  • Has today's idea of masculinity evolved? Or are we stuck in an outdated understanding of what it meant to be 'a man'? In this piece for CBC Creator Network, Cal Campos (they/them) explores the evolution of masculinity from its earliest days until now - an era where artists like Lil Nas X, Harry Styles, and more are setting the stage for a new understanding of what masculinity is, and could be.

you do understand that it's not just men telling men not to show emotion?
it's just as much their mothers,be brave, boys don't cry, made fun of in school if they cry, picked on
and a lot of women don't like men who are too emotional they loose trust and confidence in them
things need to change but it shouldn't just be aimed at men

Idk what kind of mother you had but mine and most that I know never told their sons that boys shouldn’t cry lmao, it’s predominantly overly masculine fathers that encourage that thinking, at least where I’m from in the West. You’re also making it embarrassingly obvious to the internet that you’ve never been able to form an emotional connection to a girl before because I’ve yet to come across a female who isn’t willing to talk about emotions; there’s a reason that statistically, the vast majority of therapists are female lmao.

They're not saying that. They're not blaming anyone for it. They're literally just talking about. They're acknowledging goods and bads and talking about there experiences. If you look past some feminist tiktoks online and have a conversation with normal people you will find that nobody's blaming men for anything.

You’re simply wrong. How can you say the world is subjective in all it’s forms of interpretation (assumption, correct me if I’m wrong), yet dedicate an entire video clearly claiming you know exactly how to “define” Masculinity? Masculinity is not something to be ashamed of. Toxicity is not synonymous with masculinity. What happened with being grateful for the “tyrannical and oppressive”patriarchal structure that’s shed painful hard work to build such an amazing infrastructure and economy (at least in the US).

I think there is room for everyone in however they want to show up as in this world. If a man who wants to look typically male and be strong and protect others, then he can. Just like a woman who chooses to exhibit more feminine traits cand do that too. It's all about choice and freedom of expression, and as long as someone isn't hurting others, they should be respected equally. I hope you are well and take care. ❤

it's not mens fault about sport sure they may have been issues but now men dominate simply because due to women more involved with sport there is still less, but it's down to money most women's sports have less interest so bring in less money.
people are going to be less inclined to invest or have priority if there is a much lower audience.
maybe women should support womens sport more? not everything is solely down to men!

As a non-alpha male, I have never really been comfortable with stereotypical masculinity, and I think it's helpful to keep having this discussion (though I find it funny to have the 2000s characterized by attitudes that I remember from the 1970s). I also value hearing views from trans-males, as the trans viewpoint so often seems dominated by trans-women.

They aren't ashamed of having emotions, wearing jewlery and wearing what they want soft femein clothing pieces mixed in. They are real and who they want to be. They are more than performers. groups are going into to schools and separating kids by race and talking about privilege, how does this contribute to healthy view of yourself or others
or they go into schools and ask questions if you answer a certain way they move forward and that how they start the race
it's harmful and causes divide which is not healthy so maybe stopping this privilege nonsense would be a good place to start
a healthier start would be make schools understand how important it is to teach kids to be respectful and get to know kids who are different from you...
