  • Celebrity portrait photographer Mark Mann and fashion photographer Alex Hooks review the Titan X1 by Rotolight. They test how this 1x1 LED panel works as a key light for portrait photography and review its built-in features, including built-in diffusion and gels.
    If you want to know how the Titan X1 performs as a studio light for portrait photography, this video is for you. If you want to glean some tips on how a celebrity portrait photographer lights his subjects, this is ALSO the video for you.
    The Titan X1 by Rotolight is a 1x1 LED panel with a crazy number of built-in features. It has built in diffusion and millions (literally) of color gels and filters, and even has a strobe setting. But are these features any good? Watch the video to find out. (Note that we’re only testing the features that are relevant to photography, so we’re not weighing in on how realistic the fire flicker and gunshot effects are).

    Anova Pro 2 with a shoot through umbrella amazing light. Mark your work is one of the reasons I bought Rotolight. Love the videos. Thanks.

    Comment made at the 8:00 Min mark is SPOT ON. I shot a subject in front of a brightly lit window, exposed for the background at 1/8000, ISO 100, F2.0, Titan X1 6 feet away, Diffusion 0%, Brightness MAX, and the subject was not getting enough light. I jumped over the XPLOR 1200 and wha-laaa let there be Light! "Again - Well said at the 8:00min mark".

    I love Rotolight so much, but the X1 and X2 would be much bigger home runs closer to the $2500-$3000 mark than near $5000.

      Yeh ...but I think if you add in the video light side it's a different thing.. you ok?

    I use Rotolights and I really like them for portraits. I have a strobe for a back up, but I have found the Titan works great at full brightness and 200x with flash. I also use AEOS and NEO2s. Curious who makes the grey backdrop? Thanks.

    Can the Aputure Sidus Link light remote control app connect via bluetooth or DMX with the Rotolight Titan X1?

      @@ComplicatedThings Thanks a lot, much appreciated. I am really intrigued getting a Titan X1 but I worry about easy integration into existing Aputure setup. There is also still the P300C instead of the Titan X1 but I am really impressed by that the X1 can do, especially in terms of very effective quick electronic diffusion adjustments.

      @@ComplicatedThings Did you have a chance to check whether Sidus Link can remote control the Titan X1? It would greatly help me with my purchase decision.

    It honestly makes me sad to see the quality of images in this video. Reminds me of a beginner high school photographer just pointing a small light source at a subject and taking snapshots. Would have liked to see you attempt your signature style with this light... Just goes to show how important modifiers are, which LED panels haven’t been able to offer. Built in diffusion does not hold up at all to an actual soft box.

      @BougVR 3 года назад +1

      Hay Chase I'm sorry you were dissapointed. But genuinely was trying to make a signature look . I love using just one light with a fill card.. its a very common look for me.
      In the video I was much more intersted in exploring the quality light and how it falls on the subject . I never use softboxs so I'm not really in a position to comment I do however use diffusion sheets and material as diffusion so for me I was delighted with the built in diffusion. Again sorry if you were dissapointed but please keep watching.

    Nice review. However, are you sure about the amount of strobe power? In another (Rotolight) review (this one: ruclips.net/video/aCpXsrjssd4/видео.html ) it seems like it can over power the sun light.
    They even say the power at strobe is twice the power of the normal light.
    I’m really curious, because that can be a reason to buy or not to buy the light.

      To be honest, I am not sure of the answer. I would definitely suggest reaching out to Rotolight directly and see what they have to say. Maybe we can do some tests on it for for an episode.

      Jason is paid by Rotolight. The same images that you see in Jason's video are the one's the Rotolight are using in their user manual for the Titan X1, it is not that powerful out in the full sun
