Some general comments on service. Not a criticism, more general tips. I'm really surprised at how cheap the post warranty spares and service were. For the issues cited, actually are quite major and equal in price to Japanese and Korean brands. The stuff like headlights, batteries, nothing major, normal wear. For viewers info, I would fight the following and don't pay. Have done that before. 1. Diagnosis charge 120 2. Bring own engine oil. Shell helix ultra 260rm 4l. Online as little as rm100 original but not through shell msia. They are charging you 320 for Castrol.. It's only 250 actually. The same as coolant, brake fluid. The best 5 star brands i.e Bosch, Castrol, Caltex will still be cheaper than sc price. 3. What is disinfection? No way 4. Never ever buy tires at sc. And batteries and wipers and windscreen cleaner. Never, please. 5. Oil filter direct purchase is cheaper. 6. What is tunap interior. 7. Dispute every labor charge. Crazy 215 for an oil change. Theres minimal labor involved. For fluids and wear and tear parts i.e wipers, filters always go for, Castrol, Bosch, Shell, Chevron these are the highest quality

Sadly, thats how german and other premium automakers make money here in Malaysia (or anywhere else in that matter), they give u a 5 to 7 years warranty, but you have to pay exorbitant prices to service your car with them, else your warranty will be automatically void. You could see my service price reduced drastically after 2019 after I no longer send to the service centre for the periodic maintenance.
@@PsychedMedia agree, just most people don't realize it can be disputed.... But service center are pro are scaring and intimidating their customers. In overseas markets, by law warranty honors oem and self-repair as long as no counterfeit parts are used.
@@Vanguardkl yes, overseas they have magnuson moss warranty act, in which owner can do maintenance by themselves and still able to claim warranty if anything happens if they can provide proof that maintenance has been done, too bad no such thing over here, we don't even have lemon laws like other country where the manufacturer have to buy back the car if the car keeps having problems despite many attempts to repair it.

As you said mmg EA888 Gen 3 engine juga ada isu coolant water pump. Btw Passat facelift guna EA888 Gen 3b. Tak pasti adakah mereka ada solusi utk issue tu.

I pun tak tahu apa pasal almost everything guna plastik. Water pump failure pun sebab dia made by plastic so not durable and easily cracked. Ada sykt luar negara reka water pump thermostat khas utk enjin VW (I think EA888) diperbuat daripada aluminium. Patutnya VW Msia sekarang dah kenal pasti material plastik tak sesuai dan cause problem tu. So patut mrk ada stock water pump aluminium. I think that would solve all that crazy issue. Kereta Jepun guna aluminium water pump sebab tu takde masalah coolant.

Within warranty period apa2 issues semua foc under warranty 5 tahun. Now i'm using B8, 3rd yr already...replaced clutch pack recently under foc warranty. W'salam. Untuk Sharan, dia pakai engine 2.0 tsi yang sama dengan golf gti mk6, Dari segi masalah. Lebih kurang engine passat 1.8 juga sebab base engine yang sama. Tapi transmission kurang masalah sebab wet clutch berbanding passat dry clutch. Pernah dgr juga owner Sharan ada issue dgn gas strut bonet belakang. Lain2 rasanya ok kot.

I know what I am doing, kereta conti ni ikut nasib actually. I only do normal service at SC when it was in warranty, and battery only tukar bila dia kaput. And yes i do have my preferred conti specialist and im in passat malaysia owners group
@@PsychedMedia I just surprise to see your bill, 8 years total 23k+. Average 3k per year. But the list of item changed is far too frequent like the fan belt, battery, cabin filter, oil sump plug. All done in vw service center is one big factor. You must have followed what they advised you to change stated in the service guide as recommended for the mileage you hit, which indeed not necessary. My fren works in vw said this is all SC tactic to earn the extra $$. Bro, you have the right to remove items you don't need even before warranty unless it stated clearly some parts if don't change will void warranty. Like oil sump plug, just need to change the washer. cabin filter, y change every year or 15k? Fan belt y change 2018, then 2019 change again? Battery is at least 2 years, y change 2017, 2018. Tyre 1200 per piece? u use run flat? If you follow SC recommendation which they call it preventive maintenance but indeed they set it as early as possible so all customers need to change it frequently and they earn the $$. This is the time u will incur extra cost. If you are a car guy, u will understand what I said. So i guess u just an ordinary consumer like many others. I do feel u. Conti doesn't need to spend that much. That's y all people misconception conti maintenance is high but if u know your thing, that isn't the case. I owned beemer e46, e34, e39 for 14 years. I still own this passat b7 sport 2012, just had a gearbox issue, if u go to SC, they will ask u to change the whole GB for 15k - 20k, i just changed the flywheel and bearing and some seals in outside specialist, 2.8k only. of course I'm a car guy and I know car things. Hope this can help u in future venture into other conti. No fear, knowledge is what u need to overcome it.
@@stevenlslsteven that time I had to go thru at SC because it was still under the 7 years warranty, so no choice have to follow their instructions. And yes i realise theres a period where the SC scam me for doing the same thing twice within a short interval. The battery change because i use outside battery, went dead after 1 month finishing warranty. Now change other brand battery see if can last longer than 1 year or not. The 1.2k tyre is the stock contiseal tyre, no longer using that, now using Conti MC6 much cheaper.. and no more sending to SC already..
But need to thank you for the honest sharing. It is good to let people know the true deception all this conti SC. I must say the pros mechanic are mostly outside not in SC. SC will just follow the book and company rules.

Salam Tuan. Saya baru saje terjumpa Channel Tuan ni. Sambil2 survey kete yg saya minat, VW Rare dijln Malaysia, iaitu VW Sharan 2.0. Jadi, soalan saya ada yg kurang tak berkenaan especially ttg Maintenance. Sekiranya Tuan terbaca, sudila kiranya Tuan menjawab soalan saya ini. T.kasih.
W'salam. Untuk Sharan, dia pakai engine 2.0 tsi yang sama dengan golf gti mk6, Dari segi masalah. Lebih kurang engine passat 1.8 juga sebab base engine yang sama. Tapi transmission kurang masalah sebab wet clutch berbanding passat dry clutch. Pernah dgr juga owner Sharan ada issue dgn gas strut bonet belakang. Lain2 rasanya ok kot.

Akn safe 45_50% dr hntr wshop.. Sbb orts mrkup+wrkmnship.. Dan kena game lg dgn pomen.. So bljr lah hitm kn tgn.. Mentality mcm org US.. Diy mostly

Sama experience bro. I pernah bawak GTI MK6 dan passat B7 2014. Surrender flat out. Kereta Jepun saya langsung tak pernah kena tow Tapi, kedua dua biji VW tu sering dinampak atas tow truck.... begitu grandeur sekali. Betul betul surrender dgn VW.

Passat Elegance 2020 onwards guna wet clutch. Lebih ok dari dry clutch ke? Adakah CKD's Passat lebih ok sbb dah ambik kira keadaan cuaca kat Msia?
Model VW baru2 rasanya dah kurang masalah berbanding model 2010-2015.. so memang better dari dry clutch

VW dah guna wet clutch lama dah. I tidak Tiguan 2012 Kut. Then Passat B8 2.0 Highline 2016 onwards
U macam kena tipu ni. Aku pakai passat sport ni mana perlu tukar banyak benda ni. Simpati u. Battery satu tahun tukar satu baru? Pening. U pakai conti mesti tahu sikit benda benda kereta baru baloi. Bukan ikut apa service center cakap apa tukar apa. Itu muslihat dia orang cara cari suit.
I know what I am doing, kereta conti ni ikut nasib actually. I only do normal service at SC when it was in warranty, and battery only tukar bila dia kaput. And yes i do have my preferred conti specialist and im in passat malaysia owners group
@@PsychedMedia I just surprise to see your bill, 8 years total 23k+. Average 3k per year. But the list of item changed is far too frequent like the fan belt, battery, cabin filter, oil sump plug. All done in vw service center is one big factor. You must have followed what they advised you to change stated in the service guide as recommended for the mileage you hit, which indeed not necessary. My fren works in vw said this is all SC tactic to earn the extra $$. Bro, you have the right to remove items you don't need even before warranty unless it stated clearly some parts if don't change will void warranty. Like oil sump plug, just need to change the washer. cabin filter, y change every year or 15k? Fan belt y change 2018, then 2019 change again? Battery is at least 2 years, y change 2017, 2018. Tyre 1200 per piece? u use run flat? If you follow SC recommendation which they call it preventive maintenance but indeed they set it as early as possible so all customers need to change it frequently and they earn the $$. This is the time u will incur extra cost. If you are a car guy, u will understand what I said. So i guess u just an ordinary consumer like many others. I do feel u. Conti doesn't need to spend that much. That's y all people misconception conti maintenance is high but if u know your thing, that isn't the case. I owned beemer e46, e34, e39 for 14 years. I still own this passat b7 sport 2012, just had a gearbox issue, if u go to SC, they will ask u to change the whole GB for 15k - 20k, i just changed the flywheel and bearing and some seals in outside specialist, 2.8k only. of course I'm a car guy and I know car things. Hope this can help u in future venture into other conti. No fear, knowledge is what u need to overcome it.
@@stevenlslsteven that time I had to go thru at SC because it was still under the 7 years warranty, so no choice have to follow their instructions. And yes i realise theres a period where the SC scam me for doing the same thing twice within a short interval. The battery change because i use outside battery, went dead after 1 month finishing warranty. Now change other brand battery see if can last longer than 1 year or not. The 1.2k tyre is the stock contiseal tyre, no longer using that, now using Conti MC6 much cheaper.. and no more sending to SC already..

But need to thank you for the honest sharing. It is good to let people know the true deception all this conti SC. I must say the pros mechanic are mostly outside not in SC. SC will just follow the book and company rules.
