Sounded like Scott had some difficulty breathing walking up hill, for my breathing inflammation issues. I use a homemade remedy. One cup organic honey, to it mix in a heaping teaspoon of each of these three turmeric powder, ginger powder and Ceylon cinnamon. I keep in cupboard so it is always ready to use. I have it on toast n not in my tea as the honey loses some of its antibacterial properties in the heating process. It ferments within 24 hours. A refreshing drink for helping to open breathing is drinking organic pineapple juice for the bromelien in it. Hope Scott improves

I think your illness came from the sanding because you had stored the bookcases in the byer which is damp, mould spores will have started to grow on the wood and when you started to sand the said bookcase these became airborne and you breathed them in. always always wear a mask when using a sander as it is not just mould you need to be careful of with old furniture the paint also could contain lead.

Loved seeing you use that paper "model" to plan out your "bunker". It's a fairly common way of room planning I think - at least here in Australia. It really helps take away the struggle and juggling around of chunky furniture and makes it much easier to go through the various options and possibilities before putting the actual furniture anywhere. I hope it all fits in well and is the optimal work space for you Scott.
Love your channel and really enjoy not only seeing how you're doing things and what you do but also loving all the gorgeous scenery shots. They could have filmed endless Camelot type movies there or Lord of the Rings segments.

Breakfast cereals also came with plastic toys, paper cutouts, boxes with printed on the inside with things to be made. Tea came with cards to be collected and collectable football cards and later Star Wars cards to be bought on the way to school. What a time to be alive.

The wood looks like ash or walnut maybe. Like you said, once you Osmo, it may become clearer.
That old rotting tree trunk you filmed, what causes that green tinge to the wood? Is that algae?
I don't think I've ever seen a live slug. I've seen pictures of them, but I've never seen one slurping along. I saw one gal who was gardening on youtube and she put out shallow saucers of beer to attract slugs. I thought that was weird.
Another was talking about using small plastic containers of half powdered sugar and half baking soda.
The previous residents probably put a barrel on a donkey and had the donkey carry the water down the hill.

I sincerely hope you don't have Lime disease, Scott. Hopefully, it was fallout from the sanding, and charcoal will do the trick. But, in case it does turn out to be Lime, there is a Lime disease specialist doctor in Boston who cured my roommate. I know the common wisdom is that you can't cure it, but she was very sick, saw this doctor, and now is well. This is not hearsay, second or third hand - I personally saw this. I hope you never have to use this bit of knowledge.... good luck to you!

Enjoyed Katie's 'little historical bit' More please.
Also very impressed by your use of flashing band in such difficult circumstances/angles! Have tried to do similar with much worse results. Which product exactly did you use? and how much did the warm day help?
..keep up the good work. I've watched every episode

I think the sunshine did help make it more malleable. We used Bostik Flashband, the proper branded stuff and it worked well. No more leaks! Kx

Do you remember the bang bang, it was a two cardboard shapes with brown paper in between and when you forced it down it made a bang? Came in a comic, which one I can t remember.

🐑 I like the name Lindy (or Lindie) for Lindisfarne.
As for a cheese related name, there's the always popular Schnebelhorn... 😂
or Perl (Las). I enjoyed every bit, hope you're feeling better Scott. Cheers ❤x

Even if you never figure out what wood the bookcase is made of, sanded and refinished it's still going to be a nice piece of furniture! What needs to be destroyed and re-built better is the shed featured in the start of this video. It's going rot out from underneath you in a year or two, even if you try to save it. For the same amount of time and effort, and not much more money you could have a building which will last a lifetime..

Katie, I love your attire. Do you make your outfits? Are they a traditional Scottish attire? I love the sleeves with the buttons down them.

I love watching your channel, I live in the U.S. in Tennessee and if I could go anywhere in the world to visit it would be Scotland. I'm sooo confused though, you say there are owners of the island, does that mean you are caretaker's of your cottage and property or do you actually own the cottage and the property around it? It's such a beautiful area and thank you for the videos.
