    Definitely thinking about getting one of these. Thanks for the video, bro. But what exactly did you do to fix the faders? I'm pretty hands on so is it something I could fix myself if a problem arises once I get one?

    • @MegaManDrum
      @MegaManDrum  5 лет назад

      I do a complete disassembly and rebuild with reaming of the slide and lubrication, because the design is made to fail over time. The digifader is a good design however, and cold temperatures make them operate even worse. The capacitive touch feature can fail too... But fortunately I have found the compromised component on the circuit

    I Have the same unit and was wondering if you could tell me how to fix the faders? Faders 1 and 2 don't move with automation anymore. The touch sensors still work as it can tell my finger is on it, but no automated movement. Great Video. its awesome to see these older units still working.

      Can you go into Utility > Test >Fader and recalibrate. Do all the faders move?

    • @Drumbum1147
      @Drumbum1147 5 лет назад +1

      @@MegaManDrum only 3-8, first fader doesn't move at all, the second one moves only up to "0254". the other ones that work move up to '1200". not sure on what the unit of measurement the screen displays

      @@Drumbum1147 The first fader could truly be dead, but I good test would be to swap #1 with #8. If after the swap, fader #1 is still dead, you probably have a board issue. #2 needs reconditioning and could be back in working order. I would suggest swapping those 2 faders first to see if that first one is truly dead.

    • @MegaManDrum
      @MegaManDrum  5 лет назад +1

      @@Drumbum1147 another safe test for #1 is power down and move fader #1 half way up. Then power up. Some faders tend to stick really good at 0% or 100%. This might loosen it enough to see a slight movement on startup, or recalibration, which is good and means #1 just needs reconditioning as well

      @@MegaManDrum i got it figured out, i finally opened up the damn thing to look inside. the 2nd fader was stuck.When i unscrewed it, one of the mounting arms (where the screw goes into) was bent, which left the fader slightly offset, rubbing against the slot that it fits into. i bent the mounting arms back into shape and works fine now. As for the first fader, thats a different story. The belt between the two motor snapped unfortunately, and trying to test it, the motors wont move either. I'm guessing they burnt out from moving freely without the tension of the belt. Now i have to search the internet to find a replacement DigiFader. looks pretty easy though. Thanks for all your help though!

    Do you have full use of it? I tried V control a while back and I only had half of the features, it’s was barely usable

    • @MegaManDrum
      @MegaManDrum  3 года назад

      V Control allows the Pro Control to function again, which in itself makes it very usable. Since it connects via HUI protocol you're limited to the commands, so it does not allow the Pro Control to function completely as it did originally. It has everything I need, including plugin control. If you need full control, use Avid Control.

    Thx so much for posting this. A few questions:
    1.) Do you still need to run this with an HD rig or is that not needed with the HUI protocol?2.) Do the zoom functions work?3.) Does the talkback work? 4.) Do you need any xmon or can you use an external monitoring system like a Dangerous 2bus+? Thanks for any insight.

    • @MegaManDrum
      @MegaManDrum  5 лет назад +1

      1. You don't need an HD Rig. It speaks directly to HUI protocol.
      2. The 4 arrows in the master section allowed me to zoom a number of different ways.
      3. Talk back is part of the analog monitor section of the Pro Control, so if you choose to use it, it works. 4. I don't know. I use mine as a control surface and Presonus Central Station for my monitors.

      @ErikHawk 5 лет назад

      @@MegaManDrum That's good. Same with the Mackie HUI. But only the older plugs have all the parameter labels correct. The new plug labels and assignments are mixed up or nonsense. I'm trying to decide if there are any advantages to using ProControl versus the HUI. ProControl is a little less expensive on the used market.

      @@MegaManDrum One other quick question, how do you have ProControl connected to your computer? What are you using? Thanks.

    • @MegaManDrum
      @MegaManDrum  5 лет назад

      @@ErikHawk I have a Pro Control and Expansion Pack connected to a Linksys Ethernet switch, and that is connected to the main ethernet port on my PC. I am running Windows 7 64 Bit. I installed V-Control Pro and it set up everything with very little to do in my end. The software found the ethernet devices and linked up, and I just assigned HUI controllers with the new V-Control virtual midi ports and was off and running. There are still some issues I have been trying to work out with Neyrinck but haven't gotten any further lately, one issue is the surface dropping out/freezing intermittently, but almost always kicks back on after a few moments

    • @ErikHawk
      @ErikHawk 5 лет назад

      @@MegaManDrum Wow, that's great info. Thanks so much. I just use the MIDI ports on my HUI into a MOTU MTP AV, no ethernet. The bi-directional MIDI protocol is slower but no dropouts ever. Good luck getting the kinks ironed out. The ProControl is wonderfully cheap right now. Who says you need new gear to make great music, right? :-)

    Does the metering work with the v-control?

    • @MegaManDrum
      @MegaManDrum  5 лет назад

      Yes it does. Since there are more LED segments than midi messages for HUI, a few LEDs are paired up, but it still looks smooth to me. Peak metering hasn't been implemented yet, not sure why.

    Couple of questions is the v-control thing hard to set up? Also as I u safety’s after it you have to pay $50 per year to use the v control pro program is that true? Final question are you using this on a pc?

    • @MegaManDrum
      @MegaManDrum  5 лет назад

      It is extremely easy to set up, just assign HUI controllers in Pro Tools to V-control Pro midi ports, that it installs itself. There are subscriptions or in my case, I purchased the full license and don't need to pay annually. I am using this on Windows 7 64 Bit

    After a couple of months of use, what’s your experience been like?

    • @MegaManDrum
      @MegaManDrum  5 лет назад +1

      Considering I get the use of my mixing platform again, albeit not to its absolute full capability, I am extremely pleased. Many of the go-to functions are there for me, and it is very accurate as far as latency is concerned. There are a few bugs still but nothing that severely hampers my work flow.
      When banking per channel or groups of 8, the meters will freeze if they become a blank channel after banking, and the surface will occasionally, but rarely, go offline. I close V-control Pro and then restart, all is well again. Other than those 2 issues nothing else has happened that is a major problem. Totally worth the cost to use this surface again, and I am hoping for future developments and using at last the basics in other programs... In my case MixBus 32C v5.

    • @DJILLEE
