020-2022 really screwed up everything. Yes, gaming was already going downhill before but the pandemic kinda put a bandaid on things. For almost 2 years people were stuck at home with nothing to do except gaming in their free time. Fast forward to today and people are back to having to go to work and having little to no free time. Wages haven’t caught up with inflation so people are also poorer than they were. It’s been the perfect storm for apathy from your average gamer and I’m right there with them.
Yeah! These are cut backs from the Covid times
On top of that, there's the Sweet Baby Inc sort of shenanigans filling games with sociopolitical nonsense. Like so many entertainment companies, they seem to hate their customers. That never works out well.
You're killing it, Jay. Awesome video!
Your intro Jay 😂 I love it
great job
Love you Jay, you're the best there was, the best there is, and the best there ever will be!
JAY! Damn I love your videos… you give almost an aura about how you talk about games and such, it’s like you are genuinely interested in what you are talking about I love it! You deserve way more subs! 60k subs? On board to 100k keep it up my friend!
Thank you man!!!
Jay is a man, with long hair and Lucious locks
I love the format jay. Seems you are in your element. Much love !
ReviewTechusa and their hubris will cause the downfall of the industry. Then everyone wonders why no one wants to work anymore. I think ReviewTechusa's CEO wants everyone to eat cereal out his ass for dinner. So out of touch. smh.
Hahahahahah
This is for street corner pharmaceuticals. 🙂
Man! What the hell! Thank you hahahaha
A beautiful man. But ya, the good, easy times are coming to an end in the video game biz and we're finally starting to see the effect of that. There was so much easy money floating around for a while there, it wasn't natural. Things are basically going back to a more normal state
i think we will see a crash in the AAA Scene
donwgraded to BBB games lol
@@mr.electronx9036 Lol.
Can't wait for the stream tomorrow - thoroughly enjoyed watching your previous ones. There's just something about you and your presentation that's very captivating
You go Jay!
Thank you for reviewing games and the industry as a whole. Good to see you again
Thank you for watching
On point. I also have a huge backlog easily over 500 games across PC, PS4 (haven’t even tried to get a PS5 yet) and Switch. This might sound silly but I get overwhelmed by it and just go back to some shit like Doom or Warcraft. Anyway, great video dude.
Yeah I also get overwhelmed dude
This new ReviewTechUSA channel is pretty good
I'll check it out
Long time viewer on the other channel, I love what you bring. Classy, funny, without all the stupid drama BS which I am so tired of.
If the gaming industry is going downhill it just gives all us more time for our backlogs.
My backlog is so ridiculous, and I feel bad for not getting around to them because I keep feeling this odd obligation to play Call of Duty: MWIII. I miss when I could hop out of the series to play something else without feeling like I’m missing something.
Love the video and yes all the studios are worried about DEI/ESG more than making quality games. Destroying the industry one franchise at a time.
@@deejrdee1 you put it very well.
Great video! Very good info here. I’m concerned with the decisions these companies are making, so we shall see what the future holds. I’ve only purchased a few games the past few months since my backlog is huge. With how expensive games are, I prefer to wait for sales or buy used. Also, I loved the RTU joke lol. Keep up the great work!
The pace at which games release has turned me into a patient gamer. Unless it's something like Helldivers 2, I simply don't buy games day one or even month one (year one, even). I can wait, save money, and receive more content and a more complete product.
Great video. Always thought you were way more entertaining than Rich from the few videos you put out. Never understood why you didn't do more, but glad to see you starting them up again.
More to come!
ESG money vs genuine market interest
The paycut Iwata took was purely symbolic in financial terms. It did realistically not prevent any layoffs. Still commendable.
We're here for J
Jay, you are really good at telling stories and entertaining to listen to. Very well done!
I appreciate that!
I definitely have a backlog of games...You're absolutely right. When I think of finally cracking open persona 4 golden, or red dead, or lies of P, I get kind of turned off knowing that while it may be a blast, it's inevitably gonna be a massive time sink. There's only so much free time
*Tomorrow on Jay Station ....... 6000 birds have been let go!!*
😎😎
Totally agreed, we can't crap on all the talent below the top. These problems are almost entirely caused by management. ❤
Great video Jay! Good insight into the video game “bubble” Covid brought on
came from RTU channel had no idea about the issues going on but gladly will come here for my gaming news and streams from now on ! keep up the good work
Thank you! See you later today at 5PM EST
You are doing really good here right now man. Been subbed to this channel for a really long time, a lot of years, so I am pleased as punch to see how good things are going for ye, happy for ye genuinely. Also I laughed out loud at you having to do research to see if what Microsoft said is correct 😂
I appreciate that!
"ReviewtechUSA let go of 1 person" 😂😂😂
Games are expensive af and long too. I barely have time enough as it is. It’s why I just wait on sales cause by then I’d likely be open to finally start another game. Great video and you nailed it.
Like your videos, gives a balance to the insanity going on with Rich, whatever he's doing now. Funny, several of my communities are breaking up now, but the new ones arising are basically purified out of the older ones.
Yeah, true
I think we’re all agreed here on the topic! The issue is hard to weld into a complete understanding, but with games costing lots of money to make but also costing consumers lots to buy….the games have to be nothing short of pure enjoyment!
As long as it’s fun, it doesn’t matter how the game is supposed to run-as long as they do it right.
Yeah man! 🎉
Love you Jay. You deserve your own platform brother cheers
It definitely does help to play the small stuff as you work through the giant titles. Sometimes you just need to complete a game to have the desire to complete a goliath.
(Small games can certainly fill your backlogue just as easily, though.)
Ceo's could take a pay cut, still make millions and keep the companies a float. It's sad to hear anout layoffs.
Yeah, they could. Did they?
I have a massive backlog for PS and Xbox, but it's due to my severe depression. I'm just now working on it.
You are the new and improved reviewTechCanada 🍻🇨🇦🍻
Your delivery and sense of humor is way better than your previous employer's
Borrowed money was basically free until the interest rates rose. Now, companies cant afford to live off credit
Yeah! That’s a huge issue
Great video the rtu joke had me rolling, looking forward to more
More to come!
Jay is a pretty talented editor I can tell just from this video and his script quality as well THE FACT RICH JUST DUMPED HIM IS ASTOUNDING considering everything he did for him on the back end of his RUclips channels that probably saved him A TON OF time and MADE HIM lots of money but hey sometimes we don’t know what we have till it’s gone as the saying goes jay is off to bigger and better things now.
I'm a simple man. When Canadian Jesus makes a video on Vidya gaimes, I watch and pray
The problem is the people who used to make these fantastic games are either no longer a developer or they're trying to form their own teams which is an expensive endeavour and takes a lot of time. But we're still seeing smaller scale games succeed and my hope is that bigger companies recognise this trend.
EA literally just announced more layoffs.
Moral of the story is that greed will catch up to you in the end no matter how big of a corporation you are. The problem is that when these corporation are in trouble, they will blame and fire the hard working people that brought them where they are.
Yeah. True man.
Such a great video! You bring up some great points!
I'm here now from reviewtechusa . Man great video . Hope you do well as a fellow Canadian . I'll be watching for the future cheers man
Thank you man 🎉
I totally agree with you Jay.. my back log still catching up from the ps4 days I have 320 games between ps4 and ps5 not including ps3 ps2 and ps1..I got alot to..so over whelming
I really like the way you did this video. The way you are having a conversion with us. Where jokes aren't used as periods after every sentence. Looking forward to seeing more great content like this. Gave me MetalJesusRocks vibes. And I love me some MetalJesusRocks.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thank you The metal JAYSUS AND IM BACK AGAIN!
It's honestly that the entire economy is in the shitter right now, not just the game/tech industry.
329 members in 2 weeks, that's what happens when you make good content and interact with your audience instead of spending hours stoned while barely interacting with anyone.
No clickbait videos built on the back of unconfirmed rumors, no drama about random youtubers that some of us never heard of, no flipflopping and backtracking on your own words, just Jaysus
I won’t be doing rumour videos either. I know they’d get views but I have no interest in saying “Wow switch 2 is coming” no shit.
I think games just have gotten so bloated budget wise and companies have so many people working on them it's hard to get stuff done
*Steve Ballmer voice* BACKLOGS, BACKLOGS, BACKLOGS, BACKLOGS!
Lol
There is a pawnshop near my place that sells cheap used 360 games. I liked that era but missed out because I had a kid. Now that shes older been getting back into 360 titles and now have a big Canadian backlog of 360 games to play.
That’s perfect dude! Hope you’re enjoying them
Saw another video covering tech companies. Guy says a lot of layoffs are on hyper specialized positions that weren’t really necessary, but they wanted to increase their head count to look like they’re growing. Overhiring was inevitable in that situation. Not sure if that’s the case with games. That said there hasn’t been a AAA game I really liked in years
Sega had at least 61 people, that right there is a shock lol
Corporations being so opportunistic during the worldwide tragedy of covid-19 is despicable. If they just could control their greedy impulses and stayed steady, all these people's jobs would have survived. This is all blowback for their lack of restraint or moral considerations for their own workforce
Lack of restraint? They let everyone work from home and the quality of the products suffered
The AAA space is crumbling but the video game industry overall will be better then ever once the AAA publishers are gone... eventually.
It will just take a while for the next generation of indie studios to repair the damage the AAA space caused.
I have a backlog in the hundreds on Steam alone and I would never pay full price for a video game, in Australia full RRP is $119.99 and I would never pay even half of that.
That pricing is insane dude
Bruh why did you ask me about my backlog??
I have over 800 games in it AHHHHHHHHHH!!!! 😂😭
Holy hell for real?
My backlog start from Alone in the dark followed by FEAR2 Project Origins!
I just have one question, why do they have a management who dont even understand the craft? These MBAs, screaming AI/AI all the time.
Fun fact, it's a japanese law so more than likely iwata wasn't so noble but who knows
Dang way better quality than RTU
My backlog? End of time status 😂.
Jay, you mentioned loan rates, ad ya that is an ever bigger issue now with interest rates being so high, that of course will squash moneyh spending in many industries that rely on loans to get it done.
Yeah! It’s a major problem for sure
My backlog has been clogged since 2021. I haven't really purchased many new games the past few years except some GOTY games like RE4 Remake and Helldivers 2. Please unclog my backlogs, Jay.
Have some Pooh
America 2008 again is around the corner
Jay. So glad to see you post on this channel again. What happened to jkb, bbback again?
I don’t know. It’s immature
I've made peace with the fact that I will never get through my whole backlog
I have a huge backlog so I’m able to comfortably wait for games to go on 30-50% sales .
Live service isn’t the issue is the woke writing and agenda pushing that’s ruining the gaming.
Finally we get jay videos love your videos jay keep 'em coming
Thank you have some Pooh
Great intro and video, Jay 🐈
Glad you enjoyed it
Publishers have way too much power, and don't actually seem to care about video games.
Its just about making money and not good games.
I miss the 360 & PS2 era's so much. It's pretty much peak gaming. Modern Console libraries lack so much selection & quality. Devs should never stop taking inspiration from previous gens. Timeless games don't need hyper realistic graphics. Some of the best games have unique art styles, unique damage effects, smaller more interactive environments, destructible objects, physics like effects or funny cartoonish or absurd type of effects. Anytime i say this someone in the comments always says: "umm well we have indie games" but my point is we need this kind of game selection on CONSOLES as well. PC's have steam & tons of access to a unique library of creative projects. Look at the Game Library of the most recent game consoles? Now look at previous generation consoles? There's no competition. It's not even close to the PS2, N64, PS1, Xbox, GameCube, Dreamcast, 360, PS3, etc.
If game devs & game companies realize they are wasting such insane amounts of $ & time to make a game that still runs so terribly (no matter if u have the best PC possible. Which proves it's how these games were made. Not the tech hardware needing a upgrade. I bet we haven't even come close to pushing modern hardware to it's limits yet) *So if devs & companies can see it might not take so long to make a game, not cost so much money to make EACH GAME. Give these things a chance to prove they are capable of being timeless. Hopefully we see a resurgence of pure nerdy passion & focus from devs if they are allowed to just focus on smaller passion projects. Especially with today's technological advancements. Previous games should still inspire newer games no matter how far into the future we go. We shouldn't leave those unique aspects of gaming in the past. Hopefully the struggles of the modern day triple AAA games will organically shift change back towards a better direction. I just worry about the gaming industry being at a certain point where people who are severely out of touch with the core gaming community are the ones that are making the most decisions and forcing devs to do things they completely don't want to do because they know it's a bad idea.. I wish we didn't have so many game companies get bought out. I miss when a game was a project worked on by a group of passionate people who decided they wanted to create this passion project.. Now it's like a popular underground band getting bought out by a mega Corp and now they have full say in the way they play music and when they play music and what they say in their music.. I hope gaming snaps out of this dark chapter and they find their roots they left in the wake of the Y2K era..
Jay! You reached 60(k!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉
I have backlog on multiple platforms, PS4, PS5, Xbox and the Switch. Games are so damn expensive.
