Hey Jose, enjoyed the presentation you gave at Autodesk / Pluralsight on Jan. 12. Came here to see what you offer - sped up and no sound! Anything more in depth, sharing your insights and brilliance? Thanks!

Hi Tom, Thanks for attending the event. Hope you got a lot out of it. I'm planning in being more active with video uploads. Stay tuned, there's so much to share!

Here is the LUA code for the vertex animation. Open the shader FX graph of the material you want to add this to, than simply paste this code in that window. The nodes will appear. Than connect the Vegetation Animation RGB out into the Standard Base Position offset input.

Also, as for the other mats, they are using the shader fx vray material graph in Stingray. You can either send a vray material form Max to Stingray (it will get converted into a shader FX vray mat) or create one in stingray. It's important to note that this vray material graph is simply a slightly different shader tree than the standard shader fx material, one that takes into account traditional vray material setups in Max. These particular materials consist of a diffuse map and a reflection glossiness map. To create the shader fx vray material, create a new material in Stingray and set its parent to vray or vray transparent (if you have a transparent material).

Hi Jose, It been a while...I have since been able to create an archviz project using Stingray with similar results... thanks again to this very en lighting presentation. As for the vertex animation LUA code.., thanks, but I tried to paste it as instructed but was unsuccessful. I tried copying and pasting the animated grass Mat_PostOffset material found in the "museum of learning" online example file to a text document and back to a new material and it worked. I then tried pasting the vertex animation LUA code and nothing happened. Is there something I have been doing wrong...? Also, is there a way to create lawn grass material maybe using a material similar to the standard_fur material. I tried creating lawn grass using the current fur material and the results were disastrous. Thanks again and in advance for the help.

Are you working in Linear Workflow in Max/V-Ray? That part is totally confusing to me.
Is there a Linear colorspace workflow option in Stingray?

Hi Jose, a big thanks for this video (...weird ending though). I have really learnt a lot from it about Stingray. Is it possible to show how you made curtains that sway with the wind and also your carpet and sofa materials...? Thanks.

Hi Simon. Thanks, the ending is just for fun, really. The carpet and sofa mats are vray shaders in max. They get translated and interpreted correctly in stingray. I can post the stingray shader fx graph if that helps. The curtains are also animated via shader fx. It's vertex animation. I'll post that graph too.

Hi Jose, thanks for your reply. If you can please post the shader fx graph for both mats and the vertex animation. Am really amazed by what is achievable in such a short time using Stingray. The vray (materials) - stingray sync is clearly underrated and should be trending especially in the CG Archviz world. Thanks again.

that was an awesome work Jose!! something that brought my attention is that the v-ray materials (as you mention in the comment below) are readable in stingray!!! ?? thats awesome..
btw does a v-ray hdri map and other v-ray lights get translated into stingray as well? thanks bro!

The vray power shader (vray material) is all that will be handled in stingray AFAIW. It basically gets converted into a shaderfx material that clossesly resembles what the vray material does. We have some fancy heuristics to achieve this.

Nice! Our company is currently using v-ray for renders and lumion for videos and we want to go further by creating a more interactive real time rendering experience for our clients.
is there any extra tutorials or resources we can learn from?

Hi, and thanks, is this file open source or you had done it? it's hard to start from scratch! would be great if you could share it for learning purposes
