Worst things that happened to car reviewers: #3. Jay Leno - caught on fire, days in hospital #2. Richard Hammond: almost broke his neck, weeks in hospital #1. Doug DeMuro: got wet in the rain, 30 minutes in camera store Tough luck has Doug 🤣🤣🤣
Jay also was in a wheelie car that flipped over and drove his motorcycle into a trip wire in an alley almost clipping his head. I think two of those in same year 😅
Hahaha yes true. I guess I did break down one other time, although to be fair I kinda expected the Isetta issues and the resulting rescue was hilarious.
So glad that you and your wife were able to have kids. That story was really moving and proves you never know what someone is going through. That G80 video is one of my favorites, didn't even notice something was going on, and you are extremely professional.
Doug basically tells us a story how he's able to write off the expenses for his honeymoon because he did a car review during it, then he makes more money while he's telling us the story.
❤💔 I know it’s been a while, but as some who also experienced having difficulty having kids years ago and having to keep up the daily life… prevailing to get it all done shouldn’t be glossed over as a true accomplishment Happy Holidays!
My god, man- 2 of everything when you shoot! 2 cameras, 2 tripods, 2 microphones, extra memory and a supply of batteries/chargers. Also: get a clip-on umbrella for the tripod to cover the camera in the rain. This should all fit in one good pro camera bag for travel. You’ve got the bucks, Dougie!
That dealership was looking for free advertising. Just let him drive it. I know they want to keep the miles off such a car, and being Ferrari, they think its God's gift to the road. No one is going to say "6 miles? No deal."
I'm a professional photographer and no matter how many times you do the same thing or how well you prepare, life can always throw you a curveball, or something just slips your mind and you forget an integral part. It's just like having a bad day at any other job. Also, the curse of the camera is not a guarantee but it is real. I've been trying to film a new video with my car, and have run into a camera failure each and every time, from the battery dumping charge, to overheating, to sudden traffic on a usually quiet road. I think the lesson is to push through and overcome, and yes, have backups!
It really wasn't a big deal. It got a little squirrelly but I saved it, moved on, nothing happened. I never really think about it. It does look funny on camera, though!!
Roughly 30 years ago my mother had a miscarriage of my younger brother and lost her father within 3 months of each other. You are not alone. Thank you for all the great work you've done and continue to do.
As someone who works as a photographer in the off-road motorsports and UTV industry for the past 5 years the amount of wrecked cars during shooting is staggering. The most expensive one was a $200,000 prerunner rolled but luckily we had all the shots we needed and it was right at the end of the shoot. We have had countless flats, blown transmissions, tie rods, wheels, body damage and even seen cars roll down massive sand dunes. Off-road media is very destructive. Not to mention getting stuck in the desert for hours on end😅 LUCKILY I have never had anyone get hurt on a photoshoot👏
My wife had a miscarriage a few months ago. It's so hard to go to work and put on a happy face. We'll never try for another. We will most likely adopt. I've been a fan of the channel since 2014, and ive always wondered what the worst things were thst happened on set.
The miscarriage story is so emotional to think about. Actually shot a crowdfunding video for a high school short film a few days after my family left my father in the middle of the night, and the location was right down the street from the old house. Looking back, I also can't see that in the finished product, but I do remember great times filming with some friends, and literally running to a Walgreens when our SD card failed. Kinda healing to know you can pull through horrible experiences like that
I'm sorry to hear about the miscarriage. At least in my opinion you're allowed to take some time off for personal reasons Doug! Don't push yourself too much. I've been watching your videos for the last 7 years (the Pontiac Aztek was the first one haha) but I never really thought about the fact you have a private life too, obviously. So as I said please don't overwork yourself and to many more years of quirks and features! :)
I’m sorry about the miscarriage, Thats sad to hear. No one is going to read this, but having own children are real blessing. Wait till you have grandkids. That’s the best thing ever.
I know what you’re saying about Napa. Very true. I used to live next door in Sonoma County. It’s very true. When it does rain up there, it does so mostly in the Fall and Winter.
Doug, regarding the Ferrari Enzo story in Australia..Yes you had plenty of experience driving very expensive super and hyper cars in the US and Enzo is a very expensive hyper car...I would say the reason why the Aussies did not let you drive it is because of all the laws and liabilities surrounding someone on International license and maybe unfamiliarities with driving on the opposite side of the road and Melbournes busy unfamiliar streets.. But I agree with you, if they did not agree on you driving it than they should have honestly told you when they communicated with you before you left the US.
15:32 it's not just limited to RUclipsrs or content creators. Everyone that works to earn a penny has to show up every day, regardless of what happens. Rather it's the RUclipsrs or freelancers like them who are not accountable to anyone if they skip a day
I do have to chuckle about having to drive "30 minutes" away to a store. That's pretty much any specialty store where I live. Maybe even longer away. I wouldn't change (did big cities living, no bueno anymore for me) anything, but it was funny to me. No shade on Doug about it either. Can see why it would be stressful in a finite time situation.
my dad is a professional photographer (stills, not video) and he would have a heart attack if he heard you only carry 1 camera (for the exact reasons you ran into).
Have you ever done a video of what goes into making a Doug video - shot setup, location planning, research, reading the owners manual looking for quirks and features, etc. It would be Doug-ception.
Can I just say, I’m so happy that Doug and his wife were able to still have children. I personally don’t want kids, and no one will put up with me long enough to try having children with me, but I’m really glad Doug was able to do it for his family and his life.

It's a fine example of "the show must go on" philosophy.
Doug is the type of guy to honeymoon without his wife

I mean he got the backend out for a few seconds then let off the gas and nothing happened, not a very exciting or engaging story.
