each of these livestreams get better and better as doug and kennan settle into the format, crack jokes, and nerd out about cars. nick was a great guest, too. looking forward to the next one!
I was the one who asked about replacing my CRV with a V10 M5 lmao. I purposely left out info because I knew they would find it funny. I already own an E93 LCI M3 (and apart from the almost $8,000 I’ve spent on maintaining it) I wanted an M5 to have that pair of cars because I think that would be cool. I’m completely aware of what it takes to maintain these cars. The throttle actuators died on my M3 when I was 300 miles away from home. The thermostat just went bad and I had to replace that, I also got a screw in one of my rear tires but I can’t blame the car for that. I also did coils and plugs. All of that work I did in the last 2 months. I really enjoy the car and for all the flaws it has I love the platform and the engine. I definitely think it’s worth the headaches. For the record, it doesn’t cost 20 grand to fix all those things, it costs like 8 🤣 but I’m going to say the classic line that once you do those things it’s all good. Then a million small things will break but you won’t grenade the engine at least.
Thanks for submitting that question, and yes, I really find it superbly insane! 😅 No rational person in this world will ever make this level of transition.
Only thing with the S6 - that V10 is so crammed into the engine bay, the engine has to come out for things like an O2 sensor (depending on which one. It has 6x oxygen sensors. Yes 6x). The intake manifolds are known to fail (the variable runners flaps break) and it’s a ton of work to replace, and the new manifold costs $3,500 to $4,000. They were also purely direct injection, so the intake valves get terribly gummed up with carbon. Some people get these manually cleaned, which again is very costly and time consuming. Bonus facts: The timing chains are on the rear of the engine. Some of the accessories are ran off the crank via a gear shaft. The fact that the engine sits so far forward in the bay means the handling is not as good. And compared the E60 M5, the Audi does not have independent throttle bodies, the redline is lower, and I believe the exhaust manifolds are not equal length like the M5. So all this means it does not sound as good as the M5, and does not have the horsepower either. It has more american V8 tone mixed in it versus the M5’s F1 type sound. Maybe marginally more reliable though, and the transmission is a ZF versus the SMG, although the M5 manual is okay.
I think you should add a wanted section of cars and bids. Then people could be more likely to list their car if they see multiple wanted posts. Maybe we see more rare cars come up. Everyone wants to see what a manual Murci SV would bring at an auction.
Jay Leno has a PRISTINE WS6. I’m sure Doug could make that review happen….easily. He was able to review Jay’s $20 million Mclaren F1, I’m sure he would let you review his 2002 Pontiac 😂
I’m not one to want to meet celebrities but I have always wanted to shake Leon’s hand. I’ve had 7 F body’s in my life and I settled on a 00 SS as my favorite. Doug call Jay and get that review out!
I got my first S2000 3months ago after owning a tonne of MX5s. 2000 model AP1 with 27000miles (44000kms). Average to good condition. Paid about 1/6 of the price that CR went for. But honestly. Its worth the money. The S2000 is a lot more special then the MX5. And also drives way better then a 987 or 987.2 cayman or boxster. Who knows how much they will be in 30 years
Lol been looking at the thumbnail with Brian for the last few days and now it’s not even mentioned he’s not in it, I’m sure it wasn’t deliberate but y’all made clickbait trash lol
In 2008 I bought my very first new car, a 2008 Honda Civic SI sedan. The dealer in Bloomington Minnesota had a baby blue S 2000 CR. It was so beautiful, it was so out of my price range :-).
I don’t know if its like a bit or like an inside joke but i feel like doug sometimes is a bit too rude to Kennan sometimes. Like something just feels off about it sometimes.
OH MY GOD I had an 05 b7 s4 and remember distinctly that "nicks car blog" or something of the sort on audizine and I remember that because they were the only guides that actually used grammar let alone photos
Oh cool, Doug includes my question as the final final one as he thought it was an interesting one. >Only one of them answers it and they go off on a five minute tangent about wagon conversions. ...Cool!
Lambo owners: "Whew, I'm spent after driving my Merci/Countach" and all the while, Kennan's like "DUUUDE, I could totally drive my E39 coast to coast. No prob." Kennan, totally offering to cannon....I mean, sensibly return your car to you should you send to NC for a wheel refurb :). Cheers all!
Why is it so hard to find the live videos on YT. Recent vids don’t show up and the playlist isn’t updated. Am i an idiot or is doug just bad at this lol
If anyone REALLY wants a CR, just get an AP2. I own an AP2, wanted the AP2 when it was sold new and I was in high school. I'm a Honda fanboy. The S2000 CR is far too overrated and is only worth it if you're a collector or just really want the CR. The CR specific parts are the tonneau cover, quicker steering rack (13.9:1 vs. 14.9:1), AP1 flywheel (14 lbs vs. AP2's 22 lbs), yellow interior, shift light, stiffer suspension (which isn't really that great and should be swapped for Öhlins), and spoilers and front splitter. Everything else is basically just parts thrown on: hardtop, wheels (the AP2 V3 was a 255 versus a 245), and some other tidbits. The CR owners get a pat on the back within the S2000 community because it is rare, but these aren't so different that they get lauded like the CTR. But normies really fawn over the CR more than S2000 owners ever have. I can wax poetic about cars for ages, but the CR is far too much money for the amount of car you get. Edit: DO YOU PEOPLE NOT UNDERSTAND BUSHINGS ROT WITH TIME AND OXYGEN? LOW MILES DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING. CHEMISTRY EXISTS. That car is going to need $2k worth of bushings and mounts, new wheel bearings, a valve adjustment, etc.
Sure, but the same car with 90k miles will need a lot more 2k in repairs and maintenance. So yes, mileage is still the most important part of buying a vehicle
This is actually way too depressing. I always has had to go practical, when R32’s, R33’s...Supra everywhere. Could have spent the same money....and damn....
@@carsandbids can you tell Doug to review some VWs? I don’t understand why he’s avoided that brand when there are so many legendary cars. Especially the VR6 ones. They’re also literally selling for 6 figures on competing sites…

Thanks for having me today, that was so much fun!
Doug needs to talk about car price markets and their fluctuating potential during WWIII.
You're a YT natural!
Great episode, hope you are on again often

I was born the same year as Nick. I too know nothing after 2010 and don’t care to learn

Kenan: "let me finish"
Doug: pauses for a moment then continues to speak over him
He says the same thing to Doug in bed 😙
This is actually cool to see Doug having fun
25:00 had me ROLLING
It was absolute gold and Kennen is clearly on crack

Wasn’t this supposed to be with Brian Scotto?
Who is that?
Sure was… damn
Lol been looking at the thumbnail with Brian for the last few days and now it’s not even mentioned he’s not in it, I’m sure it wasn’t deliberate but y’all made clickbait trash lol
He could have canceled at the last moment and they and to improvise
Who is Brian Scotto?
Doug yelling at Kennan for pressing the wrong thing 😂

Do you still have this car? My first new car was a 98 Camaro SS, which I still own. Now I’m in a c7 grand sport. I also live in Minnesota.

Ikr it’s kinda cringe either way
Doug IS rude..
yeah it seems he treats kennan like his little slave sometimes ngl
I thought that I was the only one who noticed this… Doug just bosses Kennan around like Kennan is a pet.
Kennan snaps back, they have fun banter together. It is all in jest.
I'm Doug DeMuro and THISSS is a Kennan and I'm going to show you all of his quirks and features...
"You saw one of these coming around your town and that guy was going to fire your dad" 😂😂😂😂 I died laughing.
This was fantastic. Thank you! Very funny
Thanks!
What happened to the Brain one???....Was something about Ken mentioned that couldn't be aired??
No, just had something come up. We will get him on soon.

Dang… I was looking forward to Scotto.
He had to cancel last minute, we will get him on.
taking a step back, 96k for a s2000 is madness to me. its a 4 cylinder sports car. i appreciate its a special version but its just not worth that.
Why is this not called cars and cookies?
Does anyone has an idea why the exact same cars in the European market cost more than just the euro-dollar ratio compared to the us market
Actually we don’t have any stickers at all anymore in British Columbia 😎
Amsterdam E38 t-shirt: "You make money, but your life sucks, its always cold."
Kennan should buy some shirts that fit him properly

Kennan doesn't do his own brake work? Were those reman or rebuilt calipers? I'm revoking your driving glove privileges until you work on your own car.
