Loved the book and loved the movie. Shame that this clip is so short, I would like to hear Ishiguro talk about it at greater length.

Miss Kenton (Mrs. Benn) dodged a bullet with Stevens. She could have ended up the same way Stevens Sr. did (along with several other people who mysteriously vanished from Stevens's life).
She loved him though, I wasn't sure if it was anything more than platonic though. Perhaps She could sense his longing for something missing in his life and wanted to be there for him? Like She said, She didn't intend on actually leaving him but just wanted to annoy him. I really loved this movie. Emma and Anthony played those characters excellently. That last scene where She cried was everything.
@@sean2me I think the scene where he hears her crying through the door (and enters and she sits on the floor and cries) makes clear that her feelings for him aren't platonic.
If this was the real world, I would want her to get over Mr. Stevens, too. He would need many hours of therapy in order to become capable of being in a non-toxic relationship with a woman. Something that would not have been available to him, even if he saw the necessity. I wouldn't want to be in a relationship with a man who cannot show or communicate his feelings. I mean, many of us women grew up with a father like that and so we feel sorry or responsible for men like Mr. Stevens, but that's not healthy, either.
For a book it's totally tragic and romantic in a twisted, masochistic way. I think it's fitting that they cannot solve the situation in the end.

excellent. the landed class still has properties that england has not recorded. the country looking out for them. before a certain year their properties are not on the record yet single family home owners have to pay taxes on their home.

From one extreme to another. Here we have someone with an aversion to capital letters. How extraordinary to find this among the few comments beneath a RUclips video.
