As a nightshift worker myself, I can say that one of the major factors contributing to sleeping during the day being unhealthy is that pretty much everything is structured around the idea that people will sleep at night, so it's really not so much that you sleep during the day as it is that everything you do outside of sleeping and working interferes with your sleep.
This! I used to do lots of nightshifts, and really struggled to sleep enough, because everything kept waking me up. At night the world is quiet, but during the day there's neighbours cars, dogs barking, bin men, builders, vacuum cleaners etc. creating all sorts of distractions. I used to walk my dog, do my food shopping, and then eat a proper meal first thing in the morning after I got home from work. After that most people in the neighbourhood had gone to work, so I could get about 6 hrs of sleep before there was too much happening again. Also night shifts in the winter meant that I wouldn't see the sun for days, as it wasn't light yet when I went to bed, and it was getting dark again by the time I woke up. That doesn't make it any easier. I generally sleep well during the day, but waking up is much harder without light.
I had bad acne and the thing that helped me was accutane. I highly recommend discussing it with your dermatologist to whomever is still suffering with acne. ❤️

When I was 2 years old I ran face first onto a wrought iron chair and split my face open, fracturing the bone around my eye. 3 months later I got attacked by a small dog and had to have stitches in my face. My dad brought me in both times and after the second one he got asked some hard questions by the staff, obviously to determine whether or not I was being abused. That wasn’t going on, it was just a couple freak accidents from a happy, confident, uncoordinated child but my dad was so happy that they asked about it. They were looking out for me, which he appreciated.

From cosmetology school, in some instances, yes it can cause it and make it worse. It can get into large pours and become trapped. If it's not properly removed at the end of the day, it increases the chances of settling into pours and building up. If make up is old or becomes contaminated, it can cause skin problems and irritations too. It's not good to share make up with anyone and it's important to wash applicators and brushes frequently. Some brands of make up can cause irritations to folks with skin issues and sensitivities, as well as the products used to remove it, if high in perfumes and alcohol content, as well as scrubbing too hard. Skin needs time to breath for good health. It can make cases of acne worse because the skin is already angry, more rubbing and touching with product and removers can build it to a bigger head or make it more painful. Some pours can be like ditches; they can keep building up and filling up. Skipping oil based foundation make ups might be best for a while. A light, gentle, dusting of powder make up might help, if you just can't go without it.
Pretty sure that got debunked, but if you swim right after eating and feel unwell you probably should wait a little. I swim competitively and have noticed some of my teammates can down a burrito 10 minutes before a practice and feel fine, while some (like myself) will feel nauseous if they eat toast even an hour before swimming.

Those are the patients that make me cry, but there's technically nothing I can do in clerical besides talk to the provider or office manager about it.
Idk about the y part of the question. But I'm sure there r no side effects to not itching. For example when u have a insect bite or something if u don't itch for some time and control urself u get used to the sensation and don't feel it after some time but if u do itch then u will want to continue itching which will irritate ur skin later if u scratch urself too hard.
Most of the time, itching is due to our sensors all over our body being reacted, that being said, it depends why, like a bug bite should not be itched since it can make it worse, now if your itching due to say clothes bothering your skin, its not dangerous or anything. And no, if you leave it alone, its much better than itching it, since your spreading germs to say a bite or something^^
Use only the pillowy part of your fingers. I imagine we itch to scratch off anything dangerous or that just shouldn't be there. Our brain just signals that even when it doesn't seem like a big deal to us. 🤷♀️ Supposing here.

Have you noticed a difference or a even a difficulty when it comes to treating the mental health of people of color? As a young latina woman (🇨🇷 ) I have definitely seen the stigma that my culture places on seeking help when it comes to mental health, so I was wondering if you’ve seen that as well among your patients. Hey, I have Crohn's disease and almost nobody that I have told have heard of it and I and many people would appreciate it if you made a video on it or even a Instagram post. Thanks for all your content anyway.
Headache yes, because you just put your body to a high stress by drinking cold water. After an workout, we all heat up or sweat (which are normal processes that our body does after consuming energy as heat is the result of catabolism)and so to release all that temperature our bodies dilates our blood vessels so as the blood flow levels the temperature...and by drinking something cold you just make them constrict in a very short amount of time and not gradually, thus resulting in slowing the blood stream and pain... Hope I didn't barged in 😅

Dr. Mike can make-up cause acne or make it worse.
Question: Why can't we swim just after eating
It's a mom myth
You can.
I don't think you can swim right after you eat. One of my friends died due to eating just before he went to the pool. He was a great swimmer too.
You get tired after bigger meals anf if you get tired when swimming (even more than actual swimming) so.. ye.. hope that covered it

dr mike: does chocolate really cause acne-
ad: *struggling with acne?*
Wow
i have had thoose moments😏
Yes, I am
It is the dairy that is causing acne.
The acne/chocolate correlation: I asked my dermatologist, and she says it´s the caffeine that could worsen skin conditions. White chocolate is mostly harmless in this regard while dark chocolate is the most likely to cause trouble.
So... yeah, not chocolate itself but caffeine. Good news is it´s not the sugar!
i guess it depends on the individual really then, cause i drink 2-3 expressos a day every day and my acne is usually controlled. however all it takes is a piece of chocolate or a slice of chocolate cake and boom, acne's back
Some people also have a problem with dairy which CAN cause skin problems.
There is absolutely no proof for that. If it were True Coffee drinkers would have acne.

Why do we scratch an itch when most of the time it just makes the affected area worse? Are there any side effects if we don't scratch an itch?
Idk about the y part of the question. But I'm sure there r no side effects to not itching.
For example when u have a insect bite or something if u don't itch for some time and control urself u get used to the sensation and don't feel it after some time but if u do itch then u will want to continue itching which will irritate ur skin later if u scratch urself too hard.
In my country it is called positive feedback. And no.
Usually i would dislike people like docter mike but this guy has something so possitive over him that it is infectious and it motivates me to live a better life. He also convinced me to see a doctor, so, thanks mike!

QUESTION FOR DR. MIKE: As a dr. you’ve mentioned that you see a lot of racially diverse patients.
P.S. I LOVE your videos.
As a Canadian..there are links to cultural values, racism, and religious upbringing that impact each person differently and can contribute to mental health..both in a good or negative way.

Question: Is it possible to unintentionally give yourself a headache/raise your normal body temperature, by drinking cold water after working out?
Headache yes, because you just put your body to a high stress by drinking cold water. After an workout, we all heat up or sweat (which are normal processes that our body does after consuming energy as heat is the result of catabolism)and so to release all that temperature our bodies dilates our blood vessels so as the blood flow levels the temperature...and by drinking something cold you just make them constrict in a very short amount of time and not gradually, thus resulting in slowing the blood stream and pain...
