  • Carrying a gun without a quality gun belt is a very uncomfortable thing to do. After 40 years of carrying a gun every day, I've found the gun belt that works best for me. My favorite gun belts are from Kore Essentials. I explain why in this video.

    I own 4 kore belts in leather and tactical and totally agree with Joel theyre outstanding. I have been using these for couple years enough to swear by them.First go around I had the bladetech belt thats made by nexbelt with this same track but it wasnt stiff enough then it friggin broke. I was done with these kind of belts.Then the wife got me my first Kore belt and it was much much better quality and stronger. i liked them so much eventually I got 3 more.I carry with tier1 owb glock19 setup. Sounds weird that I love these things but i do. It adjusts like a zip tie and keeps the holster right at my waist.

    These Kore belts are very well made, sturdy and strong. I wish I had this belt and the wider belts when I was still a Police Officer. I’ve ruined many dress belts working plain clothes details. These belts are great carry belts, police officer or civilian. Buckles are very strong and well made.
    I now teach concealed carry, tactical classes in Florida. I recommend these belts to my firearms training students.

    the first holster I bought was an Uncle Mike's and I am glad I bought it just so that I know never to buy such a cheap holster ever again. cheap holsters can have their place, and I keep mine around just in case I have a need for it at some point (it can hold just about every weapon, but none of them very well) but now I much prefer my quality holsters with quality belts.

    I bought my first kore belt before I had my ccw. About a year or so now. Was in the process of obtaining it then. So I never knew what it was like to have a bad belt and a gun. I gave it away and went a week without. I DIDN'T WANT TO GO ANYWHERE. Felt naked without it, once you go kore, you need it to get out the door. I wore it daily and when I gave it away they were surprised. Appeared to be brand new still. It is plyable enough to where its not uncomfortable, but the edges are rock solid. So the weapon is pressed against you but all the support is rested on the edge of the belt. Makes for an easy draw and a secure hold with an all day comfort. Even if you mexican carry it... not that I would know firsthand or anything... (it works flawlessly) yep none of that unsafe stuff.... really need to get a holster for my 1911 already.

    Greetings from the Canadian Northwest. It's refreshing to find a U.S. based firearms channel that doesn't think "tactical" is the main requirement for gear suitability. I was interested when I came across the title of today's video, because as I watched it I was actually working on a new gun belt, to replace one that's given me much good service but (as with all things) has become a bit floppy. Canadian law does not allow open or concealed handgun carry, and "Restricted" class firearms are limited to use at an approved shooting range. That said, there are about several million Canadians who own firearms, many in rural or remote areas, and at least 1/3 of them own handguns, usually more than one, and are active in shooting activities. The importance of a good belt and holster is no new thing.
    Because I refuse to pay extortionate prices for mass-produced crap, I've learned to make both belts and holsters, with the same criteria as you mention. I don't live anywhere close to the lower 48, so a quick cross-border shopping trip is not on. Likewise, there are U.S. vendors who market quality products, but attach ridiculous shipping charges. (One recent example was a pair of sight parts costing less that $50, an easy fit in a letter-size envelope, but with $6980.00 asked for shipping. It was not a 'typo'. Needless to say, I kept looking).
    Nevertheless, a shortage of good off-the-shelf products, and being old has given me some experience with what makes a gun belt "good." I thank you for your excellent discussion of the important things to look for in a pistol belt, and I hope you'll pass the word to some of your favorite suppliers that yes, there really is a huge market for quality belts and holsters in western Canada. Most of the people I shoot with own at least half a dozen handguns. (this also makes reloading a popular activity). I have "lucked out" once or twice, finding a satisfactory holster "as is.." But modifying, or making one from scratch is the usual route.
    Thank you again for this well presented and informative video. You can add 1 new sub on YT

    I purchased the Tactical and Dress Belt combo from Kore a few months ago. Aside from a lack of support from their customer service when they shipped my package to the wrong address, the initial purchase went well and the price was good. I have since noticed that the Tactical belt will slip out of adjustment from time to time. I do not experience the same issue with the Dress belt. It is my plan to swap the buckles to see if it's the belt (track) or the buckle. We will see if Kore supports their product once I identify the issue.
    I will note that I bought these two Kore belts without thinking twice due to a close friend's (Detective with local PD) positive experiences with their belts over the last few years. Hopefully I am the exception, although how companies address the exceptions is a true test of their customer service policies.

    Amen brother! How many guys go out without their gun because they hate the way it makes their pants sag? I could get away with a heavy leather belt if I'm carrying my Shield or Sig, but I wouldn't think of carrying my Glock 23 or a full size gun without a good sturdy polymer lined gun belt. They make great single clip Kydex holsters now, but the way they concentrate the weight of the gun makes a good belt even more important.

    TBH, I'm too cheap to buy a $60 belt just to carry my firearm. My current "gun belt" I paid $2 for used at Goodwill. It is actually a "money belt", and it is plenty thick and stiff enough to carry my gear for the last 2 years with no signs of wear.
    I'm not knocking gun belts. I think that they are great, but there are options if you just keep in mind what the belt needs to do. It needs to be thick and stiff enough to carry your gear without stretching, twisting, or sagging. Two or more plies are better that a single thick strap. As I mentioned, I love actual gun belts, and these in the video look great... I just don't have $60 to throw at a belt if I have a $2 option that works.

    • @porqueriagarbage2700
      @porqueriagarbage2700 4 года назад

      I'm like you. Too cheap for most things. I rather make due with thrift shop hand-me-downs than pay for quality. However!!!! I did buy a KORE Essentials belt. I use it for carry, but I also use it when I don't carry. They're fantastic for all applications, they look fantastic, and a good quality belt, whether it's a "gun belt" or not, is going to be in a similar price range, if not more. $60 is a great deal when you think about it. It's my first belt I've ever paid more than $4 for, but I can tell you, I love it so much I bet I'll be getting 3 or 4 more in the future.

So much for being too fat! LOL! I'm happy to see that they are now offering the XL size again, but it's unfortunate that I had to go to another vendor for a belt with a conventional buckle! Time to go shopping again! Thanks for the video!

    So which material is the favorite among owners of the Kore EDC belt ?
    I keep thinking the leather would be more comfortable for this 53 year old with some over-run on the belly LOL.
    But I like to look and probable longer wearing capabilities of the nylon.
    Is there a consensus ?

    Ordered a set of these after watching the video. I've only been wearing one for a couple of days and it seems to work well, so far. I was surprised, however, to learn that they are made in China.

    Love the review. I have a quick question if you don't mind. I noticed on there website that one belt fits anyone from a 24" waist to, I believe, a 54" waist. With that wide gap, I would think that the end user would have to cut that belt, otherwise it wuld wrap around that 24" waisted guy twice. Is that true? Again, love the review, and nothing wrong with not being tacticool. I once knew a guy that paid $50 for a tactical pen and asked what I thought. I thought he was a moron.

      Yes you cut the belt to get it to your size range. None of our belts are too big, they can all be trimmed down. Thanks

      Yep, considering you'll pay $20 - $30 for a good normal belt, $50 for a duty belt is a fair price. Especially since they last a long time.

    • @Koreessentialsbrand
      @Koreessentialsbrand 4 года назад

      No the teeth don't wear and in addition buckles use 2 set screws to secure the belt, so its really impossible to pull out and we have a garrison version that's 1.75" wide. thanks

      Definitely does! I can be in a car or on a motorcycle and loosen it on the fly with a quick push of the release lever. One second to retighten without adjusting/taking off the whole buckle. I can tighten sitting too if I choose. I know wonder how I lived without 1/4 inch adjustments as well.

    • @Koreessentialsbrand
      @Koreessentialsbrand 4 года назад +1

      Ezgar If you squeeze the small release tab under the buckle you can adjust the belt "in or out" 1/4" at a time. It does not activate on its own, you have to squeeze it. Also all Kore gun belts have a Power-Core center (not gortex or steel) this makes the belt stiff and supportive for cc, yet flexible so it's comfortable to wear all day. Thanks
